Ann Marie Bailey

Ann Marie Bailey, 90, of Pioneer, died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 in Sacramento.
Mrs. Bailey was born on March 19, 1914 in Oakland to Eugenio and Tranquilla Mariani who immigrated to California from Lucca, Italy with Ann’s three older siblings.
She was beloved by her daughter, Susan Dantche of Seattle, Wash.; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Linda Bailey of El Dorado Hills, Tim and Tamar Bailey of Pioneer, Chris and Pam Bailey of Castro Valley and Steven Bailey and Felicia Laureano of Hayward.
She will be missed by her grandchildren, Mark, Christine, Liam, Michael, Bryan, Evan, Samantha, Amanda and great grandchildren, Nick, Danielle, Jake and Olivia; and her older sister, Bianca Jacklich of Manteca. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Bailey in January 2002.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Pioneer.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at the same location.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Pioneer, followed by interment at Amador Memorial Cemetery
in Pioneer. Arrangements are being handled by McCrory’s Funeral Home in Pine Grove.

Lena May Willoughby
Dec. 4, 1908 - Dec. 1, 2004
Lena May Willoughby, 95, died on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson.
Mrs. Willoughby was born on Dec. 4, 1908 in San Jose. She later attended elementary school at College Park School in San Jose. She met her husband, Matthew Gerrans Willoughby at church and they were married in 1939.
They lived in San Jose for 89 and a half years and Lena worked in banking for 16 years.
She was a member of Amaranths Branch of Eastern Star of San Jose, enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by daughters, Darlene Willoughby and Karen Zuger both of Jackson; grandchild, Kasey Souza of San Jose; great-grandchildren, Ashley Venter and Steven Malezewski both of San Jose; niece, Carolyn Schwartz of North Carolina and nephew, Bob Kelty of San Jose. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Gerrans Willoughby; her brother, John Naf and sister, Adele Kelty.
Private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by McCrory’s Funeral Home in Pine Grove.

Kathryn Marie Hodges
March 21, 1924 - Nov. 29, 2004
Kathryn Marie Hodges, 80, died on Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at her home in Jackson.
Mrs. Hodges was born on March 21, 1924 to Henry and Marie Smallfield in Standard. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1941 and married Samuel A. Hodges on Sept. 26, 1943 at the Jackson United Methodist Church in Jackson.
She is survived by her children, Robert Hodges and Donna K. Hodges both of Sacramento, Randall Hodges of Redding; brother, Jim Smallfield of Jackson; grandsons, Brian and Todd Hodges both of Sacramento; nephews, Doug Smallfield of Sutter Creek and Eddie Smallfield of Albany. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Sam Hodges on Dec. 2, 2000 and brothers, Jack Smallfield, Robert Smallfield, Bert Smallfield and Art Yen.
Memorial service will take place on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson. Inurnment will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery
in Jackson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Violet Lillian Shoemaker

Violet Lillian Shoemaker, 73, died on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at Marshall Hospital in Placerville.
Mrs. Shoemaker was born on Feb. 3, 1931 to Gustav and Anna Skullman in Chicago, Ill.
Violet, affectionately known as “Granny Vi,” “Auntie” and “Mudder,” loved being with her family and friends and cooking for them. She was famous for her Christmas fudge. She enjoyed dancing to big band music, reading and was an artist. She also loved her cat named, “Beast.”
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Mike James of Pioneer, Anna and Bob O’day of Coarse Gold; son, Russell Shoemaker of Monrovia; grandchildren, Jason and Jordan Winchester, Brooke Garza, Lillian O’day; and great-grandchildren, Abigail, Isis and Nathan.
Graveside service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Amador Memorial Cemetery
in Pioneer and Interment followed. Arrangements were entrusted to Daneri Mortuary of Jackson.

Thomas Eugene Beck
Thomas Eugene Beck, 64, died on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at the Manteca Care and Rehabilitation Center in Manteca.
Mr. Beck was born on Jan. 6, 1940 in Midvale, Utah.
Graveside service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 7 in the Garden of Valor at Sunset View Cemetery
in Martell and interment followed. Arrangements were entrusted to Daneri Mortuary in Jackson.

Geraldine Rider
Geraldine Rider, 85, of Pioneer, died on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at Kit Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson.
She was born on Feb. 24, 1919, in Missouri.

Audrey Parker
Aug. 26, 1927 - Dec. 1, 2004
Audrey Parker, 77, died on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 at her home in Pine Grove.
Mrs. Parker was born on Aug. 26, 1927 in Middletown, Conn.
She attended school in East Berlin, Conn., then continued on to college in Providence, R.I.
She was working at the U.S. Embassy in Teheran, Iran when she met her husband, Tom Parker, in 1953. She worked for Amador County for 10 years.
She is survived by her sons, Zachary Mansworth Parker of Newport Beach, Matthew Pollard Parker of Jackson; daughter, Tracee Magdalene Parker of El Dorado; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Parker.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Volcano. Arrangements are being handled by McCrory’s Funeral Home in Pine Grove.
