Paul Myers
Paul Richard Myers of Elk Grove, an area resident for 52 years, died Dec. 10, 2003, at the age of 71.
Mr. Myers, who was born in West Virginia, was active in Oakridge Little League, Fruitridge Cub Scouts and Elk Grove Senior Babe Ruth. He retired from Pacific Bell after 32 years of service and retired from the Cosumnes River College Athletic Department in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Joan Myers.
Mr. Myers is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan Platz Myers of Elk Grove; his son Curtis Paul Myers also of Elk Grove; his adopted daughter Shirley Fink of Maine; and his four adopted grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was the brother of W. Harold Myers, Thelma Ellis, Bill and C. Shelton Myers all of West Virginia; the uncle of Dianne Tuosto of Wilton, Rebecca Myers of El Dorado Hills, Rick Myers of Sacramento, Tim Myers of Brentwood, Terri Myers-Shamblin and Julie Carr of West Virginia; and the special "dad" of Stephanie Rees of Sacramento.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel followed by interment in East Lawn Memorial Park. Remembrances may be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church, 5625 24th St., Sacramento, CA 95822, or Sutter General Hospital Cancer Center, 2801 L St., Sacramento, CA 95816.
Ernestine Murphy
Ernestine J. Murphy, a three-year resident of Galt, died Dec. 10, 2003, at the age of 74. She was a native of San Gabriel.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Stanley O. Murphy.
She is survived by her children, Randy Murphy of Utah and Christine Young and husband Steve of Galt; her grandchildren, Jason, Jolene, Cathy and Steve Young Jr.; and her great-grandchildren, Owen, Doran, Jackleen, Courtney, Steve III and Christian.
Services took place Saturday in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel followed by interment in Hicksville Cemetery, Galt.
Robert Lloyd
Memorial services will take place Friday, March 4 for Robert Harkness Lloyd who died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005 at his home in Elk Grove. Mr. Lloyd was 66.
He was born Oct. 26, 1938 in Farmington, N.M. to William E. and Sara June Lloyd and grew up in Chico, graduating from Chico High School. Following graduation he served three years in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Lloyd was a retired Southern Pacific Railroad conductor, a retired field supervisor with United Transportation Union Insurance, and also retired as a chief investigator from Crow Law Firm, Sacramento. His family said he loved trains and the railroad, and was active with the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railroad Employees.
Other interests included traveling, spending time with his family and researching the family genealogy.
Mr. Lloyd is survived by his wife Pamela A. Lloyd of Elk Grove; children Michael and wife Tracie of Ceresco, Neb. and Gregory and wife Jackie of Riverbank; grandchildren Katherine and Jacob Lloyd of Ceresco, Nick McAdams of Discovery Bay and Lisa Rocha and husband Steve of Riverbank; and great-grandchildren Bryce and Bradley Rocha of Riverbank.
He was the brother of James H. Lloyd of Mt. Shasta and William E. Lloyd Jr. and wife Gwen of Fort Jones.
Friday’s services begin at 2 p.m. at South East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. A reception will follow.

Susan Aronson
Susan Aronson, a former Peace Corps volunteer, died May 7, 2002 following a long battle with lymphoma. Her family, including her husband, children and her mother, were with her during her last days.
Mrs. Aronson was a graduate of Pamona College, where she met and married her husband, Dennis. She had been a Peace Corps volunteer, serving for two years in Afghanistan in the field of children services. She also worked in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon as a teacher and journalist.
When she became a resident of Elk Grove, Mrs. Aronson was editor of Friends of Afghanistan News Letter and was active as a coordinator with the World Church Service. She was a coordinator of the church Crop Walk, which raises money for the hungry around the world. She also served with Child Reach for Education.
"Susan had a love for children and worked for them all of her life," said Val Sutter, pastor of the First Congregational Church in Elk Grove.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Aronson; her children, Michael, Bill and Kathi; and her mother, Betty.
A memorial service is scheduled for today, May 10 at 3 p.m. in the Elk Grove Congregation Church, 9624 Melrose Ave. “The focus of the service will be a remembrance of her life and the wonderful things she did,” said her husband. A reception in the fellowship hall will follow the service.

Edwin Uffelman
Edwin Uffelman, sponsor of the Elk Grove Gold Dust girls softball team, died May 5, 2002 in Sacramento.
Mr. Uffelman was born March 22, 1916 in Sugar City, Idaho. He is survived by his children: Gerald, Kenneth, Norman, Tracy, Stanley, Timothy, Michele, Sherri and Christopher; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, May 10, at 10 a.m. at South East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd. Interment will follow at South East Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.
Grace Worgrum
Grace Ann Worgum, infant daughter of Jeffrey and Rose Worgum, died Sept. 26, 2002, in Elk Grove. She was born April 3, 2002, in Roseville.
Besides her parents she is also survived by her brother, Philip; her grandparents, Donald Pinter and Henrietta and Theodore Russell; and her aunts and uncles, Jennifer Worgum, Roxanne, Henry and Rhett Russell.
Grace was preceded in death by her grandparents, Philip and Jo Ann Worgum and her uncle, Robert Russell.
Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Ellensburg, Wash., with her grandparents.

William Luck
Retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. William E. Luck died in Sacramento Sept. 29, 2002, at the age of 81.
He was born in North Carolina and served with the U.S. Navy for 25 years. He was a resident of San Jose for 44 years, moving to this area one year ago.
Lt. Cmdr. Luck was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Michael.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Delfina Carbullido Luck; his children, Lance Luck and wife Gina of Oklahoma, Chris Luck and wife Rachel of Scotts Valley, Kenny Luck and wife Chrissy of Rancho Santa Margarita, Mark Luck, Deborah Mullan and husband Scott and Alicia Swanson and husband Christian all of Sacramento; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of Joyce Mann of North Carolina.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Thursday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Elk Grove. Interment is at 2 p.m. today in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Los Altos.

Fern Betschart
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, June 22 for Fern L. Betschart of Elk Grove, who died June 16, 2003 at the age of 81.
Mrs. Betschart was a lifelong resident of the Florin-Elk Grove area, graduating from Elk Grove High School. She participated in her children's activities while they were growing up, including being a Cub Scout and Brownie leader.
She was an avid golfer and was captain of the Valley High Country Club's 18-hole women's group. She also enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to three different bridge clubs.
Mrs. Betschart was preceded in death by her brother, Royal, and sister, Perletta.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Paul Betschart of Elk Grove; her children, Clark Betschart of Sacramento, Bruce Betschart of Littleton, Colo. and Paula Betschart of Elk Grove; her grandchildren, Jeff, Kelly, Nathan and Kristy; and great-grandchildren, Mason and James.
Mrs. Betschart was the sister of Raymond, Warren, Calvin and Wayne.
Monday's Mass will begin at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 9961 Elk Grove-Florin Road. Interment is private.
