Dee Price
Graveside services took place Tuesday for Anna Delores (Dee) Price, a former longtime resident of Wilton, who died Aug. 10, 2003, following a long illness.
Mrs. Price was born Sept. 13, 1936 in Pensacola, Fla., and came to Wilton as a young woman, where she lived until 1999 when she became ill. She was very active in the Elk Grove Republican Women for many years, and also served on the staff of Gov. George Deukmejian.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth.
Services were held at Elk Grove District Cemetery.

Mark Wolff
Mark M. Wolff, son of Donna Wolff of Wilton, died in San Francisco Aug. 11, 2003 at the age of 42.
Mr. Wolff was born in Garden Grove and grew up in Wilton, attending Dillard School and graduating from Elk Grove High School in 1978. He then graduated from California State University, Sacramento and earned his master's degree from Pepperdine University.
Mr. Wolff spent six years in the service with the U.S. Marine Corps and was most recently a financial consultant. He had resided in San Francisco for the past five years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Wolff.
Besides his mother, Mr. Wolff is survived by his sister Laura Lomba and husband Nolan of Herald and his grandmother Mary Alice Ostrum of Long Beach.
He was the nephew of Sharon Morgan of Long Beach and the uncle of Christine and Emily Lomba of Herald.
Funeral services were held Monday in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel. Interment was in South East Lawn Memorial Park, Elk Grove.

William Reeder
A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 25 in the Elk Grove Masonic Temple for William R. (Bill) Reeder, longtime former resident of this area, who died July 2, 2003, in Colorado at the age of 81.
Mr. Reeder was PTA president at Elk Grove High School the year his daughter Sandra was a senior, and he organized the first all-night graduation party which has now become the annual Sober Grad Night. He was also a past master of the Elk Grove Masonic Lodge and inspector for the California Grand Lodge.
He was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Indiana to Genevieve and Verus Reeder and raised in the Masonic orphanage in Ohio. After graduation from high school in 1939, he joined the U.S. Navy where he spent 22 years. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theatre and was on the beach within arm's length of famed war correspondent Ernie Pyle when Pyle was killed. He also witnessed the nuclear bomb testing at Bikini Atoll.
The family moved to Sloughhouse following his retirement from the service and Mr. Reeder became office manager for a national door company. He was a fire commissioner for the Sloughhouse Fire District, trustee of the Elk Grove United Methodist Church, past patron of Elk Grove Chapter 109, Order of the Eastern Star and past associate Bethel Guardian of Elk Grove Bethel No. 347, International Order of Job's Daughters. Both he and his wife, Betty were 4-H community leaders.
In 1983 the Reeders moved to Widefield,  Colo. to help daughter Sandra and son-in-law John Engs with the accounting in their family business. Mr. Reeder continued his Masonic affiliations, serving as secretary of the Fountain Valley Masonic Lodge and patron of Fountain Valley Eastern Star. Both Reeders were grandparents for Bethel No. 31, Job's Daughters in Fountain.
Mr. Reeder was preceded in death by his sister Catherine; his infant son Lynn; and his grandson Dean.
He is survived by his wife of 60-plus years, Betty Jean of Widefield; his daughters, Pamela Jean Bourland of Divide,  Colo. and Sandra Jean Engs and husband John of Widefield; his granddaughters, Tamera Jean Stroh of Walden,  Colo., Deborah Jean Draper of Colorado Springs and Sarah Jean Engs of Denver; and a great-grandson Nikolas Stroh.
Monday's services begin at 2 p.m. at the Elk Grove Masonic Temple, 9829 Waterman Road. Remembrances may be made to Bethel No. 31, Job's Daughters Memorial Fund, 645 Welsh Circle South, Colorado Springs, CO 80916.

Joyce Stroud
Joyce E. Stroud, a resident of Elk Grove for the past 34 years, died May 25, 2004 at the age of 76. She was a native of North Dakota.
Mrs. Stroud was a well-known figure at Joseph Kerr Middle School where she worked in the cafeteria for approximately 15 years, several under the leadership of Anabel Gage.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Milton G. Stroud of Elk Grove; her children, Pamela Small, Roger and David Stroud; and her grandchildren, Aaron, Noah and Jessica.
Mrs. Stroud was the sister of Charleen Schermerhorn and Pattie Wagner.
Graveside services were held June 1 in Hilltop Cemetery on Waterman Road. Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements were by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Mary Williams
Mary Williams, a 32-year resident of the Sacramento/Elk Grove area, died June 13, 2004 at the age of 92.
She was born Sept. 28, 1911 in  Oklahoma where she grew up. She was a homemaker, and besides raising her own children, was very involved in the care and raising of children of family and friends.
Mrs. Williams also spent 15 years working as a florist and, said her daughter, always had beautiful flower gardens.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Landsdown of Rio Vista and Cynthia Vincent of Elk Grove; and eight grandchildren, Paul Reed Jr., Paula and Keith Reed, Debbie O'Brian, Donna, Keith and Bob Landsdown and Phillip Watson. Paul Reed and wife Debbie cared for her during her last few years.
Mrs. Williams is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 17. Interment is in Fairmont Memorial Park, Fairfield.

Richard Griffin
Funeral services will take place Saturday, Nov. 5 for Richard Earl (Griff) Griffin who died in Elk Grove Oct. 31, 2005 at the age of 74.
Mr. Griffin was a resident of Sacramento all his life. He graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War in Morocco, North Africa. He retired after 45 years with the state of California, Department of Transportation.
Mr. Griffin’s interests included golf, horses, travel and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Gwen Kanemoto.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife of 13 years Norma Griffin; children Jennifer Kennedy, Jeffrey Griffin and Karen Stepps and husband Mike; and stepchildren Arlis Groves and husband Dan, Valerie Nail and Rusty Nail.
He was the grandfather of Jesse, Krystal, Nicholas, Kevin, Lindsay, Erin, Reed, Lauren, Emily and Amy; and is also survived by his first wife Marjorie Griffin.
Visitation will begin after noon on Saturday with the services beginning at 2 p.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Interment will be private.
Remembrances may be made to Easter Seals, 3205 Hurley Way, Sacramento, CA 95864.

Gwen Kanemoto
Gwen Christian Kanemoto, age 19 months, died April 5 when she was struck by a car on the 29 Palms Marine Corps Base.
She was born Sept. 7, 2001 in Sacramento to parents Nicholas and Erin Kanemoto. Her father, a USMC corporal, was stationed overseas when the accident occurred. The Red Cross relayed the message of his daughter's death and he was sent home to be with his wife and family.
Gwen is survived by her parents; her grandparents Dan and Arlis Groves and Steve and Cindy Kanemoto; aunts Lauren Groves and Emily Groves and uncle Thomas Kanemoto. She was the great-granddaughter of Richard and Lily Kanemoto, Al and Arlene Stratton, Richard and Norma Griffin, Ed and Jeanie Nail, Els and Philene Groves and Marilyn McCurdy. She also is survived by her great-great-grandmother, Wanetta Nail of Idaho, many great and great-great aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
Her family says she will always be their "Gwennie the Pooh," and she will be remembered as a beautiful little girl full of loving life, a gentle spirit and a great sense of humor who loved to read books, jump, dance, color, and play with her mother.
A memorial service was held Thursday, April 10 at Discovery Church, 9270 Bruceville Road in Elk Grove. A trust fund has been established to offset the service expenses. Donations can be sent to Pacific Marine Credit Union, c/o Gwen Kanemoto Memorial Fund 255805, MCX Complex, Camp Pendleton, CA 92055.

P. Warren Barnett
Pastor P. Warren Barnett, a resident of Wilton, died April 9, 2006 on his 86th birthday.
Pastor Barnett majored in Bible at Bob  Jones University, Greenville, S.C., following which he pastored seven churches during the next 55 years. Since retirement, he has served on the staff of the Wilton Bible Church, leading the Senior Friendship Club.
“He had a gentle way of dealing with people and situations that endeared him to many,” his family said.
Other interests included sports, building, cement work, tree trimming and music.
Pastor Barnett is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Barnett; daughters Sally Echevarria of Merced, Paula Mendez of Virginia and Lorna Burkhard of Sacramento; son Carey Barnett of Beaumont; and nine grandchildren.
He was the brother of Luther Barnett of Tulsa, Okla., Jewel Barnett and Faye Dumont of Muskogee, Okla., and Johnny Self of Arizona.
Remembrances may be made to the Wilton Bible Church, 9697 Dillard Road, Wilton, CA 95693, or to Gideons International for the placing of Bibles throughout the world.
