Cynthia Seeley
Former Blythe resident, Cynthia Marie Seeley, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000 in at her home in Murrieta, California. She was 50.
Mrs. Seeley was born Jan. 12, 1950 in Riverside, California. She graduated from Perris High School in 1967. She lived in Blythe for 17 years, and was a former member of the Blythe Junior Women’s Club. She resided in Murrieta and worked with her husband as a landscape designer from 1993-2000, receiving her landscape design certificate from Mt. San Antonio College in 1995.
She is survived by her parents, Clark and Eileen Connal of Hemet; husband, Tony Seeley of Murrieta; daughter, Stephanie Brooks of Ocean Beach; son, Brent Williams of Hemet; brother, David Connal of Prunedale; sister, Melinda Tune of Redding, Connecticut; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Seeley home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Grant Beckstrand Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 15451, Long Beach, CA 90851.

Doris Reynolds
Doris Marie Reynolds passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000 in Blythe. She was 65.
Mrs. Reynolds was born March 18, 1935 in Maude, Oklahoma. She moved to the Palo Verde Valley in 1937. She married James Reynolds on Aug. 31, 1952 in Quartzsite.
Mrs. Reynolds enjoyed fishing and working with arts and crafts, and entered some of her projects into the Colorado River Country Fair. She also enjoyed cooking and homemaking.
She is survived by her mother, Nellie M. Peoples of Huachuca City, Arizona; sons, Gary Reynolds of Blythe, Kenneth Reynolds of Southaven, Massachusetts, and Terry Reynolds of Plymouth, Minnesota; daughter, Sandra Heider of Chino Hills; brothers, James Peoples of Blythe, Robert Peoples of Ehrenberg, Arizona, Thomas Peoples of Fallon, Nevada, Ronald Peoples of Benson, Arizona, Paul Peoples and Donald Peoples, both of Salinas; sisters, Kathleen People of Blythe, Joanne Johnson of Sun City, Pauline Taylor of Huachuca City, Arizona, Shirley Vaughn of Houston, Texas, Brenda Large of Huachuca City, Carol Moore of Jackson, Mississippi, and Pamela Springs of Junction City, Oregon; eight grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and sister, Geraldine Regain.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 1 at Frye Chapel. Rev. Phillip Field of the Palo Verde Valley Christian Center officiated. Interment followed at Palo Verde Cemetery.

Velma Grassi
Former Blythe resident, Velma Elizabeth Grassi, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2000 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was 91.
Mrs. Grassi was born Velma Blaylock, Nov. 22, 1908 in Calvin, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in the Calvin area. She and her husband Clarence Evans and daughter, Maxine, moved to Blythe in 1936. Grassi worked for the Blythe Coffee Shop for 13 years, later co-owning the Desert Shop department store in Blythe with her sister and brother-in-law, Bessie and Paul Tuchfarber. She was also a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Blythe. After the death of her husband, she moved to Phoenix in 1969, where she retired and resided until her death.
She is survived by her daughter, Maxine Simpson of Glendale, Arizona; sister Bessie Tuchfarber of Temecula; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. She was the oldest of six living generations.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Clarence Evans, Reno Payne and Robert Grassi; two brothers, Cran and Frank Blaylock; and sister Thelma Grubbs-Erskin.

Eutima G. Lopez
Eutima G. Lopez, 91, died Tuesday in Blythe.
Mrs. Lopez was born March 28, 1910 in Sinnola, Mexico. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughters Dora Henry, Angie Guilin and Betty Zarate and son, John Lopez, all of Blythe; 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cirilo "Cecil" Lopez .
Visitation will be held at Frye Chapel on Friday at 4 p.m. A Rosary will be said at Frye Chapel on Friday at 7 p.m.
The funeral, officiated by Father Ron Rusk, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joan of Arc Church, 875 E. Chancellorway, Blythe. Internment will be at Palo Verde Cemetery.
Micaela Dominguez
Infant Micaela Rene Dominguez, four months, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 at Children’s Hospital in San Diego.
Micaela was born Sept. 11, 2000 at Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe.
She is survived by her parents, Rene and Sylvia Soto Dominguez of Blythe; brother, Walter W. Hilleger III and sister, Marley A. Hilleger, both of Blythe; maternal grandmother, Mary Soto of Blythe; paternal grandparents, Jose Dominguez, Sr. and Estela Dominguez, both of Blythe; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services will be tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 25, at 9 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Palo Verde Cemetery.

Lawrence Harvey
Lawrence Stuart Harvey, 68, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 in Blythe.
Mr. Harvey was born Oct. 5, 1932 in Coolidge, Ariz. He served three years in the United State Military during World War II. He was a cowboy and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed traveling and training animals, especially dogs.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Benstead of Joshua Tree; sisters, Marjorie Blythe and Carolyn Craig, both of Blythe; four grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Page, and two sisters, Gwendolyn Rowe and Jean Schaffer.
A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 22 at Frye Chapel. Interment was private.

Juanita Cornelius
Former valley resident, Juanita Blanche Cornelius, 89, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 in Glendora.
Mrs. Cornelius was born July 19, 1911 in Crescent, Okla. She was employed as a housekeeper and lived in the Palo Verde Valley for several years before moving to Los Angeles. She was a past president of the Blythe Women’s Club and very active in her church. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Richard Crum of Goldconda, Nev., daughter, Loretta Fay Nuñez, and son-in-law, Raymond Nevarez of Temple City; brothers, Harley Wells and Harvey Wells; sister Kathren Crow; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Cornelius and son, Walter Scott Cornelius.
A memorial service will be held today, Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Frye Chapel. Pastor B.K. Mullen of the Community United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Palo Verde Cemetery.

Chad Bunch
Chad Bryan Bunch, 35, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001 at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California.
Mr. Bunch was born June 7, 1965 in Riverside, California. He attended schools in Blythe and graduated Palo Verde High School in 1983. He was active in local baseball leagues and was All DVL at PVHS, as well as an All-Star infielder and pitcher.
He was employed in various jobs locally.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Hurst of Blythe; step-father, Danny Hurst of Blythe; two daughters, Tamara Hamilton and Brittany Bunch, both of Blythe; sister, Sonhia Johnson of Blythe; grandmother, Marjorie Blythe of Blythe; several aunts, uncles and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Frye Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. at Frye Chapel. Interment will follow at Palo Verde Cemetery.
