Rodney Michael Kleman

Rodney Michael Kleman, 68 of Salinas passed away Tuesday August 18, 2015. He was born March 9, 1947 in Dearborn Michigan.
Rod was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Salinas, Monterey Moose Lodge, California State Bar Association, Santa Cruz Woodies and the National Woodie Club.
Rod enjoyed traveling, meeting new people.
He also enjoyed old and new cars, especially Corvettes and Woodies.
But most of all he enjoyed being with his family.
He graduated from Michigan State and Wayne State Law School and was a practicing attorney for 42 years when he retired in 2012.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Rudolph and Mary Kleman.
Rod is survived by his wife Patricia of 48 years and two daughters, Wendi Morse and Gillian Kleman (Matt Parise).
His sister Cheryl (Ray) Norton of Michigan, brother, Brian (Christine) Kleman of Tecumseh Michigan.
Grandchildren, Max, Rigby and McCartney, nephews, Matthew Dixon, Brian and Scott Kleman and niece Kathy Mead.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St. Salinas 93901.
Memorial service will be held 11:00a.m., Friday August 28, 2015 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1230 Luther Way, Salinas 93901. Reception to follow.

Wendy Ann Baker
May 24, 1959 - August 18, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Wendy Ann Baker, 56 of Salinas died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born May 24, 1959 in Niles Michigan to Allen John Baker and Maude Ann Fahrbach.
Wendy was one of five daughters. Her parents raised her in rural Northern California where the Giant Redwoods and the Eel river was her playground.
She attended High School at the Monterey Bay Academy, and afterwards Pacific Union College where she pursued her interest in Botany.
Deciding on a life of service she graduated from the Maurine Church School of Nursing and served the community as a nurse for thirty years.
She initially worked as an ICU nurse at both Natividad Medical Center, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, and later Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oahu, Hawaii.
Lately she worked in the outpatient surgical unit at Natividad Medical Center.
She met her husband of 27 years, Dr. James Lew while working at Natividad, and after marriage were blessed with two daughters Zoe and Zephone.
Wendy lived life with an intensity and passion that was manifested in everything she did.
She possessed an inquisitive mind, was a voracious reader, an avid hiker, and loved tending to her garden.
A devoted mother, wife, friend and nurse she touched the lives of many in the community and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by both her parents Allen Baker and Maude Fahrbach.
Wendy is survived by her husband James Lew, daughters, Zoe Lew, and Zephone Lew, and sisters, Jill Presley of Portland, Oregon, Kristy Baker of Pasco, Washington, Beth Baker of Winterpark, Colorado, and Amanda Wilson of Noxon, Montana.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00a.m. to 11:30, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church, 830 Padre Drive, Salinas, CA 93901.

Edith Irene Miller
February 17, 1928 - September 21, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Edith Irene (Beck) Miller passed away on Monday September 21, 2015 at the age of 87. She was born February 17, 1928 in Salinas.
She graduated from Salinas High School in 1945, earned an AA degree from Salinas Junior College (Hartnell College) in 1947, and earned a BAED degree from California College of Arts and Crafts in 1951. For a short time before getting married she taught math and arts & crafts at Atascadero Union High School. married in August of 1952, Edith & Bill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2002.
Edith was a lifetime member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church and loved her church family very much. She was an excellent artist, loved painting with watercolors and was a member of Valley Art Gallery and the Salinas Valley Art Association for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. (Bill) Miller in 2003.
Edith is survived by her brothers, Verner R. Beck of Portland, OR. and Carl E. (Elsie) Beck of Redding, CA; children, Michael N. Miller (Susan Hall) of San Jose, CA; Lisa A. (Wayne) Shaddock of Salinas; and Ross W. (Tamara) Miller of Grants Pass, Oregon; and 8 beautiful grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 30, 2015 at
St. Ansgar's Lutheran church, 72 E. San Joaquin St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Donna Catherine Bailey
May 27, 1930 - September 12, 2015

Donna Catherine Bailey 85 of Salinas passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015. She was born May 27, 1930 in Oakdale, CA.
She was a member of Tree to Sea Decorative Artists, Monterey Peninsula Decorative Artists, Monterey County Horseman's Association, Supporter of Monterey County Sheriff's Posse, Volunteer - California Rodeo Hospitality Tent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Bailey.
Donna is survived by her son, Michael J. Bailey of Jamestown, CA., daughter, Patricia M. Bailey of Salinas, grandson, Sean (Carrie) Bailey of Hampton, VA., great granddaughter, Hanna Bailey, great grandson, Ryan Bailey, grandson, Terrance (Kelly) Bailey of North Pole, AK.

Elaine Olivia (Zahn) Dillard
March 23, 1925 - September 13, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Elaine Olivia (Zahn) Dillard, 90, of Salinas passed away peacefully Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Mary Lord Care Home. Elaine was born in Snyder, Nebraska, March 23, 1925. Her family moved to Salinas in 1941.
She and her husband, Darl, founded Valley Archery Shop in 1958, which is now Valley Trophies and Detectors presently owned and operated by their son, Kurt.
Elaine enjoyed bowling and golfing and was a master bridge player. She will be remembered for her love of family and will be greatly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul & Olivia Zahn, brother, Dwain Zahn, sister, Bonnie Husman and husband Darl Dillard.
She is survived by her sons Gary Dillard and Kurt Dillard (Bonnie), daughter Janet Peterson and grandchildren Staci, Shannan, Christian, Stephanie, Lanie, and numerous great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015, at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901, with a reception to follow.

Eugene "Gene" Louis Spencer
May 25, 1939 - September 19, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Eugene 'Gene" Louis Spencer passed away Saturday morning, September 19, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Gene was born in Fresno on May 25, 1939, an only child, to Margaret and Louis Spencer. He attended schools in Fresno and Monterey. He also attended Monterey Peninsula College.
Gene was married to his wife Nancy for 55 years. They were married in King City and moved to San Francisco. Gene and Nancy later moved to the Salinas Valley settling in Salinas.
Gene started Tire and Wheel World in 1983 and later built and established Salinas Self Storage.
He liked to travel and saw much of the United States and the world. His favorite places included Hawaii and New Zealand. Bampa(Gene) and Nancy loved traveling with their grandchildren, taking all 6 grandchildren to Seattle and going to Cal football games.
Gene worked hard and loved to play hard. His passions, after his family, were entertaining family and friends in Arroyo Seco and at Motel 4 1/2. Gene loved to ski and spent many days at Bear Valley teaching friends to ski. He will also be remembered for his Memorial Day Birthday Bashes.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Janie Grace, son, Michael (Cherry), grandchildren Douglas, Jacob, Nickolas, and Thomas, Matthew, Kalli, Kim, Kate, and Katrina. Gene also considered his Bunte nephews and nieces as his children.
The family would like to thank Gene's wonderful caregivers Ana, Fe and Billy. The support Gene and his family received from his many friends and family has made the last ten years easier.
Gene lived a "Mighty Fine" life.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal Street, Salinas, 93901.
Rosary will be held Thursday, September 24, 2015, 7:00 pm, at Alta Vista Mortuary.
Memorial Mass will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 1:00 pm at Madonna del Sasso Church, 320 East Laurel Drive, Salinas, 93906.
Burial will be held at the King City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Antonio Mission, End of Mission Road, Jolon, CA. 93928 the Alzheimer's Association, 21 Lower Ragsdale Drive, Monterey, CA 93940 or a charity of your choice.
