Loy Lavern Recek

Loy Lavern Recek, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Salinas, California on March 17, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born May 16, 1923 in Sanger, California and moved to Salinas when he was 3 years old, where he remained for the rest of his life.
Loy graduated from Salinas High school in 1941 prior to serving as a Naval Officer and Aviator in World War II. Following the war, Loy was a partner in Hicks Lumber Company from 1945 – 1982.
Loy was married to his high school sweetheart, Melva Elaine Hicks, for over 70 years. He was an active volunteer in the Salinas California Rodeo serving as a Director for 22 years and an active member of Salinas Elks for more than 57 years. Loy later spent 19 years active in Sons of Retirement #56 (SIRS) serving as Treasurer. He was recently awarded an Honorary SIRS Lifetime Membership for his many years of Service.
Loy is survived by his wife Melva Hicks Recek of Salinas; brother Art Recek of Long Beach, CA; daughter Loyann Stoneburg (Ross) of Salinas; son Dale Recek (Joanne) of Orlando, FL; granddaughter Jennifer Stoneburg and great-grandchildren Alisa, James & Jessica Flores of Salinas; grandson Jason Recek (Erika) and great-grandson Adam Recek of Orlando, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Sunday March 22, 2015 at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 West San Luis, Salinas, 93901.
A Memorial Service will also be held there at 11:00 a.m. Monday March 23, 2015 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, Ca 93901. (Aloha attire requested)

Mary Jean Dennis, 91 of Gonzales passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Salinas. She was born December 6, 1923 in Massena, Iowa.
She was a Secretary for California State Dept. of Rehabilitation for 31 years.
She was a member of Monterey County Democratic Committee and California State Retirees ORG.
Mary is survived by her son, Patrick Dennis, granddaughter, Jennifer Dennis, and grandson, Jonathan Dennis.
Memorial Celebration will be held 11:00a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Queen of Heaven Chapel, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, Ca. 93907

Julie Lynn Jones 51, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. She was born December 23, 1963 in San Angelo, TX. Julie was a loving wife and mother, a believer in Jesus Christ and a true friend to anyone she knew.
She married on March 26, 1988 to David Jones.
Julie worked at Vegetable Growers Supply for 24 years.
Proceeded in death by Shirley & Brady Connor and Don Wolf.
Julie is survived by her loving husband David Jones, her beautiful daughters - Shawnna Enos and Leanne Jones, her brother Chris (Jackie) Connor, nephews and nieces.

Stephen L. Guidotti 58 of Salinas passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014. He was born September 24, 1956 in Salinas, CA.
He owned and operated Roadrunner Awnings (beep-beep).Volunteer at CASA Organization for Foster Children in Monterey County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Mary F. Guidotti.
He is survived by his son, Lucas Guidotti, sister Nan (Frank) Elias, niece, Sarah Elias, nephew, Michael (Carrie-Anne) Elias and many good friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901. Reception will immediately follow.
Deborah Elaine Wright

Deborah Elaine Wright went to be with our Heavenly Father on March 3, 2015. With faith and inner strength, she fought a long journey with cancer with unparalleled resilience and grace.
Debbie was a devoted mother, loving daughter and sister, and loyal friend.
She was preceded in death by her father, John W. Wright.
Surviving family members are: daughter, Haley Wright of Salinas; mother, Janet E. Wright of Royal Oaks; brothers, John (Linda) Wright of Aromas and Mark (Lisa) Wright of Corral de Tierra; 3 nieces, 2 nephews and 1 great niece; lifelong friend of 42 years, Terria (Lee) Odom-Wolfer and their children.
Debbie's unconditional love and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born in Sturgis, Michigan, on January 16, 1959, to Janet (Myers) and John Wright, the family moved to Salinas on her 3rd birthday. Debbie graduated from Watsonville High in 1978 and received a degree as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant from Mt. Hood Jr. College in Gresham, Oregon. In 1986, Debbie traveled to Australia serving as a missionary for the Youth with a Mission organization; her desire to serve the Lord and impact lives was a lifelong commitment. She attended MPC and CSUMB receiving a teaching credential in 2002. Debbie spent her career as a kindergarten teacher. She adored her little ones, and children delighted in being in her class. In 2005 Debbie achieved her dream of becoming a mother by adopting her daughter, Haley, her greatest joy. Debbie was an active member of Salinas Valley Community Church. She was dearly loved and developed lifelong relationships with members of churches she attended throughout her life. In November of 2013, women from all over the country gathered locally for healing prayer, recounting memories, and demonstrating their commitment to Jesus.
Debbie's infectious laugh and gift for telling stories made spending time together a pleasure. Her greatest gift was listening often over a cup of tea. Debbie was regarded as "fabulous", full of faith, strength, spirit and grace.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of her life at Salinas Valley Community Church, 368 San Juan Grade Road, Salinas, Ca. 93906 on Saturday, March 28th, at 10:00 am. Services followed by refreshments.

Belinda Savan Jimenez

Belinda Savan Jimenez, 57 of Salinas passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, March 10, 2015.
She was born October 17, 1957 in Salinas, Ca.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Ruby Elam, and brother, Terry Elam.
She is survived by her husband, Manuel A. Jimenez of Salinas, daughter, Christina (David) Urquidez of Salinas, son, Edwin Victorine of Salinas, two step daughters, Brianna Jimenez, Arianna Jimenez, step sons, Daniel Jimenez, Matthew (Edith) Jimenez all of Sacramento, 5 grandchildren, Jacob Urquidez, Madison Urquidez, Ayden Jimenez, Joseph Fabian, and Emma Fabian.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:30p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St. Salinas, Ca. 93901.
Leonard Dale Sims
June 19, 1949 - September 4, 2014

Leonard Dale Sims, 65 of Salinas, beloved husband, Dad and Papa, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 19, 1949 in Salinas, CA and resided there his entire life.
Family was very important to him and he enjoyed family barbeques, hosting holiday gatherings; Christmas being his all time favorite, listening to "Oldies" and attending car shows.
Next to his family, cars were his second love.
In Leonard's healthier years he undertook the restoration of his 1958 Chevy Impala, which resulted in a beautiful multi award winning car.
He took great pride in that accomplishment.
He and Carolyn were members of the Salinas Valley Street Rodders and served on the Board of Directors for many years.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Dillard Sims, Mother, Rhoda Sims, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 46 years and high school sweetheart, Carolyn Sims of Salinas.
He is also survived by daughters, Carrie (Scott) Pearce of Salinas, Leslie (J.J.) Lakey of Kingsburg, CA., brother Larry (Cindy) Sims of Salinas, four grandbabies, Christopher, Caitlyn, Emma and Lauren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and Wiley, his dog, who was constantly by his side. It wasn't until the last ten days of his life and talking with his many visitors that we learned just how many lives he had touched, changed and taught over the years. He will be missed by so many and remain forever in our hearts.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
