Arza K. Dillard
September 3, 1931 - February 13, 2015
Resided in King City, CA
Arza K. Dillard, 83 of King City, CA arrived at Heaven's Gate on Friday, February 13, 2015. He was born in Maumee, Arkansas September 3, 1931.
Arza graduated from Salinas High School in 1950 and later continued on to Hartnell Jr. College to obtain his AA. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1955 during the Korean War on the US Yorktown. After returning home, he was employed by Steelfab, later becoming a partner in Dillard Brothers Company. He also worked for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical as a Quarry Supervisor and Explosive Engineer and retiring from National Refractories after many years of service to become a Cattle Rancher in King City.
He was a past member of the Salinas Elks Lodge 614 for 40 years, Irish Setter Club of Central CA, and current member of the American Legion Post 31 (Salinas), and the Monterey County Cattlemen's Association.
Arza was preceded in death by his parents, Arlin R. Dillard, Eula (Susie) Dillard-Hunter of Salinas and brother Earl Dillard of Anderson, CA.
Arza is survived by his wife Margie Dillard of 58 years; his daughters Dee Ann Pereira of King City, Christina Schlough (Charles) of Salinas and son Brian Dillard of King City; his brother Arlin R. (Chuck) Dillard, Jr. of Salinas, his cousin Joe Williams of Salinas; his grandchildren Michael Dillard (Jen), Cheryl Gimple (Paul), Amy Dillard, Jaime Dillard, Steven Pereira and Heather Hering (Elmer); 10 Great Grandchildren and 5 Nephews.
Private services were held at Struve and Laporte with immediate family on February 14, 2015.
Celebration of life will be held 4:00p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Echoes from Calvary Church at 1025 Post Drive, Salinas, CA 93906
Memorials may be made to Monterey County Cattlemen's Assoc. – Scholarship Program (King City), Salvation Army or Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
Funeral arrangements by Struve and Laporte Funeral Home.

Ben Angel Sigala passed away on February 24th, 2015 in Salinas, Ca.
Visitation will be held Wednesday March 4th, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, 41 west San Luis Street Salinas, Ca 93901.
Chapel Service will be held Thursday March 5th, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel.

Donald Leigh Suggett
June 22, 1928 - March 10, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Donald Leigh Suggett passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the age of 86. He passed quietly after a long decline in health.
Don was born on June 22, 1928 to Elmer and Rose Suggett in Sacramento, CA.
He spent his school years in Sacramento, and then graduated from UC Davis. He moved to Salinas with his first wife, Doris, to work for SoilServ where he stayed for 30 years until his retirement.
He worked in the agriculture fields for 14 years, checking and treating the crops for pests, and then served as their president for the remaining 16 yrs. During this time Don and Doris divorced.
Carol Peterson came into his life and became his wife and life partner for the next 40 years.
Don had a passion for aviation, acquiring his pilot's license at the age of 17 years. Flying was always a great joy for him. He was a skilled musician playing the trumpet during High School and College.
That passion translated into always listening to great era music and sharing it with his family. Don was introduced to snow skiing during his youth and became an avid skier.
He shared his love of skiing with his family that enjoyed many family ski trips. He was a charter member of the Corral de Tierra Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf and tennis.
Don enjoyed traveling and visited many different countries during his life.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son Brad, his brother Robert Suggett and his parents.
Don is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Suggett; daughters, Susan (Dave) Hunter and Leslie (Shaun) Mills; son, Brian Suggett; step-son, Jay Peterson; step-daughter, Lynn Oswalt; and his sister, Joyce Frank.
He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Don will be greatly missed and will live in our memories forever. A Memorial and Celebration of his life will be held on 1:00p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 315 E. Alvin Drive, Salinas, Ca. 93906.

Ernest "Jay" Martinez, Jr.
October 8, 1963 - March 13, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Ernest "Jay" Martinez 51, of Salinas passed away Friday, March 13, 2015. He was born October 8, 1963 in Sacramento, Ca.
Jay is preceded in death by sister Laura Martinez, brother Kerry Martinez and mother Janet Zaloski.
He is survived by his children Amanda, Sonny, Rebecca, Jessica, Kathy & Christopher and 2 grandchildren.
Also survived by his siblings Paula, Barbara, Gary, Renee, Mike, Kelly & many nieces & nephews.
Jay was a loving father and husband. His family is what made and kept him happy all the time. He was known for his sense of humor, his loving personality, joyful presence and his loving and giving heart. Jay is a great loss to his family.
We will have his Celebration of Life service at 11:00a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 Valley Baptist Church, 320 Church St. Salinas Ca.93901 followed by a small reception. Here we will gather to celebrate the man who brought so much happiness and love to everyone he knew.

Hiram G. Matthews 94, of Salinas passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 in Salinas. He was born January 27, 1921 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
He was a Building Contractor for 70 years.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lolita Matthews, grandson, Daniel, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Hiram is survived by his wife of 33 years, Doris Matthews, daughter, Cheryl Fayter, son David Matthews, grandchildren, Brett Swain, Caitlin Matthews and Casey Matthews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, Ca. 93901.

Linda Kennedy
October 22, 1957 - March 8, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Linda Kennedy died peacefully in her home on Sunday, March 8, 2015, of ovarian cancer. She was 57 years old.
Linda was born October 22, 1957 in Pontiac, Illinois, to Lyle and Dorothy Stalter, and grew up in Flanagan, IL. She graduated from Taylor University in Upland, IN, before moving to California, where she met and married Kirk Kennedy in 1983. They made their home and raised their two children, Maren and Jaemen, in Kirk's hometown of Salinas.
Linda was a supportive mother and was very involved in her children's schooling. She volunteered for many years at Ariel Theatrical, eventually becoming the executive director. Linda was a devout Christian, attending Saint Ansgar's Lutheran Church.
Linda is survived by her husband Kirk; her daughter and son-in-law, Maren and Max Wise of Vallejo, CA; and her son, Jaemen Kennedy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on 2:00p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 in the Sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church of Salinas, 830 Padre Drive. All are welcome to attend.
Memorials may be made to Ariel Theatrical, P.O. Box 1268, Salinas, CA 93902.

Burial will follow at Castroville District Cemetery, 8442 Moss Landing Road, Moss Landing, CA.
