Shirley Ann Armstrong
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) for Shirley Ann Armstrong, 60, of Ceres. She died of natural causes on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs.
Born Nov. 14, 1944 Mrs. Armstrong was a native of Hinton, Okla., and lived in Ceres for 44 years. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Armstrong has attended John F. Kennedy School in Ceres.
She leaves behind her daughter, Avis Ann Armstrong of Twain Harte; her mother, Lois Etta Armstrong of Ceres; four brothers, Charles Armstrong of Buhl, Idaho, G.W. Armstrong of Crows Landing, and James Armstrong and John Armstrong, both of Ceres; and her sister, Etta Smith of Ceres.

Anita G. McGuire
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in Modesto for Anita Gaye Crossland McGuire, 68, of Modesto. She died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at Evergreen Rehabilitation Care Center.
Burial will be at Ceres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Born Sept. 30, 1936, Mrs. McGuire was a native of Caney, Okla., and had lived in Modesto since 1989. She previously lived in Stockton for 52 years. Mrs. McGuire was an office worker for 18 years at Dameron Hospital in Stockton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ceres and the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. McGuire was active in women's ministries, and enjoyed crocheting and cooking.
She leaves behind her husband, James T. McGuire of Modesto; five children, Vickie Allman of Valley Springs, Bill Cartwright of Ceres, Tina Marie Mekel of Lancaster, Thomas McGuire of Oregon and Tammera McGuire Bradshaw of Washington; her brother, Clyde Crossland of Stockton; her sister, Karen Sue Bussell of Idaho; and 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Vannie W. Blocher
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at West Modesto Meetinghouse of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Modesto, for Vannie William Blocher, 100, of Ceres. He died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at his home.
Burial will be at Wood Colony cemetery in Modesto.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.
Born Jan. 23, 1904, Mr. Blocher was a native of Minot, N.D. and lived in Ceres for four years. He previously lived in Modesto for 75 years. Mr. Blocher was a dairy farmer in Modesto from 1933 to 1966, then was a grain harvester operator for B&B; Harvesting in Modesto for 15 years. He was a member of Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Mr. Blocher volunteered at the Salvation Army's Red Shield Center, and enjoyed gardening and travel.
He leaves behind five children, Eugene Blocher of Porterville, Paul Blocher of San Jose, and Morris Blocher, Ervin Blocher and Arlene Christian, all of Ceres; two sisters, Effie Jennings of Yerington, Nev., and Eva Hendley of Neosho, Mo.; and 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Ellen Blocher; six brothers; and two sisters.

Curtis Burke
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday (today) at Lakewood Memorial Park for Curtis Burke, 76, of Ceres. He died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Lakewood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born March 3, 1928, Mr. Burke was a native of Bochita, Okla., and lived in Ceres for 73 years. He was president of Modesto Wholesale Meat and a member of Moose Lodge 1608.
Mr. Burke leaves behind three children, Ed Burke of Modesto, Jon Burke of Anchorage, Alaska, and Cindy Soares of Crows Landing; his brother, Herb Burke of Sparks, Nev.; two sisters, Goldie Chatham and Johnnie Bishop, both of Modesto; and eight grandchildren.

Patrick D. Corbin
A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the McHenry Chapel of Franklin and Downs for Patrick David Corbin, 48, of Modesto. He died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004 at his home.
Services will conclude at the chapel.
Born Sept. 22, 1956, Mr. Corbin was a native of Red Bluff and lived in Modesto for 20 years. He was a 1975 graduate of Sonora High School. Mr. Corbin was a service repairman for Tuolumne RV.
He leaves behind his mother, Joan A. Corbin of Riverbank; his brother, Michael D. Corbin of Modesto; his sister, Laurie A. Hanke of Thousand Oaks; and his grandmother, Gloria Russell of San Jose. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard D. Corbin.
Leroy Morgan, Sr.
Leroy Morgan, Sr., 59, of Stockton died Monday, Sept. 27 at his home.
A native of Colorado, he lived in the Oakdale-Riverbank area for 58 years prior to moving to Stockton two years ago. He was a carpenter for Teamsters Union Local #25 for 41 years.
He is survived by his children, Debra Smith of Oakdale, Leroy Morgan, Jr. of Florida and LaDonna Rhodes of Oakdale; sister, Ida Kennedy of Riverbank; brothers, Everett Morgan of Stockton, Albert Morgan of North Carolina and Bert Morgan of Hilmar; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life services were held on Monday, Oct. 4 at Riverbank Memorial Chapel. No visitation.

Jud McAfee
Jud McAfee, 43, of Oakdale died Sunday, Oct. 31 at his home.
A native of White Sulphur Springs, Montana, he lived in Oakdale for 17 years. He was a cattle rancher for five years.
He belonged to the California Team Roping Association, West Coast Roping Association, United States Team Roping Club and the National Senior Pro Roping Association.
He is survived by his wife, Dani G. McAfee of Oakdale; mother, Florence McAfee of Montana; brothers, Lyle McAfee of South Carolina, Pat McAfee of Escalon and Bart McAfee of Reno, Nev.
Memorial service was held on Thursday, Nov. 4 at Oakdale Saddle Club.

Ethel Jones
Ethel Josephine McRoberts Jones, 77, of Oakdale died Friday, Oct. 1 at her home.
A native of Pittsburgh, Penn., she lived in Oakdale for 53 years. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children, James Jones of Escalon, Lynda Jones of Oakdale and Jill Hunt of Riverbank; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cindy Hutson
Cindy Louise Hutson, 42, of Riverbank died Sunday, Sept. 26 at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Stockton.
A native of Turlock, she lived in Riverbank for 10 years. She was a bank teller at Wells Fargo Bank for 17 years. She belonged to First Missionary Church, Riverbank; Royal Neighbors and was active in sports activities.
She is survived by her children, Jessica Hutson and Ryan Hutson, both of Riverbank; brother, Bennett Talbert of Modesto; parents, Elmo and Donna Talbert of Riverbank.
Graveside services were Friday, Oct. 1 at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. Visitation was held at Riverbank Memorial Chapel.

C. Lowell Coleman
C. Lowell Coleman, 62, of Tracy died Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Veterans Administration Hospital, Palo Alto.
A native of Monterey Park, he lived in Escalon and the San Joaquin County area for many years before residing in Tracy for the last two years. He worked as an artificial inseminator technician for 36 years. He served in the U.S. Army. He belonged to the V.F.W. in Ripon and the Lakeside Chapel at the San Joaquin River Club.
He is survived by his wife, Trevia Coleman of Tracy; children, Debbie Jones of Modesto, Tom Hamilton of Oakdale, David Hamilton of Mississippi, Lorie Hawkins of Bakersfield, Christy Zoucha of Turlock and Jim Hamilton of Escalon; brother, David Coleman of Los Angeles; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Clifford Coleman and brother, Larry Coleman.
Funeral services were held at Oakdale Church of the Nazarene on Monday, Oct. 4. Burial followed at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson.
