Carl Norton
A memorial service was held Thursday at Valley View Church of the Nazarene for Carl Norton, 68, of Ceres. He died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at the University of California Medical Center at San Francisco.
The Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.
Born Sept. 5, 1936, Mr. Norton was a native of Chickasha, Okla., and lived in Ceres for 16 years. He previously lived in Newark. Mr. Norton was a truck driver for six years, last working for Swift Transportation. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Norton was a member of Valley View Church of the Nazarene.
He leaves behind his wife, Myrna Norton of Ceres; his children, Donda Mellor and Darrell Norton, both of Pittsburg, Toni Elliott of Idaho, Pamela Dunlap of Newark, Douglas Norton of Pleasanton, Karla Camicia of Ceres and Bradley Norton of Auburn; two sisters, Joy O'Donnell of Nebraska and Annette O'Bryan of Brentwood; and 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Harriette Norton; a son, Donnie Norton; brothers Robert Norton and J.F. Norton; and sister Ruby Husley.

G. Wayne Coburn Sr.
A graveside service was held Friday at Lakewood Memorial Park for G. Wayne Coburn Sr., 82, of Empire. The former Hughson resident died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at his home.
Lakewood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born Nov. 23, 1921, Mr. Coburn was a native of Ulman, Mo., and lived in Empire a few years after living in Hughson most of his life. He worked as a teamster in highway and road construction, owned and operated water trucks and had worked for the California Conservation Corps. Mr. Coburn was a Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He leaves behind his wife, Tressa Coburn of Empire; three children, Gerald Wayne Coburn Jr. of Denair, Carolyn Wheatley of Elk Grove and Darlene Lepper of Hughson; his sister, Lillian Coburn of Sacramento; and eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Frank L. Gilmore
Riverbank Memorial Chapel was in charge of private services for Frank Leroy Gilmore, 71, of Waterford. He died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004 at Oak Valley District Hospital in Oakdale.
Born Oct. 21, 1933, Mr. Gilmore was a native of Texas and lived in Waterford for 11 years. He was a farm laborer for 20 years, and also served in the Army.
Mr. Gilmore leaves behind his wife, Rosie Gilmore of Waterford; five children, Danny Gilmore, Barbara Marcial and Betty Raynosa, all of Oregon, Darlene Moffitt of Susanville and Terry Gilmore of Waterford; his mother, Margaret Fuller of Ceres; his brother, Edgar Gilmore of Ceres; and 12 grandchildren and 28 great-granchildren.
Ruth M. Thomas
A chapel service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Lakewood Funeral Home for Ruth Mae Lambert Thomas, 88, of Ceres. She died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson.
Born March 8, 1916, Mrs. Thomas was a native of Arkansas and had lived in Ceres since 1986. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Thomas leaves behind her son, Ted Wilkinson of Ceres; her brother, Leon Lambert of Sapulpa, Okla.; and three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Paul C. Bert
A memorial service is pending for Paul Christian Bert, 96, of Modesto. He died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004 at his home.
Lakewood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born March 10, 1908, Mr. Bert was a native of Lurgan, Pa., and lived in Modesto for 61 years. He was in the banking industry for 25 years, and worked at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson for 19 years.
Mr. Bert leaves behind his wife, Pauline Bert of Modesto; two children, Pamela Forbes of Vista and Paula Webb of Modesto; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother; and three sisters.

Kyle A. Robinson
Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.
A funeral was held Tuesday at the Ceres Seventh-day Adventist Church for Kyle Andrew Robinson, 14, of Modesto. He died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004 at his home.
Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park.
Born Sept. 19, 1990, Kyle was a native of Gainesville, Fla., and had lived in Modesto since 1991. He attended Modesto Adventist Academy in Ceres, and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Kyle enjoyed drawing, skateboarding, football and wrestling.
He leaves behind his parents, Michele Ortiz of Modesto and Issaic Hernandez of Ocala, Fla.; four brothers, Samuel M. Robinson, Aaron B. Robinson, Xavier S. Duarte and Gabriel A. Ortiz, all of Modesto; his sister, Megan A. Thompson of Modesto; and his grandparents, Doris and Ervin Jarvis of Ceres, and Roman and Phobe Hernandez of Mexico.
William F. Mills
Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Lakewood Funeral Home, Hughson.
A Mass was held Friday at Lakewood Funeral Home for William "Bill" F. Mills, 61, a longtime resident of Turlock and Hughson and former Hughson city councilman. Mr. Mills died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at his Turlock home.
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born March 23, 1943 in Salinas, Mr. Mills lived in the Turlock and Hughson area most of his life. He graduated from Turlock High School in 1961. Mr. Mills owned and operated Triad Security Systems, and he served on the Hughson City Council in the 1990s. He enjoyed flying, history and guns. Mr. Mills was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
He leaves behind his wife, Ann Mills of Turlock; five daughters, Heather Stewart of Turlock, Kim Irelan of Stockton, Tracy Castillo of Lodi, and Christine Shell and Cindy Shell, both of Hughson; his mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Lawrence Soltero of Turlock; his sister, Jo Ann Foster of Ceres; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Norberto Saldivar, Sr.
Norberto G. Saldivar, Sr., 82, of Riverbank died Tuesday, Nov. 23 at Oak Valley Hospital.
A native of Colorado, he lived in Riverbank for 35 years. He worked at Contadina for 30 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local #748 and St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores R. Saldivar of Riverbank; children, Catalina Villavicencio, Yolanda Garcia, Renya Saldivar, Patricia Saldivar, all of Riverbank, Linda Saldivar of Santa Ana, Maria Vizcaino of Ceres, Juventino Saldivar of Modesto and Veronica Mendoza of Escalon; brothers, Felipe Saldivar of Mexico, Francisco Saldivar of Woodlake and Augustin Saldivar of Riverbank; 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Norberto Saldivar, Jr. and grandson, Gerardo Saldivar.
Rosary and mass were said. Burial was held on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation was held.

Marie Fox
Marie Fox, 83, of Oakdale died Sunday, Nov. 21 at Riverbank Nursing Center.
A native of Oklahoma, she lived in Oakdale for 51 years. She was a homemaker. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star and was past deputy grand matron of Northern California.
She is survived by her children, Pauline Ward of Oakdale, Robert Fox of Oakland and Glenn Fox of Oklahoma; brothers, Paul Hess of Washington, Calvin Hess of Modesto, William Hess of Salida; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Fox and daughter, Mary Lou Loucks.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Richard William Henning
Retired Postal Worker
Richard William Henning, 85, passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at his Manteca home. He was born on April 10, 1919 in New York City, and spent 48 years as a resident of Manteca.
Mr. Henning was an Army Veteran who served in WWII from 1944-45 where was injured and received a purple heart, EAME service recognition, a Victory Medal, and good conduct medals. He was also a member of the Veteran Foreign Wars post 6311.
After his time in the Army, Richard was a Post Office worker for 25 years in Manteca, and was a member St. Mary's Episcopal Church. He enjoyed doing handyman work.
Mr. Hnning was preceded in death by his wife Emily Henning.
He is survived by his dear friend Marjorie Nicholls of Manteca, his children Richard Henning Jr. of Texas, Robert Henning of Stockton, and Judie Rose of Pioneer, as well as his sister Dorothy Kraus of North Carolina.
He had 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at P.L. Fry and Sons Funeral Home in Manteca. A service will take place at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, located at 1060 Cottage Avenue, Friday at 1 p.m.
He will be laid to rest at the Ripon Cemetery.
