John G. Bennett

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ceres Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for John Gregory Bennett, 57, of Ceres. He died Sunday, March 14, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Eaton Family Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be at Ceres Memorial Park.

Born May 8, 1946, Mr. Bennett was a native of Detroit and lived in Ceres for 35 years. He was a diesel mechanic and owned Wizard Repair in Ceres for 20 years. Mr. Bennett was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ceres 2nd Ward. A Navy veteran, Mr. Bennett enjoyed building and racing hot rods and benefit car shows.

He leaves behind his wife, Jessie Bennett of Ceres; three sons, Jeff Lewis and Chris Warner, both of Modesto, and Scott Warner of Atwater; his brother, Ray Bennett of Coarsegold; his sister, Barbara Backus of Michigan; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Warner.

Remembrances may be sent to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, c/o Bishop Keith Mills, 3808 Royal Ann Drive, Ceres, CA 95307.

Josefina Ramirez

Josefina Ramirez, 78, of Riverbank died Friday, March 19 at Hylond Convalescent Hospital.

A native of Holtville, she lived in Riverbank for 34 years, previously residing in Southern California. She was a housekeeper for 25 years. She belonged to the Apostolic Church for many years.

She is survived by her children, Clara Ruiz of Marysville, Wash., Anastacio Nunez of Modesto and Martina Sotelo of Riverbank; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the Apostolic Assembly Church. Visitation was held.

Riverbank Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Michael Johnny Kinlaw

Line Foreman

Michael Johnny Kinlaw, 51, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at his residence in Manteca. He was born in Stockton on Oct. 20, 1952. He was a long time resident of Manteca. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Johnny Kinlaw, (Jan. 2, 1958) and Nell Kinlaw (Nov. 10, 1979.)

Mr. Kinlaw is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diamond Kinlaw of Manteca; children, Mike (& Carla) Kinlaw Jr., Stephanie Kinlaw, and Lance Kinlaw all of Manteca; siblings, Cathey Kinlaw and Dudley Kinlaw of Manteca; four grandchildren, Austin Kinlaw, Nathan Kinlaw, Cayla Kinlaw, and Mia Kinlaw all of Manteca; mother and father-in-law, Sam and Rachel Mendoza of Manteca; numerous aunts, uncles and close relations. He was preceded in death by grandparents, the late Jessie Potter, who passed away in June 8, 1989, and Ova Potter, who passed away in Sept. 11, 1998.

Michael was a line foreman for Owens Illinois Glass Manu. in Tracy for 30 years. He was a member of East Main Church of Christ of Stockton. He graduated from Manteca High School class of 1971. He was an avid outdoorsman which included his love for camping. He loved life and people. Michael will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, Mar. 31, 2004, 1 to 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son. Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 1 at 10 a.m. at P.L. Fry, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca. Interment will be private.

Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave., Modesto, CA 95350.

John J.R. Hulsey

Former Eckerts Cold Storage Employee

John J.R. Hulsey, 81, went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2004. Beloved husband of Vivian Irene of Manteca. Loving father of John A. Hulsey of Manteca, Troy L. Hulsey of Los Banos, and Valerie R. Robertson of Manteca. Dear Papa of 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

John loved spending time camping, fishing, water skiing and going on cruises with his family. He had lived in Manteca for 60 years and worked at Eckerts Cold Storage and Occidental Chemical.

Park View Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. A Memorial will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 1812 W. Matthews Rd., French Camp.

Marlene Wilson

Marlene Ann Wilson, 67, of Oakdale died Monday, March 22 at her home.

A native of Southgate, she lived in Oakdale for 41 years. She was a licensed vocational nurse for 25 years.

She is survived by her children, Michael Wisecup of Oakdale, Scott Wilson of Springville, Sharon Collins of Boone, Iowa, Deborah Wells of Ione and Elizabeth Cork of Old Town, Idaho; sister, Sandra Martin of Modesto; brother, Harold Arneson of Piedmont; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Oaklawn Memorial Park. Visitation was held.

Remembrances may be sent to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Ave., Modesto, CA 95350.

Jane B. Claunch

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Jane Blanche Claunch, 76, of Modesto. She died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at Doctors Medical Center.

Burial will be private at Ceres Memorial Park.

Born Aug. 30, 1928, Ms. Claunch was a native of Sterling, Idaho, and had lived in Modesto since 1962. She was a bookkeeper and office manger for 32 years and had worked for Brown-Vilas Farms in the Ceres-Keyes area. Mrs. Claunch was a member of Soroptimist International and enjoyed travel, gardening and bird-watching.

She leaves behind her fiance, Ervin S. Blocher of Ceres; her brother, Harold Claunch of Sterling, Idaho; and two sisters, Florence Papraski of Trenton, N.J., and Ola Cornforth of Caldwell, Idaho.

Julian M. Ruiz

A graveside service was held Monday afternoon at Burwood cemetery in Escalon for Julian Molina Ruiz, infant, of Modesto. He died Nov. 23, 2004 at Children's Hospital Central California in Madera.

Born Oct. 3, 2004, Julian is survived by his parents, Courtney Bettencourt and Richard Ruiz, both of Modesto; his sister, Gabriella Ruiz of Modesto; his grandparents, Brian and Candace Bettencourt, both of Modesto, Marlene Sisto of Modesto and Richard Ruiz Sr. of San Jose; and his great-grandparents, Jill and Gerald Bettencourt of Ceres, Mario Sisto of Ceres, Sharon and Joe Coker of Oregon, Skip Bennefield of Modesto and Louisa Ruiz of San Jose.

Remembrances may be sent to Children's Hospital Central California, 9300 Valley Children's Place, Madera, CA 93638.

Tony P. Bravo Jr.

No public services were held for Tony Phillip Bravo Jr., 60, of Ceres. He died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004 at his home.

Born June 27, 1944, Mr. Bravo was a native of Texas and lived in the Ceres and Modesto area for 25 years. He was a tour guide and limousine driver and had worked at End of the Trail Tattoo Shop in Modesto.

He leaves behind his wife, Vickie Bravo of Ceres; three children, Lydia Bravo and Kai Bravo, both of Ceres, and Maria Woods of Modesto; his father, Anthony Phillip Bravo Sr. of Aromas; two sisters, Nancy Madruga of Aromas and Cindy Elias of Chattanooga, Tenn.; his grandparents, Joe and Mary Cadriel, both of Texas; and five grandchildren.

Isaac W. Yohannan

A funeral was held Monday at the Assyrian Church of the East, St. Zaia Parish, for Isaac William Yohannan, 70, of Modesto. He died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 at Doctors Medical Center.

Allen Mortuary was in charge of burial at Turlock Memorial Park.

Born May 16, 1934, Mr. Yohannan was a native of San Francisco and was raised in Turlock. He lived in Modesto since 1964. Mr. Yohannan was a deputy sheriff with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department from 1976-91. He also owned Michael's Liquor Store and Ike's Auto Sales. He was a founding member of the Throttlers Car Club. Mr. Yohannan was a member of the Assyrian Church of the East, St. Zaia Parish; the Assyrian-American Civic Club; and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed antique cars. He was a lieutenant in the Air Force, serving from 1955-61 in the Korean War and in Japan.

Mr. Yohannan leaves behind his wife, Diane Yohannan of Modesto; two children, Leah Yohannan-Burke and Lori Verissimo, both of Modesto; her father, Jesse Yohannan of Turlock; three brothers, David Yohannan of Ceres, and Jesse Yohannan Jr. and Donald Yohannan, both of Turlock; his sister, Delores Yohannan of San Francisco; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother.

Remembrances may be sent to the National Kidney Foundation of Northern California, 611 Mission St., Third Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105; or to the Church of the East, St. Zaia Parish, 1457 Mable Ave., Modesto, CA 95355.

Zetty Yrigoyen

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Ceres Memorial Park for Zetty Vermillion "Ruth" Yrigoyen, 79, of Modesto. She died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at her home.

Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Born June 30, 1925, Mrs. Yrigoyen was a native of Laramie, Wyo., and had lived in Modesto for 64 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing.

Mrts. Yrigoyen leaves behind seven children, Terry Cross of Tutman, Ray Hon and James Hon, both of Reno, Frank J. Yrigoyen Jr. and Linda Lavern Yrigoyen, both of Modesto, Norma Ruth Rogers of Ceres and Alice Blackwell of Bakersfield; her sister, Feebie Nickols of Ada, Okla.; and 20 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Hon.

Celeste Mason

A memorial service was held Monday at Hickman Community Church for Celeste Sougey Mason, 47, of Waterford. She died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 at Memorial Hospital, Modesto.

Evins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born July 28, 1957, Mrs. Mason was a native of San Jose and lived in Waterford for 22 years. She was a social worker for Stanislaus County for nine years. Mrs. Mason was a member of Hickman Community Church, and enjoyed scrapbooking, riding Harleys, camping and skiing.

She leaves behind her husband, Chance A. Mason; three children, Tondi Mason of Ceres, and Cherelle Mason and Larissa Mason, both of Waterford; her mother, Nancy J. Boling of Modesto; stepfather, James L. Boling; two brothers, Gary Sougey of Ceres and Ross Sougey of Overland Park, Kan.; and one grandchild.

Remembrances may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave., Suite 8, Modesto, CA 95350.

Ruby A. Carillo

A memorial service was held Friday morning at Victory Life Center in Modesto for Ruby Ann Madrid Carillo, 43, of Ceres. She died on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center's Community Campus in Merced.

Allen Mortuary in Turlock, was in charge of arrangements.

Born April 6, 1961, Mrs. Carillo was a native of San Jose and lived in Ceres since 2000. She previously lived in Turlock since 1990. Mrs. Carillo was employed as a clerk and attended Victory Life Center. She enjoyed shopping, arts and crafts, poetry, dancing and music.

She leaves behind three children, David Rodrigez of Ceres, and Dominique Carrillo and Elijah Carrillo, both of Sunnyvale; two brothers, Lupe Avila of Merced and Vincent Madrid of Lemoore; five sisters, Karen Valderoma of San Jose, Elven Tixon of San Francisco, Susan Nelson and Virginia Salazar, both of Fresno, and Valiere Madrid of Livingston; and two grandchildren.
