Terri Strange
Terri Elizabeth Strange, 57, of Napa died Saturday, Jan. 24 at her residence.
A native of Oakdale, she was raised in Riverbank. She was a 1964 graduate of Oakdale High School, as well as received her Bachelors degree from Chico State University, Chico. She was also a Past Honored Queen of Bethel 156, Riverbank, International Order of Job's Daughters. She worked as an insurance office manager for Scott Tandy Insurance and later Avery and Seminara Insurance in Napa. She also worked in the educational field for many years. She was an inspirational speaker as a cancer survivor for the "I Can Cope" program and a "Reach to Recovery" volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She was also an avid scuba diver, diving all over the world with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Keith R. Strange of Napa; sister, Cheryl A. Madrid of Browns Valley; three nieces, three nephews and a grand niece and two grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Luzelle Terrel Blake, father, Kenneth Warren Blake and brother, James Henry Blake.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 15 in Napa.

Iona Himes
Iona Mae Rosalie Dilley Himes, 88, of Oakdale died Friday, Jan. 30 at her home.
A native of Kansas, she lived in Oakdale for 67 years. She was a psychiatric technician for the State of California for 20 years. She belonged to the Community United Methodist Church, Escalon Historical Society, Knights Ferry History and Museum Associates and Order of Eastern Star Summit Chapter.
She is survived by her children, Janice Himes of San Francisco and Karen Harter of La Paz, Mexico; sister, Leona Turner of Hayward; brother, Norval Dilley of Cloverdale; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Himes.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. at Community United Methodist Church, Oakdale. Private burial at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon.

Gladys Sansing
Gladys E. Sansing, 92, of Oakdale died Monday, Jan. 26 at Doctors Medical Center.
A native of Armpost, Oklahoma, she resided in Oakdale for 62 years. She was a cook for 30 years at Oakdale Municipal Hospital, Busy Bee and Oakdale High School. She belonged to the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children, Jon Sansing of Scotts Valley, Ali James of Modesto, Donna Shuper of Visalia and G.W. Sansing of Oakdale; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband John W. Sansing.
Services were held on Friday, Jan. 30 at Church of Christ. Burial at Oaklawn Memorial Park. Visitation was held.

Raymond Carpenter
Raymond D. Carpenter, 82, of Oakdale died Thursday, Jan. 29 at his home.
A native of Ozark, Ark., he lived in Oakdale for 23 years. He was a merchant seaman for 48 years. He served in the Marine Corp during WWII.
He is survived by his children, Douglas Carpenter of Los Gatos and Janice Brooks of Oroville; sister, Juanita Plumlee of Oakdale; brothers, Jack Carpenter of Oakdale and Robert Carpenter of Arkansas; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Oakdale.

Marjorie Willms
Marjorie A. Willms, 83, of Oakdale died Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Riverbank Nursing Center.
A native of Canada, she lived in Oakdale for 69 years. As a youngster she attended Knights Ferry Grammar School and was a 1939 graduate of Oakdale High School. While attending OHS, she discovered a passion for writing as a member of the Oracle staff. Mrs. Willms met her husband Raymond just prior to graduating from OHS.
The couple had five children, which they raised on the Willms Ranch. The ranch was a family property, established in 1852 before Stanislaus County was formed out of Tuolumne County. The ranch brand, KW was the first brand issued in Tuolumne County.
As a mother of five, the homemaker was kept quite busy as a member of the Knights Ferry Mother's Club, den mother for the Boy Scouts, as well as serving on the Parent Teachers Association for Oakdale Grammar School and Oakdale High School. She also worked on the Oakdale Youth Commission and was a member of St. Mary's Seniors and Friends.
The avid writer returned to her passion in 1948 beginning with the Knights Ferry Centennial Celebration. She also did some writing for the Stockton Record, the Modesto Bee and The Oakdale Leader. At the passing of her husband Raymond in 1994, Willms took over the responsibility of reporting the weather to The Leader from the Willms Ranch. She also wrote a book entitled "Touring Knights Ferry with Tom," about local Tom Prowse.
She belonged to the Stanislaus County Historical Society, representing Knights Ferry for 16 years on the Board of Directors; was a member of the Patterson Historical Society and Oakdale Historical Society; as well as co-founder of Knights Ferry Museum and the Oakdale Cowboy Museum.
She is survived by her children, Shirley McPhee of Oakdale, Barbara Barbagelata of Linden, Gary Willms, John Willms and Carolyn Lopez, all of Oakdale; sister, Betty Knibbs of Lincoln; brother, John Desmond of Orangevale; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Ray" Willms.
A rosary was said Friday, Jan. 30 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Memorial mass was said Saturday, Jan. 31 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Private burial at Knights Ferry Cemetery. Visitation was held.

Leonard Boyer
Leonard L. Boyer, 63, of Modesto died Sunday, Jan. 25 at Memorial Medical Center.
A native of California, he lived in Modesto for 50 years. He was a purchasing agent for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Boyer of Modesto; daughter, Diana Fairbanks of Oakdale; sister, Esther Mae Wendland of Escalon; brother, Lloyd Billings of Oregon; and two grandchildren.
Memorial service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.

Enrrique Perez
A funeral service was held Friday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Enrrique Perez, 26, of Modesto. He died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004 in Modesto.
Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park under the direction of Evins Funeral Home.
Born April 21, 1977, Mr. Perez was a native of Michoac‡n, Mexico, and lived in south Modesto for six years. He worked as a cement finisher in Ripon for two years.
He leaves behind two children, Jessica Perez and Enrique Perez, both of San Jose; his father, Santiago Perez Velasquez of Tennessee; his brother, Santiago Perez of Modesto; three sisters, Esperanza Perez of Michoac‡n, Mexico, and Maria Perez and Placida Perez, both of Modesto; and grandmother, Placida Velasquez. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Ambriz; one brother; and grandfather.
David K. House
A funeral was held Tuesday morning at Church of Christ in Hughson for David Keith House, 58, of Joplin, Mo. He died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004.
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Eaton Family Funeral Home.
Born April 29, 1945, Mr. House was a native of McCallister, Okla., and lived in Joplin for five years. He previously in the Modesto and Hughson area for 52 years. He was a musician, playing guitar and singing country music. Mr. House previously was employed by the California Highway Patrol for three years. He attended the Church of Christ in Hughson. Mr. House was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed training horses.
He leaves behind two children, David Keith House Jr. of Splendora, Texas, and Cordelia Garyn House of Ceres; six brothers, George House Jr., Orville D. House and Jerry House, all of Hughson, Don House of Denair, Joe House of Manteca and Herman C. House of Carmichael; six sisters, H. Kathleen House-Sharp and Patricia Jones, both of Modesto, Norma Duval of Denair, Irma Rapier of Carmichael, Doris Allsup of Riverbank and Mary Miller of Fresno; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by one sister.

Zadie O. Holder
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Allen Mortuary in Turlock for Zadie Ora Hibdon Holder, 95, of Ceres. She died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 at Brandel Manor Convalescent Hospital in Turlock.
Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Allen Mortuary.
Born Jan. 5, 1909, Mrs. Holder was a native of Voca, Texas, and moved to Delhi in 1942 and lived there until she moved to Ceres in 1989. During World War II, Mrs. Holder worked in the shipyards in Richmond. She and her late husband were owners of H&H; Combination Shop in Turlock and Holder Gas Station in Delhi. Mrs. Holder was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Denair, and of the Delhi Friendship Club. She was also involved in ladies aid at her church.
She leaves behind three children, Richard Holder, Dorothy Carroll of Delhi and Ella Pace of Ceres; three brothers, Dee Hibdon, Delbert Hibdon and William Hibdon Jr., all of Delhi; and six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Parker Holder, and by one grandson.
Ora M. Harris
A funeral was held Tuesday at Allen Mortuary for Ora Mae McDaniels Harris, 95, of Turlock. She died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004 at Elness Convalescent Hospital.
Burial was at Turlock Memorial Park.
Born Jan. 2, 1909, Mrs. Harris was a native of Finley, Okla., and had lived in Turlock since 2000. She previously had lived in Ceres from 1979-2000, Turlock from 1946-79 and San Pedro from 1943-46. Mrs. Harris was a teacher and a member of Harvest Presbyterian Church in Ceres, where she helped with the youth group. She also belonged to the Ceres chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She leaves behind her son, Clifford Harris of Ceres; her sister, Cleo Tietgren of Lake Isabella; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
