Edward R. Ford

Evins Funeral Home is in charge of private services for Edward Ray Ford, 50, of Modesto. He died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center from injuries suffered in a Modesto auto accident.

Born July 4, 1952, Mr. Ford was native of Lebanon, Mo., and lived in Modesto for 28 years. He was a tow truck driver for Patterson Ford for 12 years.

He leaves behind his wife, Vickie D. Ford of Modesto; three children, Jeffrey Ford, Kevin Ford and Timothy Ford, all of Modesto; his brother, Gary Ford of Keyes; three sisters, Linda Franko of Modesto, Sharon Croy of Yakima, Wash., and Joyce Kessler of Keyes; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bonnie Ford.

Remembrances may be sent to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Ave., Modesto, CA 95350.

Lloyd L. Doshier

A graveside service was held Tuesday at San Joaquin Valley National cemetery in Santa Nella for Lloyd Lee Doshier, 63, of Modesto. He died of natural causes, Oct. 31, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center.

The McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born Feb. 20, 1939, Mr. Doshier was a native of Ceres and lived in for Modesto 20 years. He was a mechanic for Tri Valley Growers for five years. Mr. Doshier previously worked as a mechanic and in maintenance in Oregon and Washington in the 1980s, in construction and for the Painters union in the 1970s, and for Weyerhaeuser and E.&.J Gallo Winery in the 1960s. He had been a representative for the Painters union. Mr. Doshier was a member of Smyrna Masonic Lodge 532 in Ceres; and Oxnard Elks Lodge 1443. He belonged to E Clampus Vitus, Tuleburgh Chapter 69, Stockton. He served in the Air Force from 1957 to 1962.

He leaves behind his daughter, Elaine Marie Doshier of Modesto; his mother, Vivian Doshier of Modesto; five brothers, Vernon Doshier, Buddie Doshier, Darrell Doshier and Danny Doshier, all of Modesto, and James Doshier of Delhi; and three sisters, Alberta Doshier, Wanda Doshier and LaDonna Doshier, all of Modesto. He was preceded in death by his father, Bud Doshier; and one brother.

Mary D. Castro

A Mass was held yesterday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Mary Dolores Osuna Castro, 71, of Hughson. She died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park under the direction of Eaton Family Funeral & Cremation Service.

Born Feb. 21, 1932, Mrs. Castro was a native of Douglas, Ariz., and lived in the Ceres and Hughson areas for 34 years. She was a homemaker and previously had worked in production at Tri Valley Growers Plant 7 for 22 years; she was a member of Teamsters union Local 748. Mrs. Castro belonged to St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She had a passion for cooking and sewing.

She leaves behind her husband, Paul T. Castro of Hughson; five children, Joe Rosales of Hughson, George D. Castro and Mona Silvias, both of Modesto, Cristina Kendrick of Fair Oaks and Mary Ellen Castro of Ceres; six brothers, Antonio Osuna and Steven Rios, both of Modesto, Richard Osuna and Rudy Suarez, both of Ceres, Henry Rios of Turlock and Albert Rios of Ione; four sisters, Olga Lopez of Sacramento, Cristina Lozano of Mendota, Rosie Wylie of San Jose and Delia Viegas of Fort Worth, Texas; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Muriel J. Cash

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Ceres Memorial Park for Muriel Jean Winters Cash, 73, of Ceres. She died Friday, June 20, 2003 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs.

Born Nov. 18, 1929 as Muriel Winter, Mrs. Cash was a native of Lake Village, Ark., and lived in Ceres for 46 years. She worked in food processing for Tri Valley Growers for nine years. Mrs. Cash belonged to the Teamsters union.

She leaves behind her husband, Lilbert Edward Cash of Ceres; three children, Susan G. Shoemate of Silver Springs, Nev., Linda J. Lines of Keyes and Edward E. Cash of Salt Lake City; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Nicholas Cordero

Foothill Cremation was in charge of arrangements for Nicholas Cordero, 53, of Placerville. He died of cancer July 15, 2003 at his home.

Born Feb. 22,1950, Mr. Cordero was a native of San Francisco and lived in Placerville for three years. He previously lived in Ceres six months. Mr. Cordero had worked as cultured marble foreman and previously worked as a merchant seaman on cruise liners. He enjoyed the outdoors, fast cars, playing poker and pool.

He leaves behind his wife, Shirley Cordero of Ceres; three children, Sophia Ramos of Ceres, Rico Cordero of Modesto and Nicholas Cordero of South San Francisco; his mother, Virginia Cordero of Mountain View; five brothers, Robert Cordero of Reno, Ben Cordero and Dave Cordero, both of San Jose, Ron Larot of Placerville and Joe Cordero of San Francisco; three sisters, Virginia Gabac of Placerville, Shirley Bustos of Hayward and Carol Callison of San Bruno; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benny Cordero.

Mary J. Phillips

A graveside service was held Wednesday at Ceres Memorial Park for Mary J. Palumbo Phillips, 84, of Ceres. She died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 at her son's home in Ceres.

The Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born March 12, 1919, Mrs. Phillips was a native of Johnston, R.I., and lived in Ceres for 53 years. She was a production worker for Louis Rich Co. of California 25 years. Mrs. Phillips was a member of United Food Commercial Workers union. She was active in the seniors group at Modesto Bowl.

Mrs. Phillips leaves behind two sons, Henry A. Phillips of Manteca and Gaylord J. Phillips of Ceres; her brother, Vincent Palumbo of Rhode Island; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Remembrances may be made to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Ave., Suite C, Modesto, CA 95350.

Joseph C. Ellis

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eaton Family Funeral Home for Joseph C. Ellis, 71, of Fellows. He died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at his home.

Burial will be at Farmington Memorial cemetery in Farmington.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm. today at the funeral home.

Born May 28, 1932, Mr. Ellis was a native of Texas and lived in Fellows for four years. He previously lived in Modesto for four years. Mr. Ellis was a heavy equipment operator, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and water skiing.

He leaves behind his daughter, Laura Honeycutt of Ceres; his sister, Martha Wright of Ceres; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson.

Remembrances may be sent to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.

Leland Sandlin

Leland Tom Sandlin, 78, of Escalon died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002 at Memorial Hospital in Modesto.

Mr. Sandlin was a native of Oklahoma and had worked as a machinist in Oakland for Simplex Corp. for 21 years. Mr. Sandlin was a member of River Oak Grace Church and the American Legion. He was an Army veteran of W.W.II.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Sandlin of Escalon; children, Danny Joe Sandlin of Hayward, Linda Hale or Welches, Oregon; step children, Lana Trantham of Riverbank, Laura Peterson of Oakdale and Louis La Porte of Stockton; sisters, Neoma O'Daniels, Aline Williamson and Sue Fry, all of Oklahoma; brother Cecil Sandlin of Yuba City; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 9:30 a.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Oakdale with a memorial service Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at River Oak Grace Community Church.

Jimmie Clouse

Jimmie Clouse, 85, died Oct. 11, 2002 at Garden City Healthcare Center in Modesto.

Born in Marshall, Mo. on May 15, 1917, he had lived in the Stockton and Farmington area for 60 years. He was a self-employed farmer.

Survivors include his children, Diana Slawson of Clements and Lana Kale of Escalon; a sister, Edith Coleman of Grandview, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thursday, Oct. 17 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial was at Parkview cemetery in Manteca. Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon, in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Einfeldt

Barbara "Nana" Einfeldt, 60, of Waterford died earlier this month.

She was a native of Shafter, Ca. She was employed by Holiday Inn as a waitress. She enjoyed horseback riding, crafts and music. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Escalon.

She is survived by her husband, Karel S. Einfeldt of Waterford; sons, Mark Van Wye of Riverbank and Steven Sanderson of Modesto; daughter, Trina Sharp of Waterford; stepchildren, Sheri Einfeldt of Kingman, Arizona and Dave Einfeldt of North Dakota; brothers, Jim Reeves of Modesto and Bobby Reeves of Oregon; sisters, Sharon Davis of Modesto and Terry Tackett of Riverbank; 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Bryan Van Wye, two brothers and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Harriet Davis

Harriet Virginia Johnson Davis, 79, of Oakdale died Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at English Oaks Convalescent Hospital.

She was a native of Madera and had lived in Oakdale for 32 years. She served in the US Navy during WWII. She was also a homemaker.

She belonged to the American Association of University Women, Living Hope Christian Fellowship, Oakdale Ladies Golf Association and volunteered at Gladys Lemmons Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Johns of Escalon, Trent Davis, Derek Davis and Gary Davis, all of Oakdale; sister, Cecilia Fitzgerald of Nipomo; brother, Harold Johnson of Vermont; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.L. Davis.

Services were held on Monday, April 7 at Living Hope Christian Fellowship, Oakdale. Burial was on Tuesday, April 8 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella.

Remembrances may be sent to T.L. Davis Sports Complex, c/o Oakdale Youth Sports Association, P.O. Box 2440, Oakdale, CA 95361.
