Mrs. Imogene (Townsley) Rood passed on to a better life this Tuesday, October 18, 2005.
Who was this woman? A writer, a singer, a joy maker, an adventurer, a Sunday School teacher, a best friend to many, an artful piano player, fiddled with the banjo, a leader in Women’s Fellowship at church, a Brownie leader, an encourager, an excellent cook, a party-throwing master, Oral Book Reviewer, Convalescent Hospital volunteer. She had a full life: a good life.
Imogene, Imy, Mom, Nana: These names meant much to her.
She was a woman who loved to laugh and take joy in each moment. “This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it”… her favorite verse. When she was in pain, she learned to look ahead; when in fear, she sang joyful tunes; when at peace, she relished the moment. Her God was always near.
Her children, Robert Charles Rood and Sharon Rahe, will miss their mom greatly. Robert and his wife, Sherri, live in Nebraska. Sharon and her husband, Mike Rahe, live in Madera, California. Imogene has two grandchildren, as well: Rebecca Wong and Amy Rahe.
She will be sorely missed. We love you, Mom.
