Denise R. Prefach

Private services will be held for Denise R. Prefach, 69, of Fairfield. The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Interment will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Prefach died on June 1, 2000, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born on Jan. 9, 1931, in Carmel, Maine, she lived in Fairfield for the past 30 years. She was a homemaker for 30 years. She was a collector of fine art, antiques and plate ware. She was also a longtime member of AARP and a supporter of animal foundations.

Mrs. Prefach is survived by her husband of 46 years, William of Fairfield; daughters, Denise M. Townsley of Sacramento and Mitch Alaire of Clay Station; sons and daughters-in-law, William Jr. and Catherine of Suisun and Michael D. and Maria Fe of American Canyon; and sister, June Fernandes of Treetown, Mass. She also has four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Diabetes Society of Solano County, 817 Missouri St. #4, Fairfield, 94533.

Robert Claude Russell

A memorial service for Robert Claude Russell, 30, of Dixon will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dixon Community Church, 955 East A St.

Pastor Wes Nordman will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Russell died June 1, 2000, in Dixon.

Born July 12, 1969, in Berkeley, he was raised in Dixon and attended local schools.

He graduated from Dixon High School in 1987 and had served as a volunteer firefighter in the city during high school and soon after his graduation. During the fire seasons of 1988-89, he worked on a National Forest Service fire crew, fighting fires across the Western United States.

Mr. Russell later attended Sacramento City College, graduating in 1998 along with his sister. He earned his associate's degree in automated systems, achieving honors with great distinction. He also earned a number of certificates in the field of electronics technology.

While in college, he competed in a number of team sports including swimming and cross-country running and was also active in mountain biking.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth "Buffy" of Dixon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eric and Dedra of Dixon and Owen and Deborah of Alabama; sister and brother-in-law, Alison and David Bablo of Long Beach; and nephews and nieces, Jeremy DeGarmo, Sadie and Jennifer, all of Dixon, and Lauren Hill and Ridge, both of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene.

His family noted that he was a cherished member of the family and "will be deeply missed." In lieu of flowers, they ask that donations be made to Dixon Family Services.

George Jerald Benedict

A memorial service for George Jerald Benedict, 71, of Green Valley will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private at Rockville Cemetery.

Born Oct. 16, 1928, in Storm Lake, Iowa, Mr. Benedict died June 3, 2000, at home after a long illness.

He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in geophysics. He was in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and served in Korea as a jet fighter. He left the Air Force as a first lieutenant and worked for Pan American Airlines from 1955 to 1989 as a commercial airline pilot. He then worked for United Airlines until retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Green Valley Country Club, Airline Pilots Association and Clipper Pioneer. He was an avid golfer and gardener.

Mr. Benedict is survived by his wife, Zee of Green Valley; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Bill Hogan of Atlanta, Ga., and Michele and Dennis Hayden of Reno; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Eileen of Santa Paula; and grandson, Hunter Hayden of Reno.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the NorthBay Hospice Program, 1300 Oliver Road, Suite 210, Fairfield, 94533 or the Leukemia Society of America, 555 Hawthorn, Suite 510, San Francisco, 94105-3912.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

John Charles Castro

No services will be held for John Charles Castro, 32, of Suisun. Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fairfield Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Born Nov. 18, 1967, in Fairfield, Mr. Castro died May 30, 2000. at NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

He was a maintenance worker at Sybase and also did contracting work.

Mr. Castro is survived by his wife, Jessica of Suisun; stepdaughters, Rebecca Bagwell and Alecsandrea, both of Fairfield; stepson, Philip Crabtree of Fairfield; and mother, Patricia Guinn of Allendale.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fairfield Funeral Home.

Tiffany Ann Decker

A funeral service for Tiffany Ann Decker, 26, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Father William Feeser will preside. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today with a rosary tonight at 7:30 in McCune Garden Chapel.

Born March 20, 1974, in Oakland, Ms. Decker died June 3, 2000, at the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento after a long battle with diabetes.

She was a loving mother and daughter and attended Solano Community College. She loved angels and now lives with them in death.

Ms. Decker is survived by her 3-year-old daughter, Elaine; mother and step-father, Pam and Don Wilcoxson of Vacaville; father, Gregory Gomes of Reno; brother, Raymond Gomes of Arcata; grandparents, Don and Justine Pritchard of Weed; grandmother, Elaine Gomes of Reno; grandmother, Mary Wilcoxson of Vacaville and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Raymond Gomes.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Eleonora Luther

A funeral for Eleonora Luther, 77, of Vacaville, will be 2 p.m. today at the Christian Body Life Fellowship. Pastor Willie Graham will preside.

Born May 6, 1923, in Germany, Mrs. Luther died June 1, 2000, in Vacaville.

She worked for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District and later for Sam's Club. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and someone who always placed other's needs before her own. She loved life for the simple pleasures and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Luther is survived by her husband, Myron of Vacaville; son, Kurt of San Diego; daughter, Barbara Lima of Vacaville; grandchildren, Victoria, Haydee, Laura and Jamie of San Diego, and Jenna Thomas and Andrew Lima of Vacaville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Road, Vacaville, 95688.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Dewey Wayne Mayberry

A funeral for Dewey Wayne Mayberry, 64, of Vacaville, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Vaca Hills Chapel. Father Constantine Pappademos will preside. Interment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Born Sept. 10, 1935, in St. Louis, Mo., Mr. Mayberry died June 2, 2000, in Davis after a sudden illness.

He was a brewer with Anheuser Busch for 22 years. He enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Mr. Mayberry is survived by his wife, Helen of Vacaville; son, Matthew Thomas of Vacaville; daughter, Elaine Stralen of Sacramento; sister, Sue Dobbs of St. Louis; grandchildren, Ryan Michael Stralen, Jack Thomas Stralen and Sarah Anne Stralen, all of Sacramento. He was preceded in death by son, Michael James in 1993.

Arrangements are under the direction of Vaca Hills Chapel.

Robert J. Nunes

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert J. Nunes, 70, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Mr. Nunes died on June 1, 2000, in South Lake Tahoe.

Born on Oct. 11, 1929, in Alameda, he lived in Vacaville for the past 20 years. He worked for California Medical Facility in maintenance. He was a resident of Alameda until moving to Vacaville. He was a member of the AEOLAIN Yacht Club and the Local Teamsters Union, No. 70.

Mr. Nunes is survived by his wife, Waunelle of Vacaville; daughter, JoAnne of Oakland; stepdaughters, Catherine Lipkin of Arkansas and Kelley Colleen Handy of Vacaville; sons, Robert Daniel of Alameda and Richard David of Springfield, Utah; stepsons, Michael A. Hardy of Vacaville and Dallas T. Hardy of Fairfield; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Stella of Vacaville; and brother, Arthur of Menlo Park. He also had 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida in 1993, and Manuel in 1979.

George W. Weisker

At his request there will be no services for George W. Weisker, 87, of Vacaville. Interment will be at the East Lawn Cemetery.

Born Sept. 6, 1912, in Sacramento, Mr. Weisker died June 4, 2000, in Vacaville.

He worked at Bank of America as vice president and manager for 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. He was an active member of the Christian Church of Vacaville, past Grand Industrial Lodge 100F, past president of the Lions Club, past charter Governor Moose of Vacaville; little league officer and coach and an officer for 18 years in the Solano Cancer Society. He was also active in the 20-30 Club and various Vacaville commissions and committees. He served one term on the Solano County Grand Jury and five years on the Vacaville Fiesta Days Committee where he served as events chairman for one year. He was an avid sports fan and loved to garden and travel.

Mr. Weisker is survived by his wife, May Louise of Vacaville; daughters Kathleen R. Noonan of San Carlos and Suzanne of Vacaville; son, Arthur of Davis; grandchildren, Patrick and Caitlin Noonan of San Carlos and Christopher and Matthew of Davis.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844 Santa Rosa, to the American Diabetes Association of Sacramento Sierra Chapter, 10455 Old Placerville Road, Sacramento, 95827 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Joseph 'Bo' Charles Boivin

A Mass of the Resurrection for Joseph 'Bo' Charles Boivin, 80, of Vacaville will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. William Feeser will officiate. Interment will be private.

Born Aug. 24, 1919, in Woonsocket, R.I., Mr. Boivin died June 6, 2000, at his home in Vacaville after a long illness.

He served in the United States Air Force as a flight engineer for 32 years before retiring in 1972. He served during World War II, the Berlin Airlift, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was an usher at St. Mary's Catholic Church and a volunteer with St. Mary's Food Locker and the Solano County Food Bank. He was an avid fisherman and loved to work on crossword puzzles.

Mr. Boivin is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary of Vacaville; daughters, Debra Boivin-Wilkinson of Santa Cruz and Mary of Vacaville; stepdaughter, Chelo Borges of Mexico City, Mexico; sister, Claire Cannon of Florida; and three nieces.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa or the Diabetes Society of Solano County, 817 Missouri St., No. 4, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Gary Farney

A celebration of life memorial for Gary Farney, 60, of Green Valley will be 5 p.m. today at the Rockville Inn. Mr. Farney's family will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Farney died on June 3, 2000, at Grizzly Fairview Farms.

Born on April 6, 1940, in Grand Junction, Colo., he lived in Green Valley for the past 36 years. He attended El Camino High School in Sacramento, where he was a star athlete. He continued his education at the University of Oregon on a football scholarship and moved to Fairfield in 1964 as a manager of Household Finance for 20 years. He then worked as a salesman in the floorcovering industry for several companies before going into business for himself and eventually retiring. He coached Little League, Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio baseball teams and loved the outdoors, particularly fishing, hunting and camping. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Farney is survived by his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth of Green Valley; son, Kelly and his companion, JoAnne Pau; sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Jared Carter of Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Paula of Arizona; and grandchildren, Brenden, Shannon and Aaron, all of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ina Leigh.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa, 95402-0844.

Arrangements are being handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Willis J. Kitner

A graveside service for Willis J. Kitner, 98, of Roseburg, Ore., will be 10 a.m. today at Fair Oaks Cemetery in Sutherlin, Ore. Deacon John Stenbeck will officiate.

Mr. Kitner died on June 2, 2000, in a Roseburg, Ore., hospital after complications from hip surgery.

Born on Oct. 26, 1901, in Genoa, Neb., he lived in Vacaville from 1972 to 1997 before moving to Oregon. He was an avid reader.

Mr. Kitner is survived by his wife, Hilda of Roseburg, Ore.; daughters and sons-in-law, June and LeRoy Merten of Denver and Cary and Glen Gohl of Brush, Colo.; and son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Mary of Roseburg. He also had 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter, in 1947, and mother, Ruth, in 1955. He was also preceded by his sister, Myrtle Smith, in 1976 and great-grandson, Scott Merten, in 1997.

Arrangements are being handled by Roseburg Funeral Alternatives.
