Anne J. Hamm
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 26, at Deer Park-Elmshaven Seventh-day Adventist Church at 2 p.m., for Anne J. Hamm of St. Helena, who died on April 17. She was 87.
Born in Mesa, Colo., in 1915, Mrs. Hamm was an active member of the St. Helena Seventh-day Adventist Church and volunteered at St. Helena Hospital.
Mrs. Hamm is survived by her three children; Judy Crabb of St. Helena, Carol Ross of Memphis, Tenn. and Paul R. Hamm of Angwin, six grandchildren; E. Tom IV and Peter Stetson, Michael Ross, Marianne Morgan, Lisa and Jennifer Hamm, and four great-grandchildren; Zachary, Chase, Connor and Christina. Mrs. Hamm was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hamm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anne Hamm’s memory to the St. Helena Hospital Foundation, c/o Spiritual Services Endowment, 650 Sanitarium Road, Deer Park, Calif. 94576.

Carolyn McDonald
A celebration of life was held on March 23 for Carolyn McDonald, former resident of Calistoga, who died on March 16. She was 85.
Born in Butte, Mont., in 1918, Mrs. McDonald moved to San Francisco where she worked as a photographer. In 1940, she married her husband, Edger McDonald, and after raising two children, the couple retired to Calistoga where they lived for many years. Mrs. McDonald explored art while in Calistoga, painting many vineyard scenes and local landscapes and became a member of the Calistoga Art League.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by her husband, of Minden, Nev.; a daughter, Karen Chalhoub of Minden; a son, Russell Lee of Eureka, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Letha Adams Samuels Rutherford
Letha Evadna (Adams) Samuels “Gram,” 100, passed away Friday, March 14, 2003 with some of her family by her side. The oldest of five children, Letha was born Aug. 28, 1902, in Monticello, Ca. to Wilson Hampton Adams and Mary Elizabeth “Minnie” McGinnis.
Letha married her husband Henry Edwards Samuels on July 20, 1920 in Napa and honeymooned in San Francisco by way of ferry. They had two daughters, Florence Lucille (Samuels) Mathison and Barbara Evadna (Samuels) White.
Letha’s family, of Scottish descent, settled in the Napa Valley in the 1850s. The family, she recalled, were considered “blue bloods” with several United States Presidents in the line. Her great grandfather, the Rev. Thomas McConnell Johnston preached in the St. Helena Presbyterian Church in the 1850s. Family members had large holdings in the County and devoted their efforts to farming and raising livestock and planting vineyards. Letha and Henry raised their family in Monticello, Ca. until Lake Berryessa was formed in 1955. They then settled in Rutherford, Ca. where Letha lived until her death.
Letha was predeceased by her husband, Henry Samuels, in 1983 as well as her sister, Velma Adams Taylor, and brother, Floyd Adams.
She is survived by two daughters, Florence Lucille (Samuels) Mathison and Barbara Evadna (Samuels) White; two sisters, Edna Valentine of Lake County and Lucille Gallagher of Austin, Nevada. Letha had 8 grandchildren, Billy White, John White, Larry Gardner, Buddy Gardner, Debbie (Gardner) McIntosh, Gary Mathison, Tim Mathison, Terry Mathison. 25 great grandchildren and 13great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Letha was laid to rest on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 in the Historical Monticello Cemetery
at Spanish Flat Berryessa, surrounded by family and friends who celebrated her life, with the Rev. Jack Isbell officiating, her great grandson, Zane McIntosh reading her favorite poems and bagpipes echoing through the hills of Monticello Cemetery.
“Gram” will be missed by all.

Chula Jill Mori
Family and friends of Chula Jill Mori would like to let you know that on March 28th she passed away to a better place after a long battle with cancer. She passed quietly and comfortably in the presence of friends and family on a beautiful day in Angwin, CA at St. Helena Adventist Hospital.
She is survived by her two sons, Jason and Benjamin Mori, her sisters Holly Hurt and Terri Harper, brothers Albert Jr. and Charles McDowell, father Albert Jessee McDowell and wife, Olive, the love of her life Michael Kazar, friend and partner in crime Kathy Merritt, and grandchildren Haylie Mori, Jenica Mori and Justin Stanley. She is also survived by her stepbrothers Wallace Clenending of Napa, and Peter Hudler of Clovis, New Mexico, and step sisters Sonia Leland of Napa, and Carol Wilkins of Oakland, Oregon.
Chula was born in El Paso, Texas to Albert Jessee McDowell and Dorthy Nichols McDowell on September 20th, 1947. Moving with her family to Napa County in 1949, Chula attended elementary school in Calistoga, two years at RLS in St. Helena, and graduated from St. Helena High in 1965. Chula attended Napa Valley College, San Jose State, and Sonoma State.
As a child she was active in the Rutherford 4H club, and worked at Queen of the Valley Hospital, and Mervyns before becoming a teacher for the Napa County office of Education where she taught for 26 years.
Chula dedicated her life to her children. Not just her two sons, but every child she touched while working in the Napa County Child Development Program. A dedicated mother and teacher, Chula was remembered by her family, friends, and coworkers at Morrison Funeral Chapel on Tueday, April 1st at 11am.
Anyone wishing to send condolences to the family may do so by supporting the children that Chula loved so much. Donations, instead of flowers, can be sent to the Napa Child Development Center, NCOE, 2121 Imola Avenue Napa, CA 94559. Its these children that will miss Chula the most, and her family knows that without her its important to not let them be forgotten.

Anna Mary Tedeschi
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 901 Washington St. for Anna Mary Tedeschi, who died at her Calistoga home May 20 with her family by her side. She was 89.
Mrs. Tedeschi was born in 1913 to Emilio and Settima (Carrara) Lencioni in Ghivizzano, Italy. Her father, Emilio, came to the U.S. in 1914 and sent for his family in 1921 when Anna was 8 years old. After arriving in Boston from Italy, the family settled in San Francisco.
Mrs. Tedeschi was the widow of the late Eugene Daffy Tedeschi, whom she met on a family vacation in Calistoga at the Pisa Farm. They were married October 2, 1935, in San Francisco. Following the birth of their daughter Frances, the family moved to Calistoga, where their son, Emil, was born.
Mrs. Tedeschi was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Calistoga, the Catholic Womens Club, the Calistoga Garden Club, the Sharpsteen Museum, Creative Living of Calistoga and the Calistoga Library.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances Tedeschi Marchner, of Calistoga and a son, Emil Tedeschi, of St. Helena; and grandchildren, Emilio, Mario and Elaine Tedeschi.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gino Lencioni, and by her husband. At the time of Mr. Tedeschi’s death in 1980, they had been married 45 years.

Ronald Glen Prophet
Memorial services were held May 24 for Ronald Glen Prophet of Calistoga, who died on May 20. He was 63.
Born in Buffalo, Okla., Mr. Prophet served in the Army from 1957 to 1960. In 1963, Mr. Prophet began work as an apprentice machinist at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and retired from Mare Island in 1993 as a scheduler. After retirement, Mr. Prophet worked in the pro shop at the Mount St. Helena Golf Course, where he also organized various golf tournaments. Mr. Prophet was a 22-year resident of Napa County and a member of the Mount St. Helena Men’s Golf Club and the Chateau Card Players.
Mr. Prophet is survived by his wife of 41 years, Tamila; son, Anthony of Pinole; granddaughters, Renee and Jaclyn; brother, Larry of Benicia; and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Prophet was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Prophet, and mother, Vivian Prophet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
