Oran Louis Spell

Graveside services for Oran Louis Spell, 68, of Yountville will be 11 a.m. Monday in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Spell died March 8, 2000, in Holderman Hospital, Yountville, after a long illness.

Born Jan. 17, 1932, in Louisiana, he moved to Napa County 11 years ago. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as a warehouse foreman in civil service at Mare Island Shipyard for 19 years.

Mr. Spell enjoyed cooking, and was a cook in the Air Force. He was an avid bowler and pool player. He was a loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Spell is survived his daughter, Danella Leins of Vacaville; sons, Leo of Vacaville and Gerald of Fairfield; stepchildren, Diane Allmond of Sacramento, David and Laurie Bliton of Georgia, Patty Bliton of Napa and Michael, Steven and Shawn Bliton, all of Vacaville; brothers, Douglas, John and Wayne, all of Louisiana; sisters, Roberta Turgeon of Fairfield and Phoebe Cormier of Louisiana; and grandchildren, Christopher, J.J., Anthony, Sherrie, Katie, Amanda, Stevie, Kyle and Cerena.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Oran Louis Spell to the Veterans Home of California, Attention: Public Affairs, P.O. Box 1200, Yountville, 94599.

Arrangements were handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Deborah Terrock

A celebration of life service for Deborah Terrock, 81, of Vacaville will be 5 p.m. Saturday at Sister Mary Ellen Oratory Chapel in Vacaville.

Mrs. Terrock died on Jan. 29, 2000.

Born on June 20, 1918, in Galesburg, Ill., she moved to the area two years ago and lived at Summerfield House after living in Sterling, Ill. She was a homemaker all her life.

Mrs. Terrock is survived by her daughters, Patty Yoder of Vacaville and Kristy Owens of Glen Mills, Pa.; and brother, Paul Rasmussen of West Covina.

Frances Tichenor

Former Leisure Town resident Frances Tichenor died March 8, 2000, in the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento from complications from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Jan. 11.

A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday in Leisure Town Hall, 100 Sequoia Ave., Leisure Town.

Born Feb. 5, 1914, in Baltimore, Md., she was married to Ralph Tichenor, a former Reporter columnist who preceded her in death. Mrs. Tichenor edited her husband's writing.

"Let it be known that every single time she was asked her age, Frances would ask, 'Can you keep a secret?' and when the answer was, 'Yes, of course,' her answer, with her well-known smile, would invariably be, 'Well, so can I,' said her granddaughter, Kathy McHugh of Sherman Oaks.

"Her family hopes that she will forgive them for publicly stating the year of her birth," she added.

Mrs. Tichenor was a longtime resident of Leisure Town, where she was active in community activities. She was a member of the Green Tree Niners and the Twice Arounders women's golf clubs.

After her husband's death in 1995, she moved to Elk Grove to live with her daughter, Louise McHugh. She was active in the senior center and the Elk Grove United Methodist Church. She also continued to be an avid golfer at both Emerald Lakes and Champions Golf Links golf courses, shooting, as she always said, "short but straight."

Although she no longer lived in Leisure Town, she always said she missed her Vacaville friends and enjoyed visiting for Christmas parties, and especially for the golf tournament and the presentation of the trophy named in her honor by the VacaValley Women's Club, a group Mrs. Tichenor organized and was the first captain of in 1964.

In addition to her husband, Ralph, she also was preceded in death by their son, Fred.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Louise McHugh of Elk Grove, her daughter-in-law, Bonnie of Sun Prairie, Wis., as well as nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her recent companion, Henry Krysiak.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Libby Allison Green

Dennis Keith Green

Memorial services for Libby Allison Green, 43, and Dennis Keith Green, 44, of Vacaville will be private. Inurnment for both also will be private.

Mr. and Mrs. Green died on March 5, 2000, at their residence in Vacaville.

Born on Oct. 4, 1956, in New Hampshire, Libby moved to the area 12 years ago. She worked as a carpenter for one year and was a private contractor. She was a very loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed gardening, long walks and writing poetry.

Born on June 14, 1955, in New Mexico, Dennis moved to the area 12 years ago. He worked as a carpenter for 26 years and was a private contractor. He was a master carpenter, poet and songwriter. He was a loving husband and brother and a devoted father.

Mrs. Green is survived by her son, Frederick Thiecke of Vacaville; sisters, Donna Irving and Beverly Hensley of New Hampshire; and brothers, William Carlson of New Hampshire and Carl Carlson of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her brother, Sydney Carlson in 1988; mother, Mary Carlson in 1959; and father, William Carlson in 1962.

Mr. Green is survived by his sons, Jessie of Winnemucca, Nev., and Jacob of Arkansas; mother and father, Don and Shirley of Dumas, Texas; brothers, Donie Hernandez of Guatemala, Douglas of Carson City and Cleve and Ruel Aldridge of Nevada City, Nev.; sisters, Stephanie Moore of Boise, Idaho, and Janet Has of Carson City; and grandchildren, Drew, Keenan, Stevie and Andy.

Richard John Michael

A funeral for Richard John Michael, 43, of Woodland will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Bishop Ernest Westover will officiate. Interment will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Michael died March 6, 2000, in his home after a short illness.

Born May 8, 1956, in Landstuhl, Germany, he resided in Woodland for four years. He attended Armijo High School and graduated from San Jose State with a master's degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Menlo Logistics until his death.

Mr. Michael enjoyed baseball in school and was also an avid golfer.

Mr. Michael is survived by his mother, Anna of Vallejo; and brothers, Stephen of Saratoga and Kenneth of Portola.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Gertrude Lela Lotz

Funeral services for Gertrude Lela Lotz, 87, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Stan Sanderson will officiate. Interment will be at Rockville Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ms. Lotz died on March 10, 2000, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.

Born on Nov. 8, 1912, in Placerville, she lived in the Suisun and Solano County area for the past 67 years. She spent the beginning of her career working for JC Penney as an office manager. She became the first female president of Suisun Chamber of Commerce. She was also a member of the Suisun City Council, a board member of Heart Federal Bank, now U S Bank, president of the Suisun Police and Fireman Boosters, and a member of the Travis Air Force Base Armed Forces Committee. She owned and operated Lotz Real Estate and was a loving mother and grandmother.

Ms. Lotz is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Joyce Nelson of Suisun City; brothers, Homer Hance of Twain Harte and Lloyd Hance of Lakeport; brother and sister-in-law, Jeane and Maxine Hance of Brookings, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Lola Hance of Modesto and Barbara Sullivan of Eugene, Ore.; grandchildren, Patty Bruno of Suisun and Jim Nelson of Vacaville; and great-grandchild, Brandon Bruno.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Suisun City Parks and Recreation Lotz Fund, 200 Merganser Drive, Suisun, 94585.

Tom Pittman Jr.

Funeral services for Tom Pittman Jr., 87, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield. His son, Loyd Jones, will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Pittman died on March 10, 2000, at his home in Fairfield.

Born on April 9, 1912, in Louisiana, he moved to Fairfield two weeks ago. He worked as a medical technician for San Francisco County for 40 years. He loved traveling, horses and racing, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Pittman is survived by his wife, Minnie of Fairfield; sons and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Adele of Fairfield; son, Tom III of Fairfield; sister, Minnie Seawell of Fairfield; and brothers, Bobbie of San Francisco and Wilbert of Cincinnati. He also had 16 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the NorthBay Hospice, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield, 94533.

Paul Evan Smith

A funeral for Paul Evan Smith, 77, of Vacaville, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Vacaville. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist.

Pastor LeRoy Gainey of First Baptist will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died on March 11, 2000, at VacaValley Hospital.

Born on Jan. 29, 1923, in Randlett, Okla., he moved to Fairfield in 1985. He had been living at Summerfield House in Vacaville since January.

He was retired from PG&E Co. after 42 years of service. He enjoyed working in his yard, bowling and sports. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Vera, in December, 1999; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Sue of Glendale, Ariz., Tommy and Jan of Vacaville, and Ron and Donna of Aptos; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Randy Hough of Martinez; grandchildren, Jerry Smith of Mesa, Ariz., Andy, Robbie and Chad Armosino of Martinez, Ryan Smith of Sacramento, Kelli Smith and Stacee Kamman of Vacaville and Dustin Smith of Aptos; brothers, Fred Smith of Santa Rosa and Don Smith of Olympia, Wash., and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Deacon Fund at First Baptist Church, 1127 Davis St., Vacaville, or Gideons International.

Arrangements are under the direction of Vaca Hills Chapel.

Louis Boyde Larsen

A memorial service for Louis Boyde Larsen, 84, of Vacaville will be at 7 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel. Pastor Tim May of Vaca Valley Christian Life Center will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born Aug. 5, 1915, in Sheridan, Wyo., Mr. Larsen died March 10, 2000, in Vacaville.

An accomplished musician, Mr. Larsen played the clarinet in a band during the Big Band era and piano for many different churches. He also took great interest in shooting his guns and reloading his own ammunition. He loved the outdoors and camping.

Most of all, Mr. Larsen loved his family and many wonderful friends. Many were touched by his loving heart. He was a member of the Gideons and the Eagles Lodge.

Mr. Larsen is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lily Bernice Larsen; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jeanett Larsen of Sheridan, Donald and Lisa Larsen of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; daughter, Valerie Caveness of Phoenix; son, Lowell Larsen of Hayward; daughter and son-in-law, Janine and Patrick Shurr of Vacaville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to Vaca Valley Christian Life Center Building Fund, 6391 Leisure Town Road, Vacaville, 95687.

Tom Pittman Jr.

A funeral for Tom Pittman Jr., 87, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield. His son, Loyd Jones, will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Pittman died on March 10, 2000, at his home in Fairfield.

John L. Carrion

Memorial services for John L. Carrion, 82, of Placerville, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Memory Chapel in Placerville. Pastor Richard Cain will officiate. Committal will be at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond.

Mr. Carrion died on March 12, 2000, in Placerville.

Born on May 15, 1917, in Oakland, he retired from Greyhound in 1974 after 30 years as a mechanic in San Francisco. He played slow-pitch softball for the Placerville Prospectors until the time of his death and coached Little League for many years. He umpired softball games for local leagues and once played against the San Francisco Seals, which featured a young outfielder named Joe DiMaggio.

Mr. Carrion is survived by his wife, Pat of Placerville; and sons and daughters-in-law, John and Johnetta of El Sobrante and Robert and Diane of Vacaville. He also had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma.

Bliss S. Dawson

No formal services will be held for Bliss S. Dawson, 63, of Vallejo. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Dawson died on March 9, 2000, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born on Sept. 21, 1936, in Detroit, he moved to Vallejo five years ago. He served in the Merchant Marines as a merchant seaman for 10 years. He was a member of the Longshoreman's Union.

Mr. Dawson is survived by his nieces, Jade Autry, Susie Donahue and Amber Donahue, all of Vallejo; and nephews, David Stephenson, Matt Donahue, Robert Donahue and Pat Donahue, all of Vallejo. He also had 10 grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Ramiro Guerrero-Ruiz

A Mass of the Resurrection for Ramiro Guerrero-Ruiz, 21, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Eugenio Lopez will officiate. Burial will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Nadeau Family Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Mr. Guerrero-Ruiz died on March 13, 2000, in Vacaville from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born on Aug. 9, 1978, in Fairfield, he was a 1997 graduate of Vacaville High School. He worked as a sales associate and cashier for Target Stores for the past five years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mr. Guerrero-Ruiz is survived by his parents, Jose and Maria Guerrero of Vacaville; brother, Jose of Vacaville; and sisters, Veronica, Sylvia, Linda and Lydia, all of Vacaville.
