John Edwin Hopson
A committal service for Camp Verde resident and World War II Navy veteran John Hopson is scheduled for Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery
of Arizona in Phoenix.
Mr. Hopson died Oct. 14, 1999 in Prescott at the age of 76.
An Arizona native, he was born in Winslow April 5, 1923 to Joseph C. and Velma M. (Welch) Hopson.
Mr. Hopson worked as a watchmaker and was a member of the American Legion in Camp Verde. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge in Flagstaff.
Mr. Hopson enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an excellent trap shooter.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Onda of Camp Verde; two daughters, Brenda and Claudia Hopson; a stepdaughter, Pamela Jackson of Camp Verde; a son, James Hopson of Peoria; a stepson, Donald Marion of California and two grandchildren.
Henry H. Fenn
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood for resident Henry Fenn. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery
in Clarkdale .
Mr. Fenn died suddenly on Oct. 15, 1999 in New Jersey.
He was born Aug. 30, 1928 in McComb, Miss.
Mr. Fenn was 71 years old. He worked for the Red Cross in construction and as a chef.
Mr. Fenn received a bachelors of science degree from Southeastern Louisiana College in 1957.
He was a Mason and member of the Red Rock Memorial Lodge #63, F & AM in Sedona.
Survivors include three daughters, Eunice Bailey of Cottonwood, Cheryl Yeoh of Malaysia and Lilah Waltz of California; a son-in-law, Pete Bailey; two sons, William and Denny Fenn of California; two granddaughters, Cassandra and Taylor Bailey of Cottonwood.
Donations in Mr. Fenn's memory may be made to the Red Cross Disaster Services, 6135 N. Black Canyon Hwy. Phoenix 85015-1892.
Kathleen E. Anderson
Kathleen Anderson, daughter of Phyllis Wilson and George Anderson of Cottonwood died Oct. 16, 1999.
Ms. Anderson of Prescott Valley was born April 21, 1952 in Boulder, Colo.
She was 47 years old.
Ms. Anderson was a medical transcriptionist for Precision Imaging Center in Prescott and Advanced Imaging of Prescott and Prescott Valley.
She was known for her good sense of humor. Her hobbies included shopping and the cinema.
A visitation is scheduled for today at the Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave in Cottonwood from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Verde Baptist Church, 102 S. Willard in Cottonwood.
Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery
in Clarkdale.
Survivors include her mother, Phyllis Elaine Wilson of Cottonwood; father, George H. Anderson MD of Cottonwood; stepfather, Fred Wilson; stepmother, Myra Anderson; a daughter, Amy Lee Shearer; five sisters, Linda Dianne (Anderson) Schaetzle of Prescott Valley, Barbara Anderson of Washington; Amy Moses of Phoenix; Ellen Ferris of Tempe and Elaine Drury of Tennessee; two brothers, Michael Moses and David Anderson of Phoenix and a step brother, Charles Roberts of Tempe.

Anthony Leroy Duran
Funeral services were held Monday for Anthony Duran at the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood. Rev. Dave Weed conducted the services.
Mr. Duran died Oct. 9, 1999 at the age of 35.
He was born May 11, 1964 in Santa Cruz, Calif., the son of Tony and Shelley (Fluto) Duran.
Mr. Duran's hobbies included reading, drawing and listening to music.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelley and Amanda Duran of Phoenix; his parents, Tony and Shelley Duran of Cottonwood; three brothers, James Mott of Cottonwood, Gabriel Duran and Daniel Duran of Phoenix; three sisters, Martha Bond of England, Bernadette Wilcutt of North Carolina and Jennifer Freeman of Maryland.

Diana L. Hoke
Cottonwood resident Diana L. Hoke died Oct. 4, 1999. She was 31.
She was born Feb. 28, 1968, in San Francisco, Calif., to Dale and Julie (Borgaro) Blan.
Mrs. Hoke moved with her family to Safford in 1972. When she was a sophomore in high school, she moved with her mother to Springville, Calif., and San Jose, Calif.
Diane and Dewayne were married on May 10, 1986, in Safford where they made their home for eight months. They moved to Indiana in 1987 where they lived until 1994. During this time they had two children, Annie and Daniel. They moved back to Safford for a brief time before moving to Flagstaff. While living in Flagstaff, she and Dewayne ran Flagstaff Motor Sports and Town & Country Stoves & Spas. In March of 1999, Mrs. Hoke and her family moved to Cottonwood after she became ill with breast cancer.
Funeral services were held Oct. 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Russell Johnson, presided. Burial was in the Community Cemetery
of Sedona.
Mrs. Hoke is survived by her husband and children, Dewayne, Annie and David Hoke; her father, Dale Blan; mother and stepfather, Julie and Jerry Hatfield; parents-in-law, Russell and Janet Hoke; two brothers, David Blan and his wife Kristen, and Ryan Blan; a sister, Jamie Blan; brother in law, Troy Hoke; grandmothers, Marilyn Borgaro and Ola Lee Winn. Also, two nieces, two nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins and an extended family of friends.
Richard M. Miller
Camp Verde resident Richard "Buddy" Miller died Oct. 2, 1999.
He was born March 7, 1968 in Cottonwood.
Mr. Miller was 31 years old.
He was an equipment operator for R.J. Meyers Construction Company of Sedona.
Mr. Miller was a member of the Protestant faith. He graduated high school in New Mexico.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Funeral services were held Oct. 6 at the Hepler Funeral Home in Camp Verde.
Survivors include a son, Logan Miller of New Mexico; his parents, Bill and Mary Miller of Camp Verde; five sisters, Vicki Martin of Utah, Cindy Anthony and Patty Williams of Camp Verde, Sharnay Willis of Las Vegas and Ronda Usher of Colorado; a brother, Perry Miller of Maryland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marjorie Wingfield Cameron
Arizona native and former Rimrock and Lake Montezuma resident Marjorie Cameron died Oct. 5, 1999 in Colorado.
She was born June 29, 1917 in Prescott to James H. Wingfield and Ida Casmey (Longa) Wingfield.
Mrs. Cameron grew up in Camp Verde where she played both basketball and tennis. She graduated with honors from Camp Verde High School and later attended Arizona State Teacher's College in Flagstaff where she graduated in 1938.
Mrs. Cameron taught school for the Yuma County School District from 1938 to 1943. During the 1940's she worked as a dispatcher for Southern Pacific Railroad in Yuma. In 1946 Mrs. Cameron moved to California with her husband and son. She taught school for the Fontana School District for the next 10 years.
In 1968 Mrs. Cameron and her husband Leonard retired to Arizona and lived in Rimrock and later moved to Lake Montezuma. In 1996 she relocated to Colorado to be closer to her son and family.
Mrs. Cameron was known as a kind hearted, loving and generous person who was quick to come to the aid of someone in need. Her hobbies included gardening, bridge and working crossword puzzles. She was very much loved by those who knew her and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for today at 10:30 a.m. in the Westcott Funeral Home in Camp Verde. Burial will follow at the Clear Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Cameron was preceded in death by her husband in 1985.
Survivors include her son James Cameron and two grandchildren, Clint and Lauren Cameron of Colorado.
Durward Stephen 'Jack' Griggs
A memorial service was held for Durward Griggs at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cottonwood Ward Sept. 18. An inurnment took place at the National Memorial Cemetery
of Arizona in Phoenix.
Mr. Griggs died Sept. 15, 1999 in Prescott.
He was born Jan. 17, 1919 in Bridgewater, Vermont to Wesley and Mildred (Lohnes) Griggs.
Mr. Griggs was a World War II veteran of the US Army. He worked as a truck driver and moved to Arizona in 1989.
Mr. Griggs was a member of the Cottonwood Ward of the LDS church.
Survivors include a daughter, April Wilson of Michigan and two grandchildren.
John Robert Kraetz
Lake Montezuma resident John Robert Kraetz died Nov. 22, 1999.
He was 74 years old.
Mr. Kraetz was born in Bisbee and lived in Tucson and Scottsdale.
He was a WWII Navy veteran of the Normandy Invasion and Pacific Theater.
Mr. Kraetz was also a retired plant manager for Mountain Bell.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marie; daughter Karen Kraetz of Scottsdale; sons John Kraetz of Cave Creek and Jerry Kraetz of Flagstaff; brother Bill Kraetz and wife Barbara of Tucson; four grand-children and one great-grand-child. He was preceded in death by his son James.
A memorial service is scheduled for today at 2 p.m. at Montezuma Chapel in Lake Montezuma.
Betty J. Geyer
Graveside services for Betty J. Geyer of Glendale are scheduled for today at 1 p.m. in the Middle Verde Cemetery.
Mrs. Geyer died Nov. 21, 1999. She was 76 years old.
Mrs. Geyer was born in Milwaukee and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Verde Lakes Property Owners Association. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Geyer served as a court administrator for the U.S. government.
She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Jerome; two daughters, Celeste Page and Melanie Geyer; four sons, Bill Geyer of Camp Verde, Richard, Christopher and Robert Dolk; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, James.
The service will be conducted by Hepler Funeral Home of Camp Verde.
Richard D. Hatton
Richard D. "Doc" Hatton of Cottonwood died Nov. 19, 1999 in Cottonwood. He was 69 years old.
Mr. Hatton was born Dec. 25, 1929 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was a retired stationary steam engineer.
He and his wife Sondra recently moved to Cottonwood from Montana. He was a member of the Crossroads Church of Columbia Falls, Mont.
He is survived by his wife Sondra Hatton; two daughters, Mary of Washington and Jane Raban of Flagstaff; four sons, Tom Hatton of Canyon County, Calif.; Richard Hatton, Harry Hatton and Tim Hatton, all of Spokane, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Sheri Litchfield and Vickie Moreland, both of Kalispell, Mont.; two stepsons, Jerry Moreland of Kalispell, Mont., and Paul Baker of Seattle; two sisters, Emma Hickman of Norwalk, Calif., and Hazel Boll of Las Lunas, N.M.; 30 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Montana. Westcott Funeral Home directed arrangements.
Loretta M. Fridley
Loretta Marie Fridley, 73, of Cottonwood, died Nov. 13, 1999 in Scottsdale. Funeral services were Saturday in Westcott Funeral Home, with burial in Cottonwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Fridley was born in East Moline, Ill. She attended the Verde Valley Evangelical Free Church.
She leaves a son, Richard Fridley of Cottonwood.
