Aune M. Makela
Funeral services for Aune M. Makela of Cottonwood are scheduled for Sept. 11, 1999 at 1 p.m. in Westcott Funeral Home.
Mrs. Makela died Tuesday in Mesa. She was 86.
She had lived in Arizona for 30 years, coming from Michigan.
Mrs. Makela is survived by four daughters, Bertha Gandhi of San Jose, Calif., Florence Patel of Mesa, Betty MacWillett of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donna Castillo of Cottonwood; a son, James Makela of North Las Vegas; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Her husband Leonard died in March 1995.
Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LHS Home and Community Care Hospice, 1325 N. Fiesta Blvd. #1, Gilbert, Ariz., 85233.
Randy Eugene Turnipseed
A memorial service for Randy Eugene Turnipseed of Camp Verde was held Thursday.
Mr. Turnipseed died Sunday, September 5, 1999 at the age of 37. He was an assembler for an aircraft company.
Mr. Turnipseed was born in Wisconsin. He was an avid hunter and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Leanne of Cottonwood; his parents Lavone and Joy Turnipseed and Sonja Hunt and Richard; a sister, Jamie Brown; and three brothers, Rick, Larry and Tim Turnipseed.
The memorial service was at the First Assembly of God in Camp Verde.
Ada G. Farr
Longtime Cottonwood resident Ada G. Farr passed away Sept. 2, 1999 at Posada del Sol in Tucson.
Mrs. Farr was born in Jerome in 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband Harlow Farr.
She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Halsey; her son Gerald Farr; a sister Margie Finch; two brothers, Ben and Henry Guzman; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Sept. 7 at Greenwood Memory Lawn, with Pastor John Finch officiating.

Bernice (Sally) Case
Sally Case died in the late evening of Sept. 3, 1999 at the Rio Verde Convalescent Hospital in Cottonwood.
She was born Bernice Omer in New York City, July 1, 1918.
Sally lived for many years in Southern California. In 1982, she and her husband moved to northern Arizona. The settled in Cottonwood and have been residents since that time.
She is survived by her husband Karl Case, her sister Jeanne Grant of Cottonwood, four sons, John from Oregon, Craig and Richard from California, and Steve from Virginia.
Sally had many friends at the Verde Valley Medical Center, where she served for several years as a volunteer. She was a member of the congregation of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Sedona for 15 years.
Services will be held at the columbarium of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Sedona at a later date with family and friends attending.
M. Christine Frasca
Mary Christine "Chris" Frasca died Sept. 4, 1999 in Cottonwood. She was 72.
Mrs. Frasca was born March 12, 1927 in Mesa. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Connecticut in pediatrics. She also worked in convalescent hospitals and in private duty.
Mrs. Frasca was a member of Women's Aglow, Homemakers, King's Kids and Sweet Adelines. She served as a camp nurse and taught aqua aerobics in Connecticut and Arizona.
Music was an important part of her life. She served with Christian music groups and was Old Town Mission's music coordinator. She taught guitar to different groups, accompanied liturgical dance with guitar and was a competitive marching band chaperone.
Mrs. Frasca was also a Sunday School teacher for 25 years with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She leaves her husband George Frasca; three daughters, Mary Grace and her husband Julian of Houston, Texas, Betty Ruiz Velasco and husband Francisco of Santa Monica, Calif., and Susan Frasca of Cottonwood; a son Donald and his wife Gloria of Cottonwood; two sisters, Audrey Johnson and Ruth Dammann; two brothers, Frank Donald Higginbotham and his wife Mary, and Brazil Higginbotham and his wife Wilma; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Fellowship, 1580 E. Fir St. in Cottonwood. Westcott Funeral Home is directing the arrangement.
Donations in her memory may be made to the building fund of Evangel Worship Center, 1329 E. Apache St. Cottonwood, 86326.
Prudencio Floren Amor
Prudencio "Floren" Amor passed away Sept. 6, 1999 at the age of 99.
He was born in Gindulman, Bohol, the Philippines in April 1900. He died at his home in Abachanan, Sierra Bullones, Philippines.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, seven sisters and a grandson, Ralph Prudencio Childs.
He is survived by five daughters: Escolastica "Tek" Childs of Cottonwood, Josefina Clarion, Rafaela Tadle, Fabiana Amor and Maria Elsa Amor all of the Philippines, a son Candelario Amor of the Philippines, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted in Taglibaran. Monetary gifts may be donated to Children's School and Orphanage.
Catherine M. Markson
Private family services were held for Lake Montezuma resident Catherine m. Markson.
Mrs. Markson died Aug. 27, 1999 at the age of 76.
She was born June 14, 1923 in Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Markson lived in Arizona for 75 years and was employed by the State of Arizona in the Department of Social Services.
She was a member of the El Valle Artist's Association and the Alumni Association of Arizona State University.
Mrs. Markson was an ardent lover of family, art and cats. She was a prolific painter with an interest in Native American Indians, the Mexican culture and other ethnic peoples, cultures, and places.
Survivors include four sons, Donald Frankel of Flagstaff, Philipp Frankel of Virginia, Gregory Frankel of Lake Montezuma and Gary Frankel of Phoenix; two daughters, Karen Frankel of Peoria and Teresa Frankel of Flagstaff and a brother, Lewis Bruce of Carefree.
Memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity International, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, Ga. 31709.
Beth Ruth Gilfert
A memorial services was held Aug. 28, 1999 for Camp Verde resident and Arizona native, Betty Gilfert.
Mrs. Gilfert died Aug. 18, 1999.
She was born Dec. 27, 1929 in Phoenix.
A homemaker, Mrs. Gilfert loved cooking, baking and her cats.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Lee and Linda Gilfert of Calif.; a son, David Gilfert of Wash.; a sister, Judy Dabney of Wyoming; three nieces, Judy Harvil and Renee Yarborough of Prescott, and Debbie Clements of Phoenix; four nephews, Mike Culpepper and Robert Culpepper of Camp Verde, Steve Culpepper of California, and Wynn Culpepper, Jr. of Florence.
Mrs. Gilfert was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Z. Gilfert; her parents, Virgil and Deborah Culpepper and a brother, Wynn Culpepper, Sr.
William L. Dicker
A memorial service was held Aug. 30 for Cornville resident and veteran William Dicker. The service was held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Cottonwood with Deacon Ron Pelton presiding.
A second memorial mass and burial is scheduled for a later date in Wonder Lakes, Ill.
Mr. Dicker died Aug. 27, 1999 at the age of 68.
He was born June 24, 1931 in Chicago the son of Edward H. and Grace (Lees) Dicker.
Before his retirement Mr. Dicker was employed by the State of Illinois. He also worked for International Harvester as a test driver.
Mr. Dicer served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949-1952, attaining the rank of corporal.
He was active in the Kiwanis Club, The Boy Scouts and for 35 years he participated in local politics.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Dicker; four sons, William E. Dicker of Minnesota; David L. Dicker of Illinois, Charles R. Dicker of Hawaii and Michael W. Dicker of Illinois; five daughters-in-law, Christine, Patricia, Julie and Barbara Dicker; a daughter, Cynthia M. Engers of Prescott; a son-in-law, Charles; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dicker was preceded in death by his son, Gregory J. Dicker.

Wayne I. Garrison II
A private memorial service was held for Wayne Garrison II on Aug. 28 at Beaver Creek Baptist Church in Rimrock.
Mr. Garrison was a veteran and resident of Lake Montezuma.
He died on Aug. 24, 1999 at the age of 53.
Mr. Garrison was born June 30, 1946 in Kansas City, Mo.
A veteran, he served in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Garrison was a retired physician in family practice. He was president of State Medical Society, ACOFP.
His hobbies included golfing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Signe Garrison; two sons, Robert and Lanny Garrison of Lake Montezuma; his mother, Jean Garrison of Kansas and a sister, Terrie Ann Gornet of Texas.
Eunice Hope Quennell
Sedona resident Eunice Hope Quennell died Aug. 20, 1999.
Memorial services are scheduled at the Unity Church of Sedona, 65 Deer Trail Drive for Friday at 10 a.m.
Mrs. Quennell will be remembered for her grace, beauty and elegance. She was an artist, poet and visionary. Her life touched the souls of many.
Survivors include a sister, Geraldine Boldery; two daughters, Marjorie West and Patricia Braddy; two sons-in-law, Cap and Bill; three granddaughters, Kristin, Sheri and Teri; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Brenja; two nieces, Diane and Christine; a great nephew, Chad and a beloved friend, Anne Elmore.
Mary Mattos
A memorial mass is scheduled for today at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Cottonwood resident Mary Mattos. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery
in Clarkdale.
Mrs. Mattos died Oct. 22, 1999 at the age of 69.
She was born in Montebello, Calif., but moved to Arizona when she was 8 years old.
Mrs. Mattos was a member of the Verde Valley Moose Lodge #1449.
She was a member of the congregation of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband Caesar Mattos; seven sisters; two brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Bessie Mae Moss
Cornville resident Bessie Moss died Oct. 24, 1999 in Cottonwood.
She was 71 years old.
Mrs. Moss was born July 30, 1928 in Allentown, Pa.
She worked as a trainer for the Bell Systems for many years before her retirement.
Mrs. Moss was an Arizona resident for five years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Moss in 1998.
Survivors include four nieces, Sharon Ware, Deborah Blackwell, Marlene Boffman and Marsha Gordon of Ohio; four great-nieces; two great-nephews and one great-great-nephew.
A gathering of friends is scheduled for Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood.
