ROBERT CRIPPEN
Robert Gene Crippen, 63, died April 12, 2004, in Needles, California.
Robert, an auto mechanic, was born April 25, 1940, in El Monte, Calif. He was a member of the Needles Elks BPOE #1608 and the Needles Eagles Lodge. He founded the Keystone Racing Team for open road racing.
Robert is survived by a son, Michael Crippen of Mohave Valley; a daughter, Beverly Bermudez, of Phoenix; and a brother, Richard Crippen of Napa, Calif.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 16 at 10 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery
in Needles, Calif.
Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Needles, Calif.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dimond and Sons Silver Bell Chapel.
JACQUELIN SHARMAN
Jacqueline Theresa Sharman passed away April 9, 2004 at her home in Bullhead City, Arizona. She was born May 15, 1937 in Buffalo, New York, and moved to Bullhead City in 1979.
Jackie worked as the Lost and Found clerk at the Edgewater Casino for the last twelve years. There she was admired as an employee and loved by her co-workers.
Jackie is survived by her son, Lyle Sharman of Bullhead City; her daughter, Deborah Laurent of Fort Mojave; and her three beloved grandchildren, Justin Brown, Autumn Brown and Mekhaela Laurent.
A Holy Mass Service will be held Friday, April 16, 2004 at 4:00 PM at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, 1691 N. Oatman Rd., Bullhead City.
Jackie is known for her smile and her desire to do for others.
She had many friends that she is leaving behind.
Jackie was a faithful believer, the greatest mother, and the most loving grandmother.
She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten!

Vance E. Jaquith
A military burial for Vance Jaquith will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery
of Arizona on Cave Creek Road.
Visitation and funeral services were Thursday at the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood.
Mr. Jaquith was 80 years old. He died July 27, 1999. He was a resident of Arizona for 50 years.
He was born in Grand Junction, Colo., Jan. 30, 1919, to Claire and Pearl (Miller) Jaquith.
Mr. Jaquith was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. During the Vietnam Conflict, he was a civilian consultant for the U.S. government, providing housing for the military.
Until his retirement, he worked as a plumbing contractor.
He was a member of the Westerners Hiking Club of Sedona, the Sedona Good Sam's Camping Group. He was a member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church in Cottonwood and in past years had also attended the Church of the Red Rocks in Sedona.
Mr. Jaquith is survived by his wife of 20 years, Maythel; his four children, Lana Palmer of Ketchican, Alaska, Michael Jaquith of Riverside, Calif., Terry Jaquith of Colorado, and Laurel Vanlandingham of Compo, Calif.; a stepson, David McCleerey of Borego Springs, Calif.; a sister, Arlene Pleyer of Raytown, Mo.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pedro M. Mendoza
Funeral services for Clarkdale resident Pedro "Pete" Mendoza, 76, will be Saturday at 10 a.m.
The services will be in the gymnasium at the Middle Verde Yavapai-Apache Nation. Burial will be in the Middle Verde Reservation Cemetery. Mr. Mendoza died July 25, 1999.
He was born Nov. 7, 1922 to Ramon and Marie Mendoza. He was a life-long resident of the Verde Valley.
Mr. Mendoza had many employers during his working career. He worked for Babbitts Homecenter, Cottonwood Feed Store and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Police Department. At the time of his retirement, he was employed by the State Park Service.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post 7400 in Cottonwood. He was also involved in community service, donating his time to the Salvation Army, the Seventh-day Adventist Food Bank, the Old Town Mission and the Yavapai-Apache Senior Program.
Mr. Mendoza is survived by his wife Amy and six children, Judy Anderson of Camp Verde, Nicholas Mendoza, William Mendoza, Lisa Marie Mendoza, Mary Ann James and Leroy Gibson, all of Clarkdale; several grandchildren, including Amy Louis Anderson; a sister, Marie, and many nieces and nephews.
Frank P. Zidek
A funeral Mass will be held today at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Frank Zidek.
He died July 28, 1999. He was 86 years old.
Visitation is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., with the funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m.
Mr. Zidek was born April 26, 1913 in Chicago. As a boy, he spent eight years in Czechoslovakia.
He was a veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific. He also attended Crane Technical School in Chicago.
Mr. Zidek was employed for many years at Reynolds Aluminum in Chicago. He and his wife moved to this area 14 years ago. They were both active in AARP and the Telephone Pioneers.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne; six stepdaughters, Loretta Radomski, Claudia Becker and her husband Bob, Pam Pierson, Nancy Dano, Joyce Vanerka and her husband Terry and Christine Mendoza; a stepson, John Putnam and his wife Christy; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Westcott Funeral Home is directing the funeral arrangements.
Marion L. Martin Jr.
Camp Verde resident and Arizona native Marion L. Martin Jr. died July 19, 1999.
He was born July 11, 1930 in Glendale, Ariz.
Mr. Martin was 69 years old.
He was a maintenance foreman for the Camp Verde Unified School district for six years.
Mr. Martin was a Christian who believed his family was his number one priority.
He was a cowboy who enjoyed woodworking, fishing and recreating in the outdoors.
Survivors include two daughters, Shari of Indiana and Anna of Cottonwood; two sons, Marvin of Cottonwood and Larry of Apache Junction; two sisters, Jean and Sue; a brother, Michael; his mother, Nora of Glendale; 14 grandchildren and five grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at the Middle Verde Cemetery
in Camp Verde.
Jojuana L. Parker
Jojuana Parker, the mother of Cornville resident Nancy Baker died June 22, 1999 in Boise, Idaho.
Mrs. Parker was born Nov. 14, 1931 at the Grand Canyon.
She was past president and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #5452 in Oregon.
Services were held June 25 in New Plymouth, Idaho.
Mrs. Parker was predeceased by her husband James Virgil Parker; parents, Ed and Grace Edgmon Hale; a son, James Lee Parker and a brother, Guy Hale.
Survivors include her daughter Nancy J. Baker of Cornville; a son-in-law, Jeff Baker and a grandchild, Michelle Lee.
Betty Lou Roberson
Graveside services were held on July 22 at the Hill City Cemetery
for Cottonwood resident Betty Lou Roberson. The Rev. Dwayne Snell officiated the service.
Mrs. Roberson died July 20, 1999 in South Dakota.
She was born in Hill City, S.D. Nov. 22, 1931 the daughter of James and Lula (Borland) Roberson. Mrs. Roberson grew up in Hill City and graduated from Hill City High School.
For the past 25 years she resided in Cottonwood where she was employed at Copperstrand Nursing Home and most recently at Lutheran Nursing Home as the recreational coordinator.
Mrs. Roberson was very active with her church in Cottonwood and had a very strong faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include two sisters, Alice Lowe of California and Dorothy Niesenbaum; a brother-in-law, Mory Niesenbaum; four brothers, Fritz, Harry, George and Glenn Roberson; four sisters-in-law, Loretta, Frances, Doloris and Betty Roberson; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Hills.
William Dean Shepard
Cottonwood resident William "Shep" Shepard died July 20, 1999.
He was 81 years old.
Mr. Shepard was born Oct. 28, 1917 in Wardell, Mo.
He was a vehicle maintenance worker for a construction company.
Mr. Shepard was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Survivors include his wife Doris Shepard of Cottonwood; two sons, Mike Shepard of Cottonwood and Dan Shepard of Apache Junction; a daughter, Pam Shepard of Texas; a brother, Walter Shepard of Las Vegas; a sister, Mary Still of Missouri; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held July 22 at the Westcott Funeral Home followed by a burial at National Memorial Cemetery
of Arizona.
Hubert F. Cluff
Veteran and Cornville resident Hubert Cluff died July 18, 1999 at the age of 75.
He was born in Miami, Ariz. June 18, 1924 the son of Fenton L. and Fern (Coombs) Cluff.
Mr. Cluff served in the United States Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
A fish culturist, Mr. Cluff worked for 36 years for the Arizona Department of Fish and Game.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Jacqueline (Hazeltine) Cluff; three sons, Wayne M., Raymond H., and Kevin Cluff of Seattle; a step-son, Michael Chambers of Texas; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held July 22 at Valley View Cemetery
in Clarkdale. The service was conducted by Bishop Collin Connolly and military honors were provided by VFW Post 7400 of Cottonwood.
E. Margaret Stolmeier
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. at the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood for resident E. Margaret Stolmeier. Burial services will follow at the Valley View Cemetery
in Clarkdale.
Mrs. Stolmeier died July 19, 1999 at the age of 78.
She was born Sept. 14, 1920 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of John and Emma Lueders. She married Charles V. Stolmeier on Sept. 1, 1941 and together they raised five children.
Mr. Stomeier preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1983.
Mrs. Stomeier retired from the Outing Club after 18 years of service. She moved with her husband into Verde Village in 1976.
While living in Verde Village she was an active member of the community, participating in the production and distribution of the Home Owner's Association Roundup News. She served on local election board committees and was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Mrs. Stolmeier's strong commitment to family and friends was well recognized and admired by those that loved her.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Sweetman of Florida, Peg Rogers of Kansas and Jeanne Briggs of Chino Valley; two daughters-in-law, Judy Stolmeier and Mary Jekel-Stolmeier; two sons, Robert Stolmeier of Indiana and Martin Stolmeier of Los Angeles; three sons-in-law, Fred Sweetman, Dave Rogers and Roger Briggs; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Smith of Michigan and a brother, John Lueders of Indiana.

Jean Heath
Cottonwood resident Jean Heath died July 4, 1999.
She was born in Palo Alto, Calif. but lived in Cottonwood for the last 25 years.
Mrs. Heath was 67 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Clark of Clarkdale and Larry Clark of Washington; a daughter, Linda Correa of Cottonwood; step-sons, Norman and Dan Heath of Cottonwood; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m. at the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood.
Lora L. Swanson
A memorial service was held on Saturday at the Mountain View United Methodist Church for Lora Swanson. Burial will be Thursday in LaFayette, Ind. in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Swanson died on July 15, 1999.
She was a member of Mountain View Methodist Church.
Mrs. Swanson was an avid golfer and bridge player. She enjoyed participating in golf and bridge with her neighbors at Pine Shadows in Cottonwood.
Survivors include a son, Keith Swanson of Colorado; two daughters, Peggy Adams of Indiana and Marla Schneider of Chino Valley; a brother, Ermal Pownall; five granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren.
