George Piveral
1917 - 2004
George Piveral, 86, of Benson, died Jan. 20, 2004, at Quiburi Mission. He lived in the area three years and previously resided in Why, Ariz. and Maryville, Mo.
He was born March 30, 1917, in Maryville, Mo., to Matilda Bramble and Clarence Piveral.
He worked as a decorator. George served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was Post Commander of American Legion, Maryville, Elks.
George was a member of Christian Church, Maryville, Mo.
Memorial Services were held Saturday, Jan. 24, at 1:30 p.m., at S.K.P. Park, with Gerald Long of the Living Faith Fellowship officiating.
His body was donated to science and research.
Survivors included his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Hiles; sons, Don, Jerry, John and Marvin; daughter, Sharon Runyon; one brother, James; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mary Sylvia Ohnesorgen
1939 - 2004
Mary Sylvia Ohnesorgen, a resident of Bedford Hills for 38 years, died March 20, 2004, at Northern Westchester Hospital. She was 64.
She was born Oct. 13, 1939, in Benson, Ariz., to Edward and Victoria Bernal Ohnesorgen.
Mary was employed as a registered nurse for 25 years and was the head of the IV Department at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco; retiring in 1996. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Phoenix, Ariz. and Mercy College with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
She was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Katonah.
Mary will be remembered for setting the high standards for the IV Department and for being a mentor and advocate for the many nurses she work with, being held in the highest esteem.
Survived by five brothers and two sisters, Dora Ohnesorgen of Benson, Ariz., Jake Ohnesorgen of Benson, Ariz., Edward Ohnesorgen of Tucson, Ariz., Bill Ohnesorgen of Benson, Ariz., Rudy Ohnesorgen of Alpine, Calif., Irene Duskin of Katonah, N.Y., Frank Ohnesorgen of Phoenix, Ariz. and her favorite brother-in-law, Ken Duskin. Also survived by 24 nieces and nephews and 26 grandnieces and nephews; 15 Godchildren and her loving cat Dorita.
Mass was held Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Benson. Interment followed at High Street Cemetery
in Benson.
There will be a Memorial Mass in St. Mary's Church, Katonah at a future date.
Memorial contributions may be made to: The Oncology Department of Northern Westchester Hospital.

William J. "Bill" Tuma
1923 - 2004
William J. "Bill" Tuma, age 80, died March 21, 2004, in Benson, Ariz. He lived in the area three years and previously resided in Tombstone.
He was born April 3, 1923, in Phillips, Wis., to John and Grace Corbin Tuma. Bill was a construction worker.
Services were held March 25, at 2 p.m., at Richardson's Remembrance Chapel in Benson.
A private cremation was held.
Survivors include three sons, Jim (Kathy) Tuma of Santa Ana, Calif., Dan (Alice) Tuma of Tombstone, Ariz., and Alan (Ellen) Tuma of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Janice (Doc) Springer of Dover, Fla. And Debbie Wisenborn of Silverton, Colo.; one brother, John Tuma and three sisters, Josephine (Clayton) Teeters, Mary Clark and Wilma Mihelick, all of Wisconsin and Missouri; also six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Vernard Paul Kelsey
1945 - 2004
On May 21, 2004, Vernard Paul Kelsey went to be with our Lord. He was born on Sept. 18, 1945, in Syracuse, N.Y. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara. Also, five children, Melissa Quiroz (Tony), Vern Kelsey, Lynn Kelsey, Paul Kelsey (Tiffany) and Kirk Kelsey; grandchildren, Savannah, Antonio, Sierra, Kendra, Christopher and Robert; and his sister Mary Compo. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and The Leroy Jenkins Ministry.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching Scooby-Doo, eating ice cream and playing basketball with them. He also enjoyed working on old Ford trucks with his sons.
He retired from Raytheon in 2001, where he worked for over 20 years. Vernard proudly served our country during the Vietnam War (1966-1967).
The viewing and rosary will be held Wednesday (today), June 2, at 5 p.m., at Richardson's Mortuary. The Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Thursday, June 3, at 11 a.m. Anyone wishing to attend may follow the funeral procession to Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery
at Ft. Huachuca, where he will be laid to rest.
The Pall Bearers are Vern Kelsey, Paul Kelsey, Kirk Kelsey, Robert Willis and Tony Quiroz. Honorary Pall Bearers are Antonio Quiroz and Christopher Kelsey.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to The Jerry Eismon Scholarship Foundation. In the memory of their husband, father, best friend and grandfather, the family asks that you continue to pray for our service men and women in Iraq and throughout the world that are serving and fighting for our Freedom.
Louise Riddle
1923 - 2004
Louise Riddle, 81, of Boulder, Colo. (formerly of Benson), died July 11, 2004, in Boulder, where she was a resident since the early 1950s. She was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Benson, Ariz., to Harold Holkomb and Rosa (Schwab) Holkomb.
She married John Riddle, in Arizona, in 1948. Mrs. Riddle attended the University of Arizona, taught high school history and English and was a good teacher. Mrs. Riddle was a member of the Good Samaritan Community of Boulder, Colo. She had a great love for dogs.
Services will be announced at a later date, with interment also at a later date, in Benson, Ariz.
Preceded in death by parents and husband. Survivors include two sisters, Jean Smith of Tempe, Ariz. And Phyllis Orr of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three nieces and four nephews.

Esther May Copeland
1921 - 2004
Esther May Copeland, 83, a seven-year resident of Benson, Ariz., died Dec. 3, 2004, in Benson. She previously lived in Melbourne, Fla.
Esther was born Nov. 12, 1921, to William T. and Laura E. Brown Davenport in Norwich, Conn. She attended four years of college.
She met and married Frank Copeland on Feb. 26, 1944. They have two children, Judith (David) Sawyer and James (Nancy) Copeland. They have five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Esther was Worthy Matron of La Mirada Chapter in California in 1973 and again in Silver Star Chapter #53 in 2001-2002 in Benson, Ariz. Order of the Eastern Star. She was Deputy Grand Matron in 1980-1981, in California. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile and life member of VFW and a Moose member for 40 years.
She leaves behind her husband, Frank, after 60 years of marriage.
Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 7, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Richardson's Remembrance Center, Benson, with a special service by O.E.S. Silver Star Chapter #53.
Esther was a member of St. Raphael's Episcopal Church in Benson, where services will be held Wednesday (today), Dec. 8, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Bill Johnson officiating.
Interment is at So. Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Sierra Vista, Ariz.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Raphael's Episcopal Church Building Fund, Benson, Ariz.

Marian Eleanor Schilling
1929 - 2004
Marian Eleanor Schilling was born on Nov. 20, 1929. She passed on Dec. 1, 2004, at the age of 75.
Marian was born in Lemmon, S.D., to Grace and Herbert Robertson. After her father's death, her mother wed William Blankenburg. Marian graduated from high school in Akron,a Iowa. She married John Schilling Sept. 16, 1950, and in 1955, they left Iowa and moved to Arizona.
Marian played softball with the Benson Queens in the 1950s and 1960s. She worked at Zeke's Country Store, G & F Pizza and Tres Alamos Ranch. She began work at Benson High School Library Feb. 16, 1977 and she then transferred to the elementary school May 1989, where she worked in the library and on the playground until her retirement May 22, 1992.
She was active in the St. David Baptist Church for many years.
Marian was preceded in death by her mother and dad, Grace and Bill Blankenburg in 1995.
She is survived and will be missed by her son James Schilling, his children Crystal and Leilani Gibson and their five children; her daughters Dorothy Mikell Schilling and her children Eileen Seek, Rebecca (Dominic) Diaz, Nathanael and Kevin, and their six children; Donna Heiden (Duncan Wiltse) and her children Sara, Heidi (Jeff Goslee) and William (Heiden) Tindall Blankenburg and their eight children; and Debi Davis (Steve Peterson) and her children Andrea (Dana) Clerc, Kriket Clifford, Robin (Patrick) Prichard and Cody Martin and their five children. Marian is also survived by her sister Donna (Lee) Rolfes and family, her brother Jim (Marsha) Blankenburg and family, John Schilling, other loving family and friends.
Memorial Service is tentatively set for 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at St. David Baptist.
Mercedes Curtis Comaduran
1942 - 2004
Mercedes Curtis Comaduran, "Mercy," 62 years old, of Bisbee, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.
Mercy was born in Benson, Ariz., on Sept. 12, 1942, to Louis Henry Comaduran and Mary Curtis Comaduran. She is one of two sisters and 12 brothers. Mercy was always outgoing and positive. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor. Mercy was religious and enjoyed music.
She was preceded in death most recently by two brothers, Johnny in 1994 and Pedro in 1966.
Mercy had spent a larger part of her life in the care of the Cochise County Association for the Handicapped, which is an extension of her family.
Survivors include: sister, Gloria Alvarez of Benson; brothers, Louis (Esperanza) Comaduran of California, Mariano of Benson, Jose of Phoenix, Manuel (Diana) of Douglas, Tony (Danita) of Benson, Jerry of Bisbee; and many relatives.
A Rosary was said at the Holy Trinity Monastery on Hwy. 80 in St. David, Ariz., on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004. Funeral Mass was held at noon Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at the Monastery. Rev. Henry officiated. Interment was in the High Street Cemetery
at Benson, Ariz.

Clare Jesse Rhynard
1921 - 2004
Clare Jesse Rhynard, 84, died peacefully on Nov. 6, 2004, in Tucson, Ariz. CJ was born on Oct. 21, 1920, in Wheeler, Mich., to Ervin and Nancy (Luce) Rhynard.
His early working years included employment in farming, automotive industry and the dairy industry.
In 1972, CJ moved to Arizona. He worked for Magma Copper Company from 1972 until he retired in 1986. After retirement, he lived in a number of places including Michigan, California and Arizona. His last few years were spent in Benson, Ariz.
He is survived by his five children, Nick of Australia, Sharon Husch (Tony) of Lansing, Mich., Mike (Wen-Mei) of Seattle, Wash., Rick (Charmaine) of Tucson, Ariz. and Steve (Etta) of Tucson, Ariz.
CJ is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be laid to rest in Shepherd, Mich., at the Salt River Cemetery
on Nov. 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. A graveside service will immediately follow.
Helen Marie Davenport
1924 - 2004
Helen M. Davenport, 79, a one-year resident of Benson, Ariz., died Oct. 22, 2004, in Benson. Helen moved to Benson from Tucson, Ariz., where she had lived since 1980.
Helen was born Nov. 15, 1924, to William and Bessie Lindsey in Schenectady, N.Y. She attended college at Buffalo State Teachers College.
Helen taught first grade at St. Rose of Lima school in Syracuse, N.Y. for 10 years.
She married Eugene (Gene) F. Davenport in 1945. Gene died in 1979.
Helen is survived by their two children, Daniel and Richard. Daniel is a long-term resident of Benson; Richard resides in Orlando, Fla. Helen is also survived by her three grandchildren: Justin and Adrian Davenport (both born in Benson to Daniel and Joan Davenport) and Jennifer Davenport (the daughter of Richard and Diane Davenport of Orlando, Fla.).
Helen was buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Monastery in St. David, Ariz., by Rev. Msgr. Daniel J. Hurley. The mass is planned for Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at noon.
