ROTH, Myra R. “Mimsey’, of Tucson, died January 31, 1996. Formerly of New York City and Westport, CT, she was a partner and co-owner with her husband Roy of an advertising agency before retiring in 1980. Among their clients were McGraw Hill Publishing, Inc., Time, Inc., International Television Inc., CBS and NBC. Before moving to Tucson in 1987, she lived in Delray Beach, FL. She is survived by her husband, Roy H. Roth; a son, Richard Roth and his wife Mary of Fairfield, CT; a daughter, Ilene Froelich and her husband Warren of San Diego, CA; and four grandchildren. ANDERSON, Esther Lee. went to be with the Lord on January 31, 1996. Born in Amory, MS on April 1, 1908 and with her husband, Roy, spent their career in the U.S. Indian Service in Parker, Phoenix and on Indian Reservations in the Western United States. Survived by her sister, Judy Nash of Yucca Valley, CA; and fours sons, Ben, Jack, and Gene of Tucson and Jerry of Phoenix. Survivors include 15 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She said “All the earthly possessions I have are all very small, but there is an abundance of love I can leave you.’ Burial will be in Phoenix at the Greenwood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, 719 N. 27th Ave., at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 1996. Graveside services will be conducted by her grandson, Ky Anderson, Minister.
BLACKBURN, Alan G., 87, of Mesa, AZ died Wednesday, January 31, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Blackburn; 11 nieces and nephews; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Irene McIntire. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 1996 at First United Methodist Church, 15 E. 1st Ave., Mesa. Mr. Blackburn lived in Tucson from 1947-1993. He worked for approximately 20 years with the Desert Museum as a plant curator. He developed Waterstreet development at the Museum and was an expert in the field of Cacti with specialty in grafting varieties of Cacti. He was one of the founding principals of Tucson Cactus Club and held office in the club. As curator, people came from England, France and Spain to meet with him. Arrangements handled by Melcher’s Chapel of the Roses.

HERRERA, Edward, of Tucson, born June 26, 1928, passed away January 31, 1996. Survived by his daughters, Diane Schwisow, Cottonwood, AZ, Rachel (Ildefonso) Leyva, Phoenix, AZ, Patricia Herrera, Tucson, AZ., M. Teresa Herrera, Esq., Tustin, CA; sons, Edward, Jr. (Betty Nario), Chandler, AZ and Steve (Barbara) Herrera, Alexandria, VA; and 12 grandchildren. Also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Manual Herrera II. He was employed by Tucson Newspapers for 20 years. Retired from Pima County Highway Dept. in 1990, after 20 years of service. He was truly loved by many and will be dearly missed. GLADDEN, Imogene Brittain, born October 10, 1908, in Lyndon, KS, died February 1, 1996, at her home in Tucson, AZ. After spending her early childhood in Kansas, her family moved first to Colorado and then to Marana, AZ in 1918. She graduated from Marana High School in 1926 and was married on October 7, 1926 to Dale Gladden. They moved to Coolidge, AZ in 1932 and then back to Marana in 1943 where they established their cotton farm. After the death of her husband in 1970, she moved to Tucson. She is survived by sister, Mary Secord; brother, H.W.“Buddy’ Brittain; two sons, Stanley and Robert Dale Jr; four grandchildren, John William, Stanley Dale, Christa Marie, Robert Dale III; and five great-grandchildren. KALINOSKI, Frank F., age 78, a 50 year resident of Tucson, was called home on February 3, 1996. Born October 14, 1917 in Westmoreland, PA. Mr. Kalinoski was an army veteran of WWII. He received four battle stars for Central Europe, Ardennes, Northern France and Rhineland. He was also a member of the Moose and Elks. Survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Joseph) Membrilla and Patricia (John) Parrin; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. SHIPP, James Hooper (Jim), 72, departed this life February 3, 1996. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Liz; their children, James B. (Skip), and Melisa and her husband, Tim Clayton. His beloved grandchildren, Patrick (Jamie) Shipp of Cheyenne, WY, Matthew and Christa Clayton of Tucson, and great-grandchild, Cody Lane Shipp. Mother-in-law, Vera Anderson. He is also survived by brother, Clyde (Frances) Shipp; and sister, Betty Jean (Bob) Matthews of Texarkana, TX; four nieces and nephews all of Texarkana. Jim served his country proudly, joining the Navy at age 17. He was aboard the USS Plunkett, a destroyer when it was hit by a German bomb in January 1943. Following WWII he was in the Navy reserve, and was recalled to active duty during the Korean War. He retired after 32 years with ATandT. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway, Tucson, AZ. The Reverend Hal Cowart officiating.
