OLSON, Johanna (Hannah), died January 28, 1996. Life long member of the Eastern Star, a resident of Tucson since 1950. Hannah was born in the town of Alto, Wisconsin January 16, 1899. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence R. Olson; survived by a son, Russell (Ole) Olson and wife Jean; three grandchildren, Lars Eric Stevens, Peter Bjorn Stevens, both of Tucson and Gwyneth Kirsten Stevens of San Diego; three great-grandchildren, Aaron Bjorn Olson, Erik Mercader Stevens and Mialou Margaret Stevens. A Memorial will be held Saturday, February 3, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. in Koch Chapel, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 1949 E. Helen St., with the Reverend Paul Baer officiating. SHULTZ, Bernard, age 86, of Tucson, died January 29, 1996. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lucile; one daughter, Yvonne (Duane) Cunningham; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. He is also survived by stepdaughter, Sharon (John) Kearns; and step-granddaughter, Lindsay. Mr. Shultz was a member of the Road Runners Club. SPROCK, Delores P., died January 30, 1996. In loving memory of our mother, who suffered the complications of diabetes for several years, stoically and with humor and acceptance going literally from bad to worse, finally living with various infections, failing eyesight, heart, liver and kidneys, and experiencing dialysis three times a week. She died in the compassionate care of the good people at Villa Maria when her heart failed for the last time Tuesday morning. Delores was a Tucson resident for nearly 40 years. In the past she had worked for Ray Manley Commercial Photography, and had also worked as a switchboard operator and secretary. She loved to read and work on her needlework. She moved to Tucson when her ex-husband was transferred here by the Air Force. Delores is survived by her two daughters, Judith Ann Ferguson of Sierra Vista, and Gail Sprock of Tucson/Green Valley. She is also survived by her sister, Roberta Schweizer of Hastings, NY, and her mother, Mary Pearl Bryan of NY. As she wised, there will be no services. TAYLOR, James F., 37, of Tucson, was killed an accident on I-10, on Saturday, January 27, 1996. Survived by his wife of 17 years, Betty Taylor of Tucson; one daughter, Jennifer (age 15); and two sons, James II (Jimmy-age 13) and Joshua (age 12). Also survived by father and stepmother, Lawrence and Mary Taylor of Phoenix; his mother, Joan Taylor of Tucson; one brother, Bruce Taylor of Phoenix; and two sisters, Kathy Taylor and Kay Caldwell, both of Tucson. A Memorial Service to honor him will be held on Friday, February 2 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 215 E. 5th St., followed by a gathering. James F. Taylor proudly served in the US Army from January 1977 through October 1987.
WEST, Edith “Mac’, 86, of Tucson, died January 29, 1996. Survivors include daughter, Truda (Mel) Steckler of AL; son, Christopher Harris of NJ; grandsons, Max and Fritz Steckler. Mrs. West was educated in England and Belgium in the late 1930's; was a member of the Olympic Hockey team. She taught both in England and in Short Hills, NJ Country Day School. Mrs. West was also a member of Daughters of the British Empire and Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. BRIGGS, Clark Habbard, born December 9, 1909 in Joplin, MO, died January 30, 1996 in Tucson, AZ. Survivors: daughters, Terry Lu Anderson (Wayne) of McMinnville, OR and Laura Lynn Briggs of Chino Valley, AZ; sons, David Briggs of Phoenix, AZ and RobinJon Briggs of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Tieg Briggs of Chino Valley, AZ, Darry Clark Briggs of Tacoma, WA, Valerie Gotti (John) of OR, Chrissy Rodriguez (Carlos) of TX and Megan Marie, Sage Marie and Samuel R. G. Briggs of Tucson, AZ; five great-grandchildren; nieces, Marion Lewis and Tita Clark of WV; nephews, Clark and John Denham of WV; eight great-nephews and nieces. Clark grew up in Washington, D.C. He served in the Naval Reserves and later in the Army during WWII. Clark and his wife, Mamie-Lu (predeceased) relocated to the Phoenix area at the end of war. Clark was a weather reporter for the Sky Harbor airport when it was a one hangar airport. He worked as a flight instructor and eventually retired from the City of Phoenix as a civil engineer. We will all miss our dear friend, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle but, as Clark believed, we look forward to a resurrection of our loved ones back to life on a peaceful earth when no one will get sick and die as promised by our loving God Jehovah. We wish to express our condolences to his many friends that have enriched his life throughout the years. It is also our wish that each one of us continue to express love and kindness to those with Alzheimer’s and to continue to “honor your father and your mother’. CAMPBELL, Eugene Thomas, age 79, a 51 year resident of Tucson, passed away January 23, 1996. Born July 28, 1916 in Confluence, KY. Mr. Campbell was an Army Veteran of World War II. A graduate of Pikeville Academy, KY and University of Arizona. He was a teacher for T.U.S.D. and taught at Mission View School and Van Buskirk Elementary. He was a member of the Church of the Painted Hills. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Jean; brother, Clayborne (Virginia) Campbell of WV; sister, Ellen (James) Eversole of IN; five nieces; one nephew. Richard lived in retirement for 12 years in Phoenix, AZ prior to his move to Tucson, AZ.
