BEATY, Mary Owen, former long time resident of El Paso, TX, passed away on December 2, 1995 at Tucson Mountain Home, where she had resided for the past several years. Her family is grateful for the loving care provided by Ms. Mininger and her staff at the home. Preceding Mrs. Beaty in death were her devoted husband, Robert, her parents, a brother Marmion McCord, and a sister, Erma E. Smith of Mesa, AZ. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Frances Griffiths of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Leslie O. Roberts and her daughter Claire of Henderson, TX and Jeffery T. Griffiths of Austin, TX. Other survivors are a niece, Elizabeth Ann Whitelaw of Tempe, AZ; Mr. Beaty’s children, Alice Brewster of Wichita, KS, Margaret Scofield and David Beaty of Tucson; and five step-grandchildren. Mrs. Beaty was a member of St. James Methodist Church in Tucson. Burial Services will be held at Restlawn Cemetery in El Paso, TX on February 9, 1996. Memorials may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.

BLACK, John Cason, Jr., 29, of Tucson and Whittier, CA, died January 25, 1996. Beloved son of Jo Ann Lage Black and John C. Black, deceased. Brother of Bonnie Monroe and Debbie Doran, both of CA. There will be no memorial service. Private family service only. Contributions may be made to Carondelet Hospice.

BONILLAS, Thelma M., 87, of Tucson, passed away January 28, 1996. She is survived by son, Daniel (Lucinda) Bonillas; sister, Vera Heinbockle; and grandchildren, Yvette (Martin) Bejarano, Danny and Melissa Bonillas. There will be a Memorial Mass held on Wednesday, January 31, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. St. John’s Church. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

CAMPBELL, Eugene Thomas, age 79, a 51 year resident of Tucson, passed away January 23, 1996. Born July 28, 1916 in Confluence, KY. Mr. Campbell was an Army Veteran of World War II. A graduate of Pikeville Academy, KY and University of Arizona. He was a teacher for T.U.S.D. and taught at Mission View School and Van Buskirk Elementary. He was a member of the Church of the Painted Hills. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Jean; brother, Clayborne (Virginia) Campbell of WV; sister, Ellen (James) Eversole of IN; five nieces; one nephew. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 1996 at Campana Del Rio, 1550 E. River Rd. Rev. David Cutting officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Painted Hills Building Fund, 3295 W. Speedway Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85745-1652. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

GASTON, Mary T., 64, of Tucson, born January 8, 1932, passed away January 27, 1996. Mary Theresa was a Tucson native and member of one of Tucsons pioneer families. Her grandparents, Manuel and Santos Sotomayor were homesteaders along the Rillito River in what is now known as northwest Tucson. She was preceded in death by parents, Hortencia (Sotomayor) and Arnulfo Monteverde. She is survived by husband, Paul M. Gaston; sons, Michael (Connie), David (Darcy), James (Martha), Kevin (Mary); and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by many relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 1996 at St. Augustine Cathedral from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday, February 1, 1996 at St. Augustine Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. The family suggests donations be made to the St. Augustine Cathedral Maintenance Fund. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

HARRISON, Carol Ann, 51, of Tucson, died January 27, 1996. Survivors included husband, William of Tucson; parents, Clay and Pearl Blackwelder of Golden Shores, AZ; son, Joseph Harrison of Tucson; daughter, Jeanie Harrison of San Francisco, CA, Cheryl (Michael) Crook of Tucson; sister, Katherine (Steve) Fazio of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren and one step grandchild. Friends may call ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 1996 with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1950 W. JACOBSON, Joyce M., passed away on January 28, 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. Jacobson. She is survived by a stepson, Ralph E. Jacobson and wife Ora Rae; niece, Margaret Robinson of Wadena, MN; nephews, L. S. Briggs of Carbondale, IL and Scott Briggs of Dallas, TX. Mrs. Jacobson has resided in Tucson for the past 26 years. She was a member of Tucson Baptist Temple. Funeral Services will be held at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), Thursday, February 1, 1996 at 10:00 a.m., officiating will be Dr. Louis W. Johnson, Tucson Baptist Temple. Entombment will follow at the South Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. KNOX, Margaret M., 71 years old, died Friday, January 29, 1996. She was a 48 year resident of Arizona. Survivors include husband, Phillip; sister, Ernesteen (Arvid) Steninger of Tucson; son, James (Elizabeth) Knox of Phoenix; sister, Rachel (Robert) Leverett of MI; two nieces, two nephews; grandchildren, Hannah and Jessica Knox. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 1996 at Grace Chapel, 6180 E. Pima, with Rev. Jim Brunner.

KRAMAR, Edward Francis, 80, of Scottsdale, AZ died January 27, 1996. SCOTT, Clifford H., 82, died Sunday, January 28, 1996. Survived by wife, Irene; daughters, Patricia A. Scott, Virginia L. (Robert J.) Dumm, Linda J. Butler and Donna R. (Jerome L.) Smith; son, William Randall (Janice) Scott; 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 1996 at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. with Fr. Harry Ledwith officiating.

SHIRK, Minor S., 77, of Sonoita, died Thursday, January 25, 1996, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson, AZ. He had been a resident of Arizona since 1948. Mr. Shirk was born November 20, 1918, in Watford City, ND to William St. Clair and Henrietta (Aaker) Shirk. He served as an officer during World War II, retiring from the Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel. He was a prominent public accountant, civic and business leader in Chandler, AZ where he lived for 35 years. As president of the National Association of Public Accountants and representative on the advisory committee for the Internal Revenue Service, he served his occupation nationally. Minor and Georgia retired to Sonoita eight years ago, where he continued to serve his community. He is survived by his beloved wife, Georgia (Slater) Shirk of Sonoita; three children, Jeanne, Tom and Bill; and three grandchildren, Spencer, Courtney and Jason. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Minor S. Shirk, to SEESI, 3173 Hwy 83, Sonoita, AZ 85637. Arrangements by Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 S. VALENCIA, Aurelio E., 32, of Tucson, passed away January 25, 1996. Preceded in death by his father, Arnulfo C. Valencia. Survived by mother, Rosa Valencia; sisters, Guadalupe (Ron Wampler) Valencia, Eva Lucia Valencia; brothers, Arnulfo E. (Debra) Valencia, Alfonso E. Valencia; also survived by his loving companion, Maria Guadalupe Rosas; godfather of Reyes Valencia, Ignacio Pallanes and Stephanie Marisel Mendez; uncle to Vanesa Michelle Valencia and Nicole Wampler. He was an active member of the U.S. Border Patrol and former U. S. Marine. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 1996 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Cruz Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. COVEY, Philip A., 78, of Tucson, died January 27, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Jewell and friends, Patrick and Jan Hogan. Services will be private. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

DABLOW, Judge John F., A remarkable man…passed away January 25, 1996. We celebrate his life as a loving husband, wonderful father, Grandfather extra-ordinaire, Judge, County Attorney, and a man who loved and served his country.
The Judge lived a full, rewarding life, devoting countless hours to his Minnesota, the Memorial Hospital, Five County Mental Health Center, the Rural Electric Cooperatives and his Masonic organizations, Green Valley Coordinating Council and Pima County Merit Commission.
