Warren; son, Ira Glenn Warren; grandchildren, Kelley R. Warren and Christopher J. Warren, all of Tucson; two brothers and two sisters, all of MO. Funeral Services Thursday 10:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY with Rev. Ronald Burnett officiating. Interment to follow Evergreen Cemetery. WHEELER, Winston, 94, of Garden Plain, KS, died January 21, 1996. He is survived by son, Ross Wheeler of Wichita, KS; daughter, Mary Floyd of Hutchinson, KS; five grandchildren and six-great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the Nature Conservancy, 820 SE Quincy, Topeka, KS 66612-1158. The arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY.

WISE, Leona Grace, long-time Tucson resident, born in Paris, TX in 1902, moved to Tucson in 1926 where she lived until 1985, passed away on January 20, 1996 in Paulsbo, WA. Long-time member of First Christian Church of Tucson and a member of Eastern Star for 75 years. She is survived by a sister, Bess Benz of Tucson; and Rufus Walter Taylor Jr., of Klamath Falls, OR; and by two daughters, Grace Margaret Judson of Tucson and Jane Ellen Gross of Paulsbo, WA; also survived by seven grandchildren, Jeanne Lyn Johnson, Deborah C. J. Stadle, Cheryl Denise Garr, Keith Leonard Judson, Katherine Grace Judson, Gary Lee Gross, Kamara Rebecca Judson; and 12 great-grandchildren; Laureen, Justin, Jessica, Andrew, Seth, Melinda, Julia, Jaime, Taylor, Amber, Luke and Russell. Memorial Services will be held at First Christian Church, Tucson, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 27, followed by Internment at East Lawn Cemetery.

BROWN, Fred C., went to be with the Lord on January 19, 1996. Survived by loving and devoted wife, Carmelita; children, Fred (Amanda), Robert, Veronica; sister, Caroline Jacobs. Also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Fred will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. He had a great sense of humor. He loved hunting and fishing. After serving five years in the Armed Forces he went to work at Davis Monthan Air Base as an aircraft inspector. He retired after 32 years in 1977. The family requests that donations be made in his memory to Carondelet Hospice Service at St. Josephs Hospital, the American Cancer Society and the St. Augustine Cathedral Maintenance fund. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 1996 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. GOMEZ, Helen Avelarde, 75, of Tucson, passed away January 19, 1996. Survived by sister, Carmen (Juan) Valenzuela; daughters, Rosa Gomez, Remie (Manuel) Escamilla, Angie Bejarano, Maria Elena (Alejandro) Tapia, Ricarda (Albert) Orta, Dolores (Robert) Robles; sons, Ernesto (Jeannie) Gomez, Augustine (Jeannie), Secundino Jr. (Angela) Gomez, all from Tucson. Also survived by 30 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 1996 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Vesper service on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at Tucson Mortuary. Interment to follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

NEAR, Robert E. “Bob’, died January 18 after a brave battle against cancer. Survived by his wife, Kim; and young son, Jayson. Also survived by six adult children, sons, Richard, Daniel, Brian, Bill, Greg; and daughter, Jan Litchfield. Also surviving is a sister, Lawaine Babinec. Bob was born March, 1926 in Shelby, MI, and at an early age chose toserved his country by joining the Armed Services with duty in the US Marines and Army. He proudly served for 22 years achieving the rank of Master Sargeant. His service assignments included duty in Okinawa, Europe and the Far East. He quickly earned a reputation as an expert in the electronics and command communications field. While stationed at Ft. Huachuca he retired from the army and served for an additional 18 years as a civil servant. Bob’s many talents included an exceptional ability as a carpenter and mason; a skill he shared with his friends. His hobbies included a life long love for the sport of fishing. At the time of death Bob was still serving his country as a lifetime volunteer member of the Retired Activities Office DMAFB. Bob will be deeply missed by family, comrades and friends. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. With services at DMAFB Chapel Tuesday the 23rd at 2:00. Interment will be at Ft. Huachuca. Graveside on the 24th at 1:00. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice, Tucson, in lieu of flowers.

ROMO, Edgar A. D.D.S., 85, of Tucson, died on January 16, 1996. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Irene. He is survived by children, Shirley I. Kranicz of Scottsdale, AZ, Edgar A. (Janice) Romo Jr. of Tucson, Andrew L. (Elaina) Romo of Tucson; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Evangeline Urquides of Tucson, Genevieve Deleski of Yuca Valley, CA. He was a 6th Generation Tucsonian. Graduated Washington University, Class of 1934. Dr. Romo practiced in Tucson for over 57 years. He was a life member of Los Descendientes Del Presido De Tucson, Elks Lodge #385, American Dental Association and Arizona Dental Association. Private Services were held. Memorial donations may be made to the Newman Foundation, 1615 E. 2nd St. Tucson, 85719. Arrangements by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., 327-6341.

STOREY, Elvin E. Rev., 70, went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 1996. He was born March 3, 1925 in Lowell, MI to Louland and Lila Storey who preceded him in death. Elvin was a graduate of Grand Rapids Baptist Bible Institute in 1952. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ruth Storey. They both served together as missionaries under Continental Baptist Missions for 39 years. An army veteran of World War II, Elvin was awarded 4 Battle Stars on an Eto Ribbon for Normandy, Brittany, Rhineland and central Europe. He is survived by his daughter, Janet (Bob) Lefevre; sons, Roger (Cindy) Storey, Ron Storey and Terry (Pam) Storey; three grandchildren, Megan, Jeffrey and Jeremy. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 1995 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL. Rev. Bill Bowler of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Reverend Storey’s family requested, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Terry Storey Insulin Pump Fund, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 12580, Tucson, AZ 85732 (Broadway and Swan Branch).

AHRENDT, Doris E., 76, of Tucson, died Saturday, January 20, 1996.
Survived by husband, Charles; sons, James (Lois), Larry (Trish) of Tucson and Terry (Susie) of TX; daughter, Judy (Gary) Fleming of Tucson; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

BREMOND, Comfort S., 74 years old, died Sunday, January 21, 1996 in Tucson. Survived by husband, Howard Bremond of Tucson, AZ; one son, Gene Jones of Tucson; three daughters, Suzy Hank, Terry Jones and Barbie Butler, all of Tucson; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Memorial Services for Mrs. Bremond will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 25 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway.

CORRAL, Joseph “Joe’, 82, of Tucson, passed away January 21, 1996. Leaving a loving family: wife, Guadalupe C. Corral; son, Raymond Corral; sister, Amanda Broadhurst; brother, Harold Corral; grandchildren, Josephine and Raymond Corral, Jr., Kathrine (Frank) Castro; and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Michael Castro, trusted friend, Octavio Villanueva and former daughter-in-law, Patricia Corral. Joe was a retired Asst. Superintendent for Pacific Fruit Express with over 40 years of Railroad Service. He also leaves behind countless friends and adoring relatives. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 26, 1996 at 7:30 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. HALPERN, Elsie M., 76, of Tucson, died January 22, 1996. Survived by husband of 47 years, Irving M. “Hal’ Halpern of Tucson; sons, Britt M. and Kevin M. Halpern, both of Tucson; grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Halpern, both of Phoenix. Predeceased in death by daughter, Elizabeth and son, Brian. Elsie was a gracious and quiet lady, loved people and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to travel and did so extensively during her husband’s military career, was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #52, Sierra Vista; Past President of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #7, Tucson and very much enjoyed and supported her husband’s activities in the American Legion and the Forty and Eight. Graveside Services Friday 1:00 p.m. Evergreen Cemetery with Chaplain Harry Wineinger officiating. Friends may call Thursday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile. JEFFUS, Amye O., 85, died January 22, 1996. Born December 23, 1910 in Van Zandt County, Texas. Preceded in death by husband of 48 years, L. V. Jeffus and son, James E. Jeffus. Resident of Texas and Arkansas before moving to Arizona in 1980. Owner of several businesses before retirement, volunteer of St. Joseph’s Auxiliary, Tucson for 10 years. Survived by son, Robert; brothers, J. W. and Raymond Mann; grandchildren, Debra, Christopher, Sharon and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Sarah, Michael, Katelyn and Melina. Private services were held. Memorial donations may be made to Devon Gables Resident Activities Fund, Devon Gables Health Care Center, 6150 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712. LYMAN, Greta Mae, was called to her heavenly home on January 22, 1996. She was born on March 29, 1917 in Hamilton, Illinois. She came to Tucson in February, 1940. She was preceded in death by husbands, William Grant of Illinois and James Bivens of Arizona. She is survived by her five children, Dorothy (Bill) Rauh of Tucson, Peggy (George) Bradshaw of Phoenix, David (Jacque) Bivens of Yuma, Thomas Bivens of Tucson and Jennifer (David) Lindsey of Blacksburg, Virginia; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; also surviving are her brothers, Lloyd Arnold of Virginia and Donald Arnold of Phoenix; and sister, Evelyn Harding of Illinois. Greta worked for many years as a bookkeeper-receptionist for the late Dr. E. P. Waddell of Tucson. She was an accomplished writer and published poetess. She was a long-time member of Sunrise Chapel and served as an officer for its Women’s Guild for several years. Visitation will be at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., on Wednesday, January 24, 1996 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at Sunrise Chapel, 8421 E. Wrightstown Road, on Thursday, January 25, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Frank Rose officiating. Remembrances may be made to either Sunrise Chapel or the Diabetes Foundation.

MCCABE, Theodore, Jr., of Tucson, died January 13, 1996. Survivors include: stepdaughter, Roberta Beauchamp of Dahlongea, GA; stepson, William R. Taylor of Leavenworth, KS; sister, Lorene Proter of Kennewick, WA; as well as Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Dunn of Tucson. Mr. McCabe was a former correctional officer at Lansing State Prison before moving to Tucson in 1976. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia McCabe in 1989. Burial with military honors has already taken place. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

MOXHAM, Donald F., 82, of Tucson, died January 20, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Marilyn Moxham of CA; son, Don Moxham of Tucson; five grandchildren and one great-grandson, Colby. Mr. Moxham was preceded in death by a son, Bryant in 1992. He was a member of Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. Services will be private. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.
