MARIANI, Rosetta, 69, of Tucson, died 29 December, 1995. Born February 25, 1926 in Braccigliano, Italy. Rose became ill while visiting her daughter, Nancy, in Killeen, TX, and ultimately, died of congestive heart failure. Survived by three children, Linda and husband, Herb, of Kingston, WA, Guido of San Diego, CA, and Nancy and husband, Jeff if Killeen, TX; a grandson, Anthony; three granddaughters, Katrina, Halley, and Jennifer Rose; a brother, Ralph D’Ascoli of Tucson; several other relatives, nieces, and nephews and many long time friends from throughout the United States. For nearly 50 years Rose was a resident of Tucson where she enjoyed a distinguished business career within the banking, retail, and real estate industry throughout southern AZ. Of exceptional strength and resolve, Rose will be remembered as a courageous lady who, undaunted by life’s many challenges, remained a wonderful mother to us all. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave. A Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, 3 January, at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, 4 January, at Elizabeth Anne Seton Church, on Shannon Rd. Interment will immediately follow in Holy Hope Cemetery.

REYNOLDS, Edda Belle, 68 years old, died Friday, December 29, 1995. She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Judy) and George (Karen) Gillespie of Tucson; daughter, Diana Beeson of CA; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild. Edda enjoyed bowling all her life. She worked for Sears many years. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Service will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL.

SALZBRENNER, Gabriel Patrick, infant, returned to our Father in Heaven Thursday, December 28, 1995. Survivors include parents, Anne Rumps and Bill Salzbrenner; brother, Evan Salzbrenner; sister, Paige Salzbrenner; grandparents, Jack and Carmen Rumps; grandmother, Nena Salzbrenner and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial Services will be private.

VALENZUELA, Georgia R., 80, of Tucson, passed away December 30, 1995. Survived by daughters, Teresa (Jesus) Pina, Dora (Robert) Cuen, Carmen Diaz; son, Manuel (Maria) Valenzuela; sisters, Antonia Valencia, Anita Canez, Teresa Cruz; brother, Victor Rodriguez. Also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 1996 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (Center Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

BAKER, Robert B., 76, a resident of Tucson, died Friday, December 29, 1995. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth; numerous nieces and nephew from the Phoenix and San Diego areas and in Michigan. Memorial service will be 12:30 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 1996 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 4520 W. Ajo Way, with Pastor Jeffray Greene officiating. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Building Fund.

BRANDT, Leonard, 59, of Tucson, died December 31, 1995. He was a retired mobile home park owner. Len is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gail; siblings, Reuben (Arlene) and Vera (Bill) Mohr, both of WI; five nephews and eight nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Len was Treasurer of his church. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 1996. Funeral Services will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 1996 with Pastor Alan Eckert officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shepherd of the Hills Church, Brandt Memorial, 8799 N. Northern Ave., Tucson, AZ 85704.

BUSACKER, Viola I., born April 27, 1913, beloved wife of Carl W. and further survived by son, Bill of Denver; and daughter, Barbara of San Pedro, CA; granddaughter, Lori Lawrence (Steve); and great grandchild, Beau Lawrence of Freemont, CA. Further survived by brother, Albert Schneider (Mary) of Sun Lakes, AZ; sisters-in-law, Lynn Reineck of Tucson and Betty Wallace (John) of Palmyra, WI; and brother-in-law, Norman Knuth of Tucson; nephews, Phil Karrer (Yvonne), Randy Karrer (Rhonda) of Tucson; and numerous other nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Beloved by many.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

COLSON, Rosemary, 74, died January 1, 1996. Survived by daughter, Caryl Blackwell. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

COOPERMAN, Rose, 87, passed away January 1, 1996 in Oceanside, CA. Formerly of Tucson, AZ. She is survived by her daughters Nancy and Alicia of CA, brother Dr. Maurice Zee (Mavis) of Tucson and sister Beatrice Trop, San Diego, CA. Sisters-in-law Pearl Zee, San Diego, CA and Beulah Wolf (Bernard) of Chicago, IL. Remembrances to Temple Emanuel, 225 N. Country Club.

CORRON, Evelyn Holaway, 69, of Cochise, Arizona passed away Saturday, December 23, 1995. She was born July 18, 1926 in Tucson, Arizona. She is survived by her husband, Douglas R. Corron; son, John L. Stevens III; daughter, Jocelyn S. Hadfield; grandchildren, John L. Stevens IV, Justin Hadfield, Jason Hadfield, Jessica Hadfield; brothers, Robert Holaway, Roy Holaway; sisters, Norma Rose, Betty Brown and Mary Shook. She graduated from Amphitheater High School and L. A. County Hospital School of Nursing. She served as Director of School Health Services for the Amphitheater District for almost 20 years. She retired to Cochise, Arizona in 1975, where she and her husband built from raw land a small organic farm. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave.

DEVAULT, Robert Martin, 83, died Friday, December 29, 1995 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, Muriel Sutherland DeVault; his son, Dennis (Robyn) Robert DeVault of Bismarck, ND; daughter-in-law, Linda DeVault of Scottsdale; grandchildren, Brian Douglass DeVault of Flagstaff, AZ, Donald Martin DeVault of Mesa, AZ, Kimberly Jo DeVault of Tucson, and Aaron Vincent DeVault of Scottsdale, AZ. He was born in Kansas City, MO, August 17, 1912. Was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Martin DeVault and parents, Harry DeVault and Inez C. Wilson DeVault. He graduated from the University of Arizona where he was a charter member of Alpha Kappa Psi honorary fraternity, and a member of Delta Chi fraternity. He was in business in Craig, CO before serving in the US Army in WWII. After the war he worked with Eagle Picher Mining and was associated with several accounting firms. He was a life long member of the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants and retired from Elmer Fox Westheimer and Co. The Memorial Service will be held January 4, at 3:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Boys and Girls Club or the American Diabetes Society.

Warren L. Hertzog 15, of Tucson, died December 24, 1995. Son of Sheryl A. Chambers and Michael Chambers (predeceased). Step-son of Allan N. Phelan; grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Donald H. Payne and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Phelan, all of Tucson, Mr. and Mrs. David Sainz of Lancaster, PA. Funeral Service will be held at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, Saturday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave. (888-1111) Saturday, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

HICKMAN, Hazel 86. Born on September 9, 1909 in Phenix City, Alabama, died on December 31, 1995. Preceded in death by husband, John W. Hickman. Survived by daughters Dru Castro of Tucson, Arizona, Dorothy Hickman of Phenix City, Alabama, Mary Shirley (Glenn) of Chuckey, Tennessee, Odell Stevenson (Gilbert) of Naples, Florida, Bernice Sundy of Panama City, Florida, and Nancy Lowe (Ted) of Augusta, Georgia; 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. An angel on Earth has taken her place among the heavenly angels and all who knew and loved her will surely have in Heaven a guardian angel to guide and protect them in death as she always did in life. Funeral arrangements by COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, Phenix City, Alabama.

HUGHES, Clair V. “Jim’, was born May 24, 1903 near Salem, MO and went to be with the Lord on December 31, 1995. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Zenia Mae; and a brother, Burton of Dallas, TX. His sister, Mildred preceded him in death. Jim and Zenia owned and operated the Arizona Sunshine School on the corner of Pima and Craycroft. The school taught children from nursery age through the 8th grade. Mr. Hughes served as Secretary of the Southern Arizona Independent Schools Association and was a past President of the Independent Schools Association of Arizona. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of Westerner International, an organization of clubs interested in the history of the American West. Jim was a past President of the Tucson Stamp Club and the Catalina Rotary, where he had 32 consecutive years of perfect attendance. He was also an active member of the B.P.O.E. C.V. Hughes was a long time member of the Tucson Reformed Church, serving as Elder and Clerk of the Consistory. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), Thursday, January 4, 1996 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Friday, January 5, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Tucson Reformed Church, 5005 E. Winsett, Sunday, January 7 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tucson Reformed Church Memorial Fund.

JOHNSTON, Robert J., Sr., 78, passed away January 1, 1996. Proceeded in death by wife, Carmen M. Johnston. Survived by daughters, Mary Jane (Jonathan) Romero, Lorraine Scheid and Gerrie (Robert) Castro; son, Robert J. (Becky) Johnson, Jr.; sisters, Della Mildrowe, Grace (Jr.) Egge and Donna (Bill) Foote; brother, Frank (Doretta) Johnston; nine grandchildren, Anna, Pauline, Jonathan Jr., Christy, Kevin Jr., Alegra, Krystal, Robert and Leonie; and 13 great-grandchildren. KEENER, Beatrice Y., 90, of Tucson, formerly of OH, died December 15, 1995. She was born in Sedro Wooley, WA on September 6, 1905. She is survived by son, John W. Keener (Gail) of Massillon, OH; daughter, Betty J. High (Duane) of Tucson; four granddaughters; three grandsons; brothers, Johnny Young of Athens, GA, Ken Young (Carol) of Stream, IL and Ed Young of Lubbock, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee A. Keener and her son, Norman. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Memorial Services will be held at St. James United Methodist Church, 3255 N. Campbell Ave., January 6, 1996, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Roper officiating. LEVY, Juanita C., 79, of Tucson, died Monday, January 1, 1996. She is survived by her sons, Johnny M. Smith, M. Burton Levy; grandchildren, E. LOPEZ, Barnabe “Barney’, 50, of Tucson, passed away December 31, 1995. Proceeded in death by Ernest Q. Lopez. Survived by mother, Alice Brichta Lopez; daughter, Christina Lopez; sisters, Joanna Lopez, Genevieve (Ernie) Gallardo; brothers, Ernie B. (Teri) and Father Alfred B. Lopez; also survived by niece; Rebecca Vidal; and nephews, Eddie Vidal and Andrew Gallardo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 1996 at TUCSON MORTUARY, North Chapel, 204 S. MEHL, Wayne M., 81, died January 1, 1996. A resident of Tucson since 1959. Born March 14, 1914 at Hornick, IA. Survived by wife of 54 years, Evelyn; daughters, Marilyn (James) Fogltance of Tucson, Marsha (Tim) Sandin of Saudi Arabia; son, Douglas (Theresa) Mehl of San Francisco; five grandchildren, Debby, B.J., Marc, Courtney, and Kate; one great grandson, Donny; sisters, Ardyce Lechner of Sioux City, IA, Alice Carson of New Port Richey, FL; brother, Boyd Mehl of Sioux City, IA. Preceded in death by a sister, Mary and brothers, Eugene, Ralph and Dwight. Mr. Mehl served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and the Korean War and is a member of Casa Adobes Baptist Church.
