WILSON, Jamie Lynn (nee Lukanuski), 35 years of age, died on the evening of December 26, 1995 after a short illness. Jamie was a delightful, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to all that knew her and we are greatly saddened by her passing. Jamie was born on April 24, 1960 in Tacoma, WA and then moved with the family to Oregon and Montana before settling in Douglas, AZ in 1965. She has been a Tucson resident since 1972, attending Magee Middle School and Sahuaro High School. Jamie led an active life in Arizona and enjoyed camping, boating and fishing with her family and friends. She was active in the events of her east side neighborhood and schools, and willingly gave her time and a caring, out going personality. Central to Jamie’s life was her family, husband of eight years, Keith; daughter Renee; and sons Christopher and Sean; parents, Janna and Jim Lukanuski; brother, Jeff Lukanuski and his wife Barbara and their children, Nicole, Bradley, Kristine, Janette and Eric; sister, Jill Lukanuski; and brother, Jon Lukanuski; aunt Terri Phillips and grandfather W.K. Phillips; mother- and father-in-law, June and Dale Hanner; brother-in-law, Mark; sister-in-law, Marilyn and her children, Angelique and Christine, and sister-in-law Delilah. Jamie will be missed by all of us, and a very important part of our lives will now be the fond memories of her life. A memorial mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Pius X on Saturday, December 30, 1995 at 1:30 p.m. The family profoundly thanks the medical staff at ICU East St. Joseph’s Hospital and especially Dr. Mike Coppolino for their extraordinary efforts and sympathetic care. YOCKEY, John “Jack’, was called home by God on December 25, 1995, after a long illness of pulmonary fibrosis and heart disease. Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Deloris. They would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on January 28, 1996. He is survived by his loving daughter, Jacalyn Lynch and beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and John David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anne and Harwood Yockey. Jack was Plant Manager of American Pharmaseal in Massillon, OH and Tucson for a total of 27 years, retiring in 1986. He was a World War II veteran, who proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Christ Church United Methodist. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who never stopped trying to overcome his severe illnesses. He was a special man and will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 1995 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with Pastor Tom Kiracofe of Christ Church United Methodist officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel, one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
BERTRAND, Betty D., age 84, of Green Valley, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware and Boynton Beach FL, died Monday, December 25, 1995 in FL. Mrs. Bertrand was a member of the Episcopal Church of St. Frances-In-The-Valley. She graduated Randolph Macon Women’s College, Lynchburg, VA “Class of ’34.’ Preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Jacobs in ’84. BOSSE, Mary Elizabeth 86, beloved friend, mother, and grandmother passed into peace at home surrounded by her family on December 27 in Tucson. Most loving mother of, Warren and Francene; loved mother-in-law of, Avice and Pete; most loved grandmother of, Susan, John, Debbie, Steve, Patty, Nancy, Michael and Carol; loving sister of, Nita; loving great-grandmother of six; cherished friend of, Heather, Sara, Blanton and countless others. She was born in Lager, WA on May 1, 1906 to John and Julia Grey. She was raised with two sisters and two brothers. Marrying at a young age she was blessed with two sons and a daughter. A good portion of her adult life was lived in the bay area in CA, where she raised her children. A working woman, Mary experienced a number of careers including real estate property management, real estate sales and in-home caregiver. In 1986, she moved to Tucson to be near her family, though she went on to create a larger family through her joy, good humor and caring. Mary always gave love, hope, and encouragement to those around her. She continued to do so after she was diagnosed with a diseased that eventually claimed her life. Even though her physical presence is no longer here, the gentle and loving spirit that comprised her soul is the enduring legacy to all her knew her. Instead of flowers, the family suggests that a gift of time or a monetary contribution be made to your favorite charity. JONES, Laura Charlotte Traweek, died of respiratory complications on December 26, 1995. Charlotte was born February 13, 1927 in Evanston, IL, the daughter of Rev. William Sihon Traweek and Jessie Laura McGaughey Traweek. Charlotte grew up in the Montana, and graduated from Lewistown High School. She attended Depaw University and the Birmingham Conservatory of Music, and graduated from Sacramento State University in 1952. Charlotte had a long and varied career in education, from a one room school in Bearpaw, MT to 36 years teaching mathematics in the schools of Sacramento. She also wrote a crossword puzzle series and designed children’s toys. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, University Women, the Sacramento Camelia Symphony, the Birmingham Southern Symphony, and the Methodist Church. Charlotte is survived by her husband, Ernie; and daughter, Constance of Tucson, AZ; and her son Stephen; daughter-in-law, Elisa; and grandsons, Sihon and Stuart of Kahaluu, HI. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 1995, in the Chapel at First Methodist Church, 915 E. Fourth Street, Tucson. KAHL, Vera L., 75, died December 25, 1995. Survived by her husband, John Kahl; sister-in-law, Henrietta Cantone of CA; niece, M adelyn Stemper of CA; many friends also survive. KANE, Robert “Rob’ James, Jr. went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 27, 1995. Rob was born on February 12, 1964 in MN. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Judy Kane; sisters, Peggy (Doug) Porter, Jeanie (David) Schimke, Penny (Scott) Bolander, Mary Kane, all of Tucson, Patty (Kent) McMullen of Wenatchee, WA; brother, David (Anne) Kane of Gilbert, AZ; grandmothers, Mabel Hanson of Tucson, Margaret Kane of Hasting, MN; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Rob’s family was very important to him, and the memories we share of his life will be cherished in our hearts forever. He was a dear son, loving brother and a Hall of Fame Uncle. He loved Golf, his work, music and life. Rob had been an employee at Rainbo Baking Co. for over ten years, where he held a number of positions in the sales department. Rob was diagnosed with a brain tumor in November, 1987. It was a long hard battle, but Rob was the victor. Jesus was the Light of Rob’s life and through his illness, God was glorified. LACEY, Elwin W., passed away on December 26, 1995. She was a resident of Tucson, AZ for approximately 42 years. Mrs. Lacey was the widow of Arthur T. Lacey (Col. Ret.). She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lorraine B. Lacey of Albany, NY; son-in-law, Howard Thomas Ware, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren, Howard Thomas Ware III of Newberry Port, MA, Cherie D. Ware of Seattle, WA, Richard Lacey of Nassau, NY, Marilouise Johnson of Renton, WA. Mrs. Lacey is additionally survived by 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lacey was born in New York, a fashion designer, and graduate of Barnard College. McCARTER, Dr. Elizabeth Davies, 84 years old, died on December 22, 1995. Dr. McCarter was born in Ohio to Thomas and Mary Bowers Davies on 10/01/11. She was preceded in death on September 8, 1995, by her husband, Dr. Robert McCarter (b. 1/01/01). Dr. Elizabeth was involved in a wide range of activities throughout her distinguished career including counseling at a Pennsylvania Juvenile penal institution, social work in Pittsburgh, PA, laboratory teaching at Margaret Morrison Carnegie College for Women, music instruction in her school and civic and church groups and teaching various science subjects in secondary schools. In her pursuit of knowledge about non-orthodox methods of healing, she was awarded a Doctor of Naturopathy Degree from Bernadean University and later obtained a Doctor of Divinity Degree. She and Dr. Robert were residents of Tucson for over twenty years and together founded the “Bionomics Health Research Institute, ’ later renamed the “McCarter Center for Advanced Health Studies.’ Her most important works were the correspondence courses she facilitated through their work which enabled students in over 40 countries to study the science and philosophy of natural hygiene. She wrote many articles and spoke on many occasions sharing her personal story about her battle for health and instructing on her findings in her extensive and world-wide research for the attainment of better health. She was active in the Natural Hygiene Society and was a mentor and friend to many, many people. She will be greatly missed and remembered with love, by her family, friends and students. A memorial service is planned for mid-January. Specifics will be announced in this paper. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Davies, who resides in Tucson.

SPHAR, Mary K., 78 years old, died December 26, 1995. She was a 50 year resident. Survivors are husband, James H. of Tucson; son, James (Diana); son, Don (Susan); three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was a mother, teacher and right hand for 57 years. Mary graduated from University of Illinois. She loved children and has educated and sent many of them into society bolstered by her wisdom. TALMADGE, Barbara (Robison) age 60, of Tucson, died December 26, 1995. Mrs. Talmadge was a Home Economics and Earth Science teacher and enjoyed nature, photography, reading, learning, gardening, geology and astronomy.
