UNDERHILL, Adna Heaton, 81, of Tucson, died December 21, 1995. He was a retired professor at the University of Arizona and a former Director of Outdoor Recreation with the U.S. Dept. of Interior. He is survived by his children, Lynn Underhill, Colorado Springs, CO, Pamela Underhill, Harpers Ferry, WV, Adna H. Underhill Jr., Grand Rapids, MI, Leslie Underhill Hendricks, Shawnee of Delaware, PA, John Underhill, Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Diana Sands, Thera Wadley, Lexi Underhill, Adam Underhill, Katelyn Hendricks, Jared Hendricks, Will Heaton Hendricks, Mark Tusing, Monica Silva, Nicholas Underhill; and two great grandchildren, Cameron Wadley and Landon Wadley. He was a member of Boone and Crockett, Trout Unlimited, Nature Conservancy, First Special Service Force, Dartmouth Alumni, American Fisheries Soc., and the Arizona Wildlife Society. Memorial Service will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. COCKERHAM, Edward Lee, 82, of Safford, died Saturday, December 23 at Tucson Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1913 in Italy, TX. He was employed as a miner for Phelps Dodge in Morenci until his retirement in 1973 when he moved to Safford. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Verva Denison Cockerham of Safford; a son, William of Phoenix; three daughters, Nancy Coon of OH, Brenda Marietti of Tucson, and Kathleen Birch of TX; four sisters and three brothers, as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 27, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Thatcher at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of DAVID’S SAFFORD FUNERAL HOME.
KLOPP, Charles Frederick, Lt. Col. U.S. Army (Retired), age 75, died December 23, 1995. Survived by wife of 53 years, Geraldine; children, Charles F. (Rosey) Klopp, Jr. of North Branch, MN, Barbara E. (Jay) Parker of Silverdale, WA, and Marcia L. (Robert) Bassler of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Amy Klopp Hall and Jessica Klopp of Stafford, VA, Nathan C. Klopp of N. Mankato, MN, Daniel J. Parker, Alison and Steven Bassler and twin great grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Hall; sister, June Luke of Riviera Beach, FL; and brother, Clarence R. (Edna) Klopp of Stuart, FL. Col. Klopp was born February 28, 1920 in Reading, PA, attended schools there, graduating from Reading High School in 1937. He entered the Army as a volunteer on December 11, 1941; served in WWII and Korea, receiving a Distinguished Service Medal from the Republic of Korea. Other assignments included Franco, Germany, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, California, and Kansas, completing 22 years of active duty and retiring at Ft. Huachuca in 1963. He and his family settled in Tucson in 1964. Civil Service employee at Davis Monthan AFB Aircraft and Storage Facility until second retirement in 1982. Member Tucson Lodge No. 4 F&AM, Tucson Lodge of Perfection (Scottish Rite), Sabbar Shrine Temple and Legion of Honor. He enjoyed golf and bowling until he finally lost his long valiant struggle with pulmonary emphysema. At the decedent’s request there will be no local memorial service. Burial at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Shrine Crippled Children’s Hospital, c/o Sabbar Shrine Temple of the Arizona Lung Association. NORIEGA, Monica Escarcega, 76, of Tucson born April 28, 1919 and passed away December 21, 1995.
Survived by her husband of 59 years, Raul N. Noriega; son, Ricardo E. Noriega; daughters, Yolanda (Ramon) Bazurto, Monica (Al) Navarrete, Aida (Johnny) Sanchez; sisters, Juvencia Munoz, Chelsa Rodriguez of Pirtleville, AZ, Maria Valadez of Los Angeles, CA.
Also survived by grandchildren, Ricardo Sanchez, Monica (Joe) Collins, Eliza (Mark) Sanchez, Lety Bazurto, Sonia Navarrete, Sabrina (Rene) Camacho, Johnny (Lupita) Sanchez, Carlos (Cindy) Sanchez, Ricardo Sanchez and the late Ramoncito N. Bazurto Jr.; great-grandchildren, Monique and Nicole Collins, Marco Sanchez Jr., Moniquita, Carlos Jr., Corina, Ana Lisa Sanchez, and Brianna Camacho.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 27, 1995 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Thursday December 26, 1995 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

COMITZ, Edward V. Comitz, age 70, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Christmas morning knowing the love of his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pauline; daughters, Margie Comitz Johnson (Tom) and Thea Comitz Meyer (Scott); son, Edward Comitz; granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson; and grandsons, Timmy Johnson, Geno Meyer and Bryan Meyer. In 1953, Ed moved with his family to Tucson, where he opened the Studebaker/Mercedes Benz dealership. He made numerous close friends and was incredibly dedicated to his family. In particular, Ed was known for his generosity and selfless spirit. Services to be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd., Friday, December 29th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
