HOLMES, Virginia M. On November 16, 1995 devoted wife of Lawrence E. Holmes and beloved mother of Gregory Holmes died peacefully in her sleep. Mrs. Holmes, born and raised in Fluvanna County, VA, worked 30 years for the state department in Washington D.C. before retiring in Tucson in 1971. Her loving memory will remain with us always.

STODDARD, Marc Lyle, 67, of Tucson, passed over November 17, 1995. Marc was a Korean veteran having served in the USAF, and was an active participant in the Baha’i Faith. Survived by daughter, Linda (Dennis) Gintz of Tucson; sons, Kim (Suzanne) Stoddard of IA, and Kevin Stoddard of Tempe; and their mother Cheryl Stoddard of Tucson; grandchildren, Jason, Keisha, Neil, Kevin, Kody, and Kaci. FRITSCH, Jon E., 57, owner of The Tubac House in Tubac, AZ, was born in Rockford, IL on April 10, 1938. He died of cancer on November 14, 1995 in Tubac, AZ. He was predeceased by his father Emery and brother Lee Fritsch. He is survived by his mother, Lois E. Fritsch of Tubac. FROHLING, Belinda Payne, an active hospice volunteer in Tucson and Southampton, NY, passed away in Tucson, AZ on November 13, 1995. She was 58 years old. Mrs. Frohling was born in Pine Orchard, CT, attended Prospect Hill School on The Yale Campus and graduated from Vassar College. She received a Masters Degree from the University of Arizona in Management Information Systems in addition to graduating from the Karl Eller Entrepreneurial School. She was an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. In her first years out of Vassar she was employed by Goodson and Toddman as a trial contestant for prospective new quiz shows. Professionally she worked for both Honeywell and NCR starting in the infancy of the computer industry in a number of capacities until she retired. She was devoted, loving and spiritual leader to her mother, daughter, step-children and husband. She is the first life-time member of the Tucson Business Woman’s Association, a past member of the Vestry of St. Philips in the Hills and past president of the Vassar Club of Tucson. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Pope and brother, Tobias. She is survived by her mother, Rebecca Mason; her daughter, Rebecca Downes Payne, both of Tucson; her step-children, Laura Frohling of Naples, FL, Matthew Frohling of New York City, Edward S. Frohling, Jr., of Tucson; and her husband, Edward S. Frohling. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Philips in the Hills in Tucson at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 1995. Ruth E. Rainey, Duke, Schill 101 years old Our loving memories are for our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Friend of Ruth E. Rainey, Duke, Schill as Funeral Services were held on Friday, November 10, 1995 at Richardson’s Benson Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. Ruth was born to Samuel W. Rainey and Annie Miller on December 12, 1893 in Little Rock, AR as their 5th daughter. She was loved and cherished by her Methodist preacher father and mother. She grew to become a very beautiful and self willed successful business woman. After a short marriage ended with Thomas Duke ended she was able to raise her son, Thomas H. Duke, Jr. on her own running boarding apartments, working at a sewing factory during the war and several other endeavors. When her son “Hicks’ as he was lovingly called, was nearly 17 she remarried a prominent locksmith named Ruell Schill whom she remained with for over 50 years until his death. Together they built a very successful Key Lock and Bicycle Shop in Seattle, Washington. They were honored on many occasions for their business and sponsored many community events. She sold her home and business several years after Ruels death to move to Tucson, AZ to be with her son and his family in 1978. There she remained for 15 years until she required some care giving. Then Ruth moved to St. David to live with her granddaughter for the past two years. Ruth’s posterity surviving are: son, Thomas Hicks Duke, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; his five children, Thomas Hicks Duke III and wife Dawn Thorton Duke of San Francisco, Patricia Lynne Duke Hart and husband David Hart with their four children, Tami L. Hart, Shawndi M. Hart, Aubrie K. Hart and Trevor R. Hart of St. David, AZ, Robert Allen Duke, his wife Marcella J. Premovich Duke and their three children, Jennifer M. Duke, Crystal J. Duke and Randall Robert Thomas Duke, all of Tucson, David Bryan Duke and James Elliot Duke, both of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving her are her niece, Dorothy Norsworthy Stackhouse of New Port Richey, FL; nephews, Garland Edward Norsworthy of Dallas, TX and Edward Vincent; dear friends included Margie Premovich and Elva J. Duke.
SCHLOSS, Leonard S., 88, of Tucson, passed away November 9, 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertyl D. Schloss. He is survived by children, Vicki, Mary and Paul Schloss. He was an active volunteer at the City of Tucson Courts, Tucson Police Department, Handmaker Jewish Services for the Aging, Pima County Council for the Aging, and was vice president of AARP Chapter 249. EDMONSTON, William Edgar Edmonston III, known to his many friends as Bill, died suddenly in his sleep on Tuesday, November 14, 1995 at his home in the Tucson Mountains. He was 51. Bill worked for nearly 30 years at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, most recently at the Woodmill. He was active in many volunteer organizations and clubs in Tucson, including the Lions, Junior Chamber of Commerce, as an Honor Guard in the Moose, and Club Los Amigos, all of which he did with enthusiasm and joy. He is survived by his mother and father, Rosemary Edmonston and William Edmonston; and a sister, Betsy Evans of London, England; and three nieces. A Memorial Gathering to which all of his friends are welcome, will be held on Saturday, November 18, 3:00 p.m. at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 1050 N.
