WILSON, Julia M., 98, died November 20, 1995. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Wilson. She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Claire) Owen of Willcox; niece, Peggy Stone Schultze of CA; nephew, Edurine Stone, Jr.; grandsons, Dwayne (Kelly) Owen and Lance Owen, both of Willcox. She was preceded in death by brother, Ed Stone, sister-in-law, Pearl and brother, Baird Stone. Moved to Jerome in 1912, then to Tucson in 1920 where she was employed at the Southern Arizona Bank for 40 years, retiring in 1960. Ruth Hatfield Brosin died on November 14, 1995. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on February 11, 1910. Ruth received her B.A. degree from the University of Nebraska and an MSW from the University of Chicago in 1949. She was a lifelong supporter of human rights, a courageous, proud, indefatigable wife, mother and grandmother. STUBSON, Hillard E., 85, died Thursday, November 16, 1995. Survived by wife, Mabel Stubson; sons, Larry (Corrine), Lyle (Mendi) and David Stubson; grandchildren, Jeremy (Stephanie), Tim, Halle, Alexis, Geoffrey and Hilary; great-grandchild, Matthew Stubson; brother, Benneth (Esther) Stubson. Hillard and Mabel were married October 15, 1938 in Parshall, ND. Hillard was a 50 year member of the United Association of Steamfitters and Plumbers Local 193 of Casper, WY, where they resided for 39 years before moving to Tucson in 1986. Donald D. Sumstine passed away November 15, 1995. He was born and lived in Akron, OH until taking up permanent residence in Tucson in 1952. He worked as a masonry contractor for 26 years, founding Eagle Masonry in 1956 with long-time partner Ronald Hessick of Tucson. Don served as a tail-gunner in a B-29 squadron in the Army-Air Corp in WWII. After retiring from the masonry business, he became highly skilled in designing and building southwestern style furniture. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Dorothy; son, Wayne of Tucson, daughter-in-law, Chris and granddaughter Rachael of Scotland; daughter, Donnabeth (Jack) Goodhart of Tucson; grandsons, Nathan Anderson, Luc and Theo Goodhart; also survived by brother, Ralph Sumstine of Sahuarita, AZ; and sisters, Merle Romine and Barbara Ayers of Akron, OH. He is survived also by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the volunteers and workers at TMC Hospice and many friends. WATERS, Mary Beatrice, 92, of Tucson, died November 19, 1995 after a short illness. Mary was a WWII veteran, a retired Superior Court Judge, and an active member of VFW Post 4903 for 39 years. She also was a member of MOCA Sahuaro #2 and a charter member of the Women’s Memorial in Washington, DC. Mary was an active volunteer in senior citizen groups that entertained in area nursing homes and the VA Hospital, she enjoyed playing the clown. She is survived by granddaughter, Mary Borge of HI; grandson, W.T. Cameron, Jr. of AK; several great- grandchildren and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Lt. Col. Claude Waters; and daughter, Mary Cameron. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 22 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Burial will be in Ft. WICKERSHAM, Patricia K., born November 15, 1951, passed away November 15, 1995. Survived by her mother, Winifred; brother and sister, Larry and Ann Wickersham; nephews, Chris and Peter (Jennifer). Predeceased by her father Larry. Memorial will be announced at a later date.
ALTFILLISCH BAGGS, Mildred, born June 26, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN. Due to Mickey’s health with rheumatic fever, the family moved to Tucson in her teen years. Later in LA, she met and married James Altfillisch, a Tucson native, on May 24, 1946; where they returned to Tucson after Jim’s service in the Navy. In the mid 60's the family moved to Pakistan and Lebanon with the Ford Foundation. She is survived by her children; Ann, Jeff and Gus and their spouses, Ruben Minkus, Roxanne and Brandy. Grandchildren are, Amy, Scott, Elizabeth, Garrett, Matthew, Daniel, Lyndsey and Kyle. In April 1990, she married Lee Baggs, who is a long time resident of Tucson and also who survives her. She will be missed and loved as much in life as in death by her family and countless life long friends. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 20, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338.
