SPANIOL, Donald “Max’, passed away on November 19, 1995. Survived by wife, Barbara; son, Ron (Sue) Spaniol of MI; son, Frank Spaniol of Tucson; two stepdaughters, Lisa (Judson) Walp, and Betsy Larkin of Tucson; brother, Bill (Rosalee) Spaniol of KS; many nieces, nephews and five grandchildren. PRECIADO, Rosario Ravago an 82 year resident of Tucson, passed away November 27, 1995. Born May 7, 1913 in Douglas, AZ. She was known as the “Storybook Grandma.’ Survived by her daughters, Carmen Cardiel, Mary Lou Escobar, Josie P. (Joe) Donley, Sylvia (Reynaldo) Martinez; son, Robert (Irene) Preciado; son-grandson, Danny Orduno; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her only surviving brother, Johnny Ravago. Visitation will be held Friday December 1, 1995 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. VAN NOTE, Norman Lee, 77, died Monday, November 27, 1995 at home in Tolono, IL. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Mr. VanNote was born February 11, 1918 at Mattoon, IL a son of Herman and Elsie Stokes VanNote. He married Karen Olsen December 1, 1976 at Reno, NV. She survives. Also surviving is one son, Matthew J. VanNote; and one daughter, Jennifer L. VanNote, both at home; and a brother, Roy VanNote of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Mr. VanNote retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sgt. in 1960 after serving 20 years in both the Army and Air Force. He received the purple heart in World War II in France and a Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster. He retired in 1982 from Davis Monthan A.F.B.

GILL, Eleanor Veronica McDonald, a longtime-school teacher in the Tucson area, passed away at home on November 26, 1995. She was born on April 28, 1918, in Duluth, MN. She was preceded in death by parents Capt. John H. and Rose T. O’Meara, and by husbands, Arthur L. McDonald and Robert S. Gill. She is survived by children, Kathleen Ragland (Tom) of Atlanta, GA, Marilyn Cooper (Carl) of Patagonia, AZ, John E. McDonald (Diane) of Oro Valley, AZ and Rik McDonald of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren, Erin Anderson, Scott Anderson, Tom Stout, Dan Stout, Jeff Stout, Darren Young and Kelly Nierengarten; and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Gill is an alumnus of the University of Minnesota, past president of Chi Omega Sorority, and taught in both parochial and public schools for over 28 years. She was assistant principal in charge of curriculum in a private school in Tucson. She was also active with the Disabled American Veterans and Womens’ Guild at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb. She was a loving, giving person who touched many lives, with a life-long love of teaching children. She was also a loving, caring mother. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 1995 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Gray of Tucson; sister of Connie Stuck (deceased) of Tucson. Arriving in Tucson in 1957, spent many successful years as a teacher, author of children’s books, and mother. LACY, Oel Allen, 72, passed peacefully away on November 26, 1995; of complications of COPD at Sonora Desert Hospice. Beloved husband of Jean Lacy; father of Sherry (Dan) Eriksen, Margie Cale, Guy (Sandy) Lacy, Richard Lacy, Carol (Jim) Lang, and Carmine Lacy; and grandfather of ten grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Mildred (Harold) Bacon of MO; brother, Carl (Bettye) Lacy of WA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Lacy was born February 14, 1923 in Red Bird, MO, he resided in IL for 20 years, then lived 28 years in Tucson, AZ. He served in World War II and the Korean War, receiving 5 Bronze Stars. He was a retired mechanic and carpenter on his death. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery 3015 N.
