DEKKER, Adrian Alan, age 63, passed away December 2, 1995. Mr. Dekker had been a resident of East Lansing, MI, for the past three years coming here from Ft. Meyers, FL. He was a farmer for 25 years in Kent City, MI, worked for E-Z Flo chemical Company in Lansing, MI, for many years, and Truly Nolen Exterminating Company in Tucson, AZ, and Ft. Myers, FL. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sparta, MI, and was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; four sons, Lawrence (Sharon) Dekker fo Lansing, Douglas (Kathy) Dekker of East Lansing, Michael (Vicky) Dekker of Norcross, GA, Steven (Marlene) Dekker of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Susan (Leo) Bidstrup of Leslie, MT; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Paul Dekker of Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Evelyn Cooper of Kent City, MI, Gertrude Johnson of Fruitport, MI; brother-in-law, Ralph Johnson of TN; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Grace Dekker and his brother Clarence Dekker. Religious Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 1995 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday. PATE, Herman E., 66, of Tucson, went to rest November 30, 1995. Herman was a long time businessman in Southern Arizona as the owner of Pate Contractors, Inc. He is survived by his wife and loving companion of 25 years, Shirley; he was a loving father to, Tim Pate, Terry Pate, Cheryl (Cornel) Moga, Troy Pate, Kathy Pate, Dale (Pete) Gomez, Drs. Carol (John) Melven, Debra Jordan, Bruce Pate, David Pate, Kenneth (Wendy) Pate, and Keith Pate; also survived by, 14 cherished grandchildren; and a dear brother, Braxton Pate. HARPER, Kenneth, 80, of Tucson, died November 30, 1995. JACOBS, Harold Simon, 83, Tucson, resident since 1944, passed away on December 1, 1995 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Baltimore, MD on April 4, 1912, and educated in New York City where he worked on Wall Street for several years. He served in the Merchant Marine from 1935 through the end of World War II and was decorated for having survived the sinking of his ship. At the conclusion of his war service, he returned to Tucson. For several years, Harold and his wife Gloria owned and operated the Santa Rita Nut Shop in the Santa Rita Hotel building downtown. After the sale of the shop, Harold joined his father Joseph Jacobs in operating the Concrete Block Company. In 1951 Harold joined the Prudential Insurance Company where he soon became a staff manager. He decided not to pursue further promotions as they would have taken him away from Tucson. Instead, he formed his own agency affiliated with Midland Mutual Life. He worked with that agency until his retirement in 1985. He next volunteered as a Medicare counselor with Tucson Medical Center Auxiliary. In 1989, Harold joined ReliaStar as a medical claims examiner and later became part of the mail support staff. He remained in that position until August of this year when poor health forced his retirement. Over the years, Harold has been a board member of the Jewish Family and Children’s Service. In recent years, he was a member of the Cactus Mariners, an organization of Merchant Marine veterans. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Gloria Greenman Jacobs, Mr. Jacobs is survived by children, John and Mary Ann Jacobs of Tucson, Ken Jacobs of Philippa Poze of Santa Monica, CA and Jim and Amy Jacobs of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Jacobs of Atlanta and Dannielle Wheeler of Las Vegas; great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Oriana Hensley of Las Vegas; sister-in-law, Beverly Green; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Susan Greenman; and numerous nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. KOZA, Mary Dolores, died on November 29, 1995 due to a car accident in MS. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles J. Koza. She leaves five children, daughter, Barbara Denney; daughter, Mary (Ben) Mendoza of Tucson; daughter, Betty Wasson; son, Michael Koza of MS; son, James (Robin) Koza of CA; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. She was a long time standing member of the Women Auxiliary VFW Post 549. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. GRAY, Genevieve (Jenny) S., passed away on November 21, 1995 at age 75. Survived by son, Paul Russell Gray and grandsons, Matthew and Ryan Gray of Orinda, CA and son, Howard A. Gray of Tucson; sister of Connie Stuck (deceased) of Tucson. Arriving in Tucson in 1957, spent many successful years as a teacher, author of children’s books, and mother. The unceasing support of those who provided so much friendship and assistance to Jenny during her illness is greatly appreciated by her sons.
