MAHAN, Dorothea Wallace, 83, of Tucson, passed away December 8, 1995. Survived by daughter, Maralyn (Bud) Mathews; granddaughter, Denise (Michael) Ernst; great grandchildren, Lacy Marie McGee and Krystal Lee Ernst; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mahan was the owner of Lazy Dazy Ice Cream Parlor in Green Valley from 1977-1981. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, December 14, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 E. University Blvd with Rev. Richard Smith of First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

McCONNELL, Isabel, 89, died December 11, 1995. Survived by her niece, Joan I. (Thomas V.) O’Connor, Jr. of Tucson; great and and great great nieces and nephews also survive. Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 14 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7651 E. Pima with Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

McGARVIN, Muriel S., 84, died Tuesday 12, December 1995 in Tucson. Survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Letty McGarvin; and one grandson, Cori McGarvin, all of Tucson. No services are planned. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

MILLER, Ernest William, 93, died Monday, December 11, 1995 at the Ogden Regional Medical Center of causes incident to age. He was born September 9, 1902 in Frieberg, Germany, the only son of missionary parents Albert John Miller and Mary Martinson. He married Anna Lewis on November 9, 1932 near Orlando, FL, and was happily married to her for 60 years until her death in January 1993. As a young boy he was raised on a ranch in the Sand Hills area of Nebraska. As a young man he lived in Alabama and Florida where he completed a two year business college. He enlisted in the Army infantry at Fort D.A. Russell, WY in 1922 and served three years in the Philippines as a Clerk-to-the-Adjutant until his honorable discharge in 1925. During the depression years he hauled produce from the south to the northeast and the midwest. He settled in upstate New York in 1942 and worked at the powder plant in Baldwinsville, NY during World War II. Later he became employee number 78 at Bristol Meyers in Syracuse, NY where he ran the extraction process for Bristol’s first production run of the antibiotic Tetracycline. He lived in Tucson, AZ from 1958 until 1993 when he moved to Ogden, UT. He enjoyed farming, collecting rocks and making jewelry from them and exploring new areas. He is a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Surviving are three children, Irene Wilber of Cato, NY, Erwin Miller of Ogden, UT and Albert Miller of Willcox, AZ; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY in Tucson, AZ on Thursday, December 14, 1995 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 1540 E. Linden in Tucson. Interment East Lawn Cemetery in Tucson.

SHAW, Mable L., 80, of Tucson, passed away December 11, 1995 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Unit after a lengthy illness. Affectionately known as GRANDMA MABLE her entire life centered around nurturing of her children and other children as well. She was a day care center mother and a volunteer at El Rio Neighborhood Center. Born in Yazoo City, MS she lived most of her adult life in Toledo, OH, and had lived in Tucson, AZ for the past 13 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Shaw, Jr., and is survived by her sister, Matteal Mosley; sons, James Kibler, Isaiah, Lester, Jerry, Terry, and Michael Shaw; daughters, Mrs. L. Carol Scott, Mrs. Evelyn Williams and Mrs. Izora Gordon; 40 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been handled by the Desert Rose Cremation and Burial, Tucson, AZ.

Jerome “J.F.’ Struck Passed away December 12, 1995. Born April 9, 1933 in Waterloo, IA. J.F. was raised in Iowa and lived there until 1988 when he moved to Tucson. Besides raising a family, he worked for U.S. West Direct (formerly Northwestern Bell) as a directory sales manager for 30 years. In Tucson J.F. was active in the Service Corps of Retired Executives and the Tucson AD Club. He was also a member of the Business Advisory Council for the Tucson School District, the Metropolitan Education Commission, Ochoa Project Steering Committee for Children at Risk, Tucson All-American City Committee and a University of Arizona Track official. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jeanne; his children, Timothy (Chris) Struck, Michael (Dr. Lynn) Struck, Carrie Struck, Daniel (Darcy) Struck, Katherine (Francisco) Alarcon and Susan (Scott) Richards; his sisters, Ila Dineen and Marlys Van Hauen; his mother, Helen Struck; and his eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Xavier, Alexander, Ignacio, Tyler, Tricia, Daniela and Dominec. Memorial Service 6:30 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 1995 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Education Enrichment Fund, 1661 N. Swan, Tucson, AZ 85712 would be appreciated. TRIMARCO, Ralph R., 97, of Tucson, died December 11, 1995. He is survived by children, Gloria (William J.) Monka, Richard (Bernice) Trimarco, both of Tucson; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brothers, Al, Joe and Tom Trimarco; sisters, Ann Simon, Connie Wright, Ruth Kendall and Ellen Kralovec. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 14 at 11:00 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Van Wagner officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. ADAMS, Ray H., 78, died December 10, 1995. Survived by son, Richard Adams of Jacksonville Beach, FL; wife, Esther Adams of Tucson; sister, June Duncan of Tucson; brothers, William Adams of Tucson, Ralph Adams of OR; and grandson, Justin Adams. Memorial Service will be Tuesday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway with Fr. Mike Martinez officiating. BURROLA, Angelita M., 74, of Tucson, beloved mother and grandmother entered into rest on December 9, 1995. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Arturo E. Burrola and her son Antonio Burrola and her brother Ramon Miranda Jr., and her parents Ramon and Rosa Miranda. Survived by daughter, Barbara (Melvin) Estrella; sons, Arthur J. (Yolanda) Burrola Jr., Andres (Marsha-Jean) Burrola; sisters, Anita Owen, Herminia Murray, Margaret Capitain; brothers, Gilbert Miranda, Jesus Miranda, Frank Miranda, Edward Miranda. Also survived by grandchildren, Robert (Julie), Angela and Alex Estrella, Arturo Eduardo, Christina and Natalie Burrola, Avery Brooke Burrola; great grandchildren, Monique Gamez Estrella, Lianna and Robert Joseph Estrella. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 1995 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Thursday, December 14, 19095 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Monica’s Church. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. CATALANO, Christina H., 88, of Tucson, passed away December 9, 1995. Preceded in death by husband, Rocco Giuseppi Catalano and daughter, Christina C. Borquez. Survived by sons, Joseph G. (Patricia) Catalano, Alberto J. (Margaret) Catalano, Rudolpho S. Catalano, Ernesto (Antonia) Catalano, Eugenio M. (Connie) Catalano and Francisco C. (Betty) Catalano; sister, Angelita Lopez from Yuma, AZ; 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 1995 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Thursday, 10:00 a.m. Santa Cruz Church. Interment Holy Hope Cemetery. Virginia Foote died December 10, 1995 after a brief illness. Born April 12, 1922 in Buckner, MO she was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Margaret Chiles and her sister, Nora Jane Simpson. A graduate of the University of Maryland she received her Masters Degree from the University of New Mexico. While in the U.S.O. in Japan she met and married Army Captain George Foote Jr. and traveled the globe as a military wife. They were part of Haile Selassie I historic celebration of twenty five years as Emperor of Ethiopia. In Pakistan, Virginia became close friends with President Ayub-Khan, his daughter, Nasem and son-in-law, Aurangzebe. She continued this relationship by making several return visits to Pakistan. Returning stateside she lived in Fort Hood, TX and Washington D.C. before settling in Tucson in 1967. Virginia served as Director of Volunteers at Tucson General Hospital and later was a volunteer specialist for the city of Tucson. She was active as a docent for the Arizona Historical Society. Virginia enjoyed traveling the world. She survived a train wreck in India and a coma in Pakistan. She studied at Oxford and was an impromptu guest at a wedding in Russia. Most recently she returned from an extended trip to Sicily and Italy. She leaves many friends throughout the world. She is survived by her son, Colby and his wife Laura, Chandler, AZ; her daughter, Margaret and her husband Dr. Richard Shallman, Richland, WA; her brother, Richard Chiles and his wife Ellen, Springfield, MO; and five grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at Unity of Tucson, 3617 N. Camino Blanco, Wednesday, December 13, 1995 at 10:00 a.m. The family suggests memorials be given to Carondelet Hospice, St. Mary’s, . 1802 W. St. Mary’s Tucson, AZ 85745.

JEFFRIES, Harley M., 86 years old, structural plant engineer, passed away December 7, 1995.

JONES, Evelyn, 78, of Tucson, died December 11, 1995. Survived by husband, Glen A. Jones of Tucson; daughters, Glenda Tompkins, Bonnie Perry, both of Tucson; sisters, Dora Miller of Zephyrhills, FL, Ava Peterman of Conneautville, PA, Jessie Napper of Sherman, NY; brother, Layton Miller of Zephyrhills, FL; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Services Thursday, 9:30 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY with Pastor Louis W. Johnson officiating. Interment to follow Evergreen Cemetery. LUNDBERG, Eugenia F. “Molly’, 80, of Tucson, passed away December 11, 1995. Molly became active in sales with a family run contracting firm in Crystal, MN and sold hundreds of homes and later moved to Key Biscayne, FL to head up the sales staff for successful completion of the 560 unit Commodore Club Condominium. She retired in 1977 and is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Lester; daughters, Janice (Duane) Washam of Tucson and Marcia Hopwood of Minneapolis, MN. Preceded in death by son, Murray. She will be dearly missed by brother, Jerry (Carmie) Murray of FL; sisters, Mary (Bob) Holland of TX, Janet (George) Nelson of FL, Pat (Bob) Hillstrom, Donna (Don) Roesche and Jacquelin Murray of Minneapolis; and sister-in-law, Helen Bronson of Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

REED, Joan L., 54, died peacefully at her home on Friday, December 8, 1995, following a courageous struggle with a long illness. She was born in Oakland, CA, raised in Manitou Springs, CO and Albuquerque, NM. She graduated as a nurse from the University of New Mexico in 1964 and has practiced her chosen profession since that time. She worked at the Bernalillo County Medical Center in Albuquerque for 15 years, in Tucson and Idaho Falls for the last 20 years in partnership with her husband, H. Grant Reed, M.D. She is survived by her husband, daughters, Stacey Erin Reed and Shannon Lynn Reed; and her pervious husband, G. Eric Bell of Albuquerque, NM. In keeping with her wishes, all services will be private with her family. It is requested that no flowers be sent, but that she be remembered by those people whose lives she touched by a gesture of help and love to someone in need during this holiday season. Her memorial will be the continuation in others of the spirit of love and caring by which she always lived.

ZAWADZKI, Charles K., 88, of Tucson, passed away December 10, 1995. He is survived by wife, Jennie; daughter, Christina and her husband Neale Duncan; grandchildren, Matthew Kurz and Stefani Kurz, all of Tucson; sister, Adele Szymanski of St. Louis, MO. Mr. Zawadzki was an avid baseball fan. He was player and an umpire on several minor leagues and at one time an umpire at U of A. He was a member of the Polish Club in St. Louis. He worked for many years at T.U.S.D. as a custodian. Memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 1995 at Hudgels SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd Swan. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the Arizona Lung Association.
