HIOTT, James Ralph, 65, a resident of Tucson for 30 years, passed away September 1, 1995 in Tucson. Born June 27, 1930 in Walterboro, SC. Survived by his wife, Serena Fleming-Hiott; sister, Amanda Ellmy; brothers, David E. and Austin B. Hiott; eight children by Maria Hiott. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 1995 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, Chaplain Harry Wineinger of American Legion Post #36 officiating.

MORALES, Jaoquin A., (Also known as Jesuson) 59 years old, died Sunday, September 10, 1995. He was a Tucson resident for 40 years. He is survived by wife, Martha; son, Jesus, both of Tucson; three sisters; and one brother, all of Mexico; one grandchild. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY. Funeral at the Mortuary on Friday, September 15, 1995 at 9:00 a.m.

OWENS, Joseph T., 88, of Tucson, died September 12, 1995. Preceded in death by wife, Sarah Owens. (Before her marriage to Mr. Owens in 1989, Mrs. Owens had been married to Lindley E. Clark for 54 years. Mr. Clark died in 1988. Before his marriage to Sarah, Mr. Owens had been married to Ella E. Owens for 56 years before her death in 1988.) Mr. Owens is also survived by sister, Anne O. Karas of Falls Church, VA; and brother, James V. Owens of Lawrence, KS. Preceded in death by daughter, Joella. Mr. Owens graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University and Harvard Law School. He served as Assistant Counsel to the Federal Reserve Board from 1934 – 1939; Vice President, General Counsel, and a member of the Management Committee of PPG Industries, Inc., 1939 – 1972. Mr. Owens served as Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserve, 1943-1945, in the Office of General Counsel of the Navy; and was a member of the Price Adjustment Board (Renegotiation Board) of the Navy. He was President of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh and was member of the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and later, of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. He was a signature member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild. Mr. Owens was an active golfer at Skyline Country Club and at Tucson Country Club. A Memorial Mass for Mr. Owens will be celebrated at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd., Tucson on Saturday, September 16, 1995, at 8:00 a.m. Friends who wish to make a donation in memory of Mr. Owens should make it to St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd., Tucson 85718 or to Tucson Symphony Orchestra, 443 S. Stone Ave., Tucson 85701. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY.

Fernando D. Perez 76, of Tucson, passed away September 11, 1995. Survived by wife, Frances; daughter, Rosemary (Richard) Trigloff; sons, Fernando (Lita) D. Perez Jr. and Christopher Perez; sisters, Carmen Maldonado and Eustolia Romero; brothers, Benjamin Perez and Pete Perez. Also survived by three grandchildren, Edward, Julie Trigloff and Monique Nicole Perez; one great grandchild, Brett Trigloff. Also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Fernando D. Perez was a long time resident of Tucson. He was a faithful retired employee of Pacific Fruit Express Railroad. He was a Veteran of WWII at Korean Conflict. Mr. Perez was a dedicated loving family man who will be missed by all. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 1995 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY (North Chapel) 204 South Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church. Mary Leon Quihuis 76, of Tucson, passed away September 12, 1995. From this life to the next. She is now reunited with her parents, Francisco and Maria Leon; sisters, Julia Vega and Frances Cota; and brother, Tony Leon. She was a loving and supportive mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her children, Patsy (Ernie) Munoz, Nicky (Bob) Pacot, Sooky (John) Knapp, Robert Jr. (Yolanda) and Lorry (Mary) Quihuis; sisters, Rosie Menager, Armida Pepper and Virginia Flores. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 1995 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel), 240 South Stone Ave, with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered Saturday, 9:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church. Renee A. Skomra (Verrier) 27, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord on September 12, 1995. Survived by husband, (William) Scott Skomra; daughter, Felicia; parents, Thomas and Linda Verrier; sister, Yuette Arnold; brother, James Verrier; in-laws, Ed and Joyce Skomra and Lisa and David Dungan, all of Tucson; grandparents, Doris and Louis Verrier of Winchester, NH; aunt and uncle, Michele and James Steiner of Northfield, MA; and her special friend, Elizabeth Arnold. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 16, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 215 S. Craycroft Rd, Tucson. ADAMS, Marlene S., 62, of Tucson, passed away September 11, 1995. Survived by mother, Elsie May Solomon; son, Raymond C. (Renda) Adams; sister, Elsie Mae (Richard) Mickola. BRUMMIT, Richard W., 69, of Tucson, passed away suddenly on September 9, 1995 in Ketchikan Hospital, Ketchikan, Alaska. Survived by wife, Doris Brummit; two sons, Barry (Pam) Brummit of Enid, OK and Brian (Judy) Brummit of Nasota, TX. Mr. Brummit was born December 20, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio. He was an Electrical Engineer for Tucson Electric Power retiring in 1991. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, September 14, 1995 at 1:00 p.m. at the Baird Funeral Home, 555 N. Market St., Troy OH, 513-339-2602, with Reverend Bruce Ford officiating. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 13, 1995 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park, New Carlisle, OH. Contributions may be made to American Heart Association.

EASTLACK, Robie, 57, died September 10, 1995 in Salt Lake City. Former TUSD teacher. Survived by children, Sonda and John; and brother, Tom. Memorial Service Los Gatos, CA.

ECCLES, Ernie J., 36, of Tucson, died September 7, 1995. Survived by father, Jerry; brothers, Earl and Jay, all of Tucson; mother, Ellie of Albany, NY; aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews in various locations across the US. Ernie was a metal fabricator extraordinaire and enjoyed outdoor activities. Memorial Service Saturday, September 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 7801 E. Kenyon Dr., corner of Kenyon and Pantano.

Fernando Weixelbaumer Escalante 45, of Douglas, AZ, died Monday, September 11, 1995 at St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Deborah; daughters, Shannon and Stephanie; grandson, Thorin; mother, Stephanie; brothers, Frank (Brenda), Philip (Linda), Richard (Thaya), and Alfredo; four nieces; four nephews; two great nieces; and two great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Moreno Escalante. Fernando was born and raised in Tucson, where his great-great-grandparents homesteaded in the Rincon Valley. He graduated from Sunnyside High School and then served three years in the U.S. Navy at Pax River, MD, where he met his wife. They returned to Tucson and he attended Pima College. He was a founding member of the Pima College Rodeo Club and was a Team Roper for the Rodeo Team. Fernando and his wife moved to Douglas in 1975. He graduated from Cochise College with a Degree in agriculture and worked in Cochise County with the State Agriculture Dept. as a Livestock Officer. Fernando loved his work and was an active leader in 4H and FFA. At the time of his medical retirement he was a Lieutenant for his department. Memorial Service: 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 1995 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson. The family requested memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, to Carondelet Hospice, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., Tucson, 85745.

FERINE, Lillian L., of Tucson, died September 7, 1995. Survived by husband, Peter M.; daughter, Barbara M. Ferine of Yonkers, NY; sisters, Marie Conway, Yonkers, NY, Beatrice Calsie, Reno, Nevada, Anna Cataldo, Sommers, NY, and Elaine Gentile, Yonkers, NY. Mrs. Ferine is also survived by brothers, Dr. Ferrell Volpicelli, Torrance, CA, Trevis Volpicelli, Yonkers, NY, Frederick Volpicelli, Brooklyn, NY, and Ronald Volpicelli of Yonkers, NY. She was preceded in death a sister, Antoinette Fitzpatrick and a brother, James Volpicelli, also of Yonkers. Her daughter Patricia Ann Joan Ferine died September 8, 1995. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in New York. Memorials may be sent to the Association for Retarded Citizens. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

FERINE, Patricia Ann Joan, 49, of Tucson, died September 8, 1995. She is survived by her father, Peter M. of Tucson; sister, Barbara M. Ferine, Yonkers, NY; also surviving are four aunts and five uncles including Frank Gogola, also of Tucson. Patricia was employed at Goodwill Industries. Memorial services will be held at a later date in New York. Memorial donations may be sent to the Association for Retarded Citizens. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

MACAFEE, Kenneth J., 91, of Tucson, died September 10, 1995. Survived by wife, Ruth; son, Wallace (Glenda) of Tucson; daughter, Barbara (LeWayne) White of Glendale; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Frick of Long Beach, CA. Funeral Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery. PLEASANT, Thomas J., 77, of Tucson, died September 7, 1995 at VA Nursing Home after a 15 year illness. Survived by wife, Mildred Pleasant; daughters, Joyce Ryan of Fort Myers, FL, Janet Alexiou of Falls Church, VA; grandchildren, Michael Ryan, Shae Ryan and Adam Alexiou; sisters, Lela West of Memphis, TN, Inez Atkins of Jonesboro, AR, Lillie Tubyfill of Russellville, AL, Betty Pleasant of MI and Roxsie Pleasant of AR. Mr. Pleasant retired from Navy Exchange and the US Navy. He is a member of Fleet Reserve Assoc #176, Elks Lodge #385 and V.F.W. Post #10188. Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 15 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Inurnment in East Lawn Palms Mausoleum will follow.

SAGER, Ethel V., 98, of Tucson, died September 10, 1995. Survived by daughters, Velma Newby, Patty Childs (Vance), both of Tucson and Rose Childs of Washington, IA; sons, Frank Sager (Hazel) of Tucson and Richard Sager (Betty) of Excelsier Springs, MO; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, Kenneth and Bill Sager; daughters, Donna Saner and Garnette Lindley. She was born in Brazil, IA on May 25, 1897 and moved to Tucson in September of 1952. She was a long time member of her beloved Hope United Methodist Church. She will be missed by her family and many friends. Memorial Service 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14 at Hope United Methodist Church, 6740 S. Santa Clara Ave. Remembrances may be made to the Christian Learning Tree Pre-School, 6740 S. SANDBERG, John O., 80, of Tucson, died September 15, 1995. Thanks is expressed to the staff of Hospital Based Home Care and Hospice programs of the Veteran's Hospital for their attention and care in his last days. Survivors include his wife, Elsie; stepdaughter, Eldonna Peterson of Ruthton, MN; sister, Isabelle Matus of Benson, MN; sister, Victoria Peterson of Tucson; and nieces, Maryann Nuckolls and Nicole of Tucson. Preceded by his parents, Emma and Ole Sandberg of Ruthton, MN and sister, Clara Sandberg of Tucson. He is survived by wife, Margarita; children, Georgia (Tom) Pappas of CA, Mary Vestal of AR; grandchildren, James, Mary, Nick and Tracy; two great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lamama of CA.
