Robert Thornley
The memorial service for Robert Thornley, who died October 8 after a long illness, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Christ Anglican Church, 35500 N. Cave Creek Road (1/2 mile north of the Carefree Hwy. on the west side of Cave Creek Road). Father Dart will conduct the memorial at the cross Robert carved for the church.

Patricia Schlottmann
Pat passed away peacefully October 8, 2012 in her home in Carefree, Ariz. at the age of 77, while surrounded by her family and friends after suffering a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Pat was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by her loving husband, Herman; daughters, Leslie K. Joyce, Karin Schlottmann-Castillo, Stacey A. Lemiesz, Natalie C. McWhorter, Whitney D. Joyce and Susanne P. Schlottmann. Grandchildren; Claudia Castillo and Ryan McWhorter. In addition to her brother, Charles R. Harris, and sister, Nancy L. Harris, Pat leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pat was born in Detroit, Michigan May 7, 1935 to Carl Harris and Helen Harris (McCauley). She attended Mackenzie High School (Class of 1953). Pat spent many of her early years in Farmington, Farmington Hills and Pinckney Michigan. She moved to Arizona in 1987 where she and her husband ran an electrical engineering firm (Control Logic, Inc.) until her retirement in 2000.

Rosemarie Ann (Rosselli) Connery
Rosemarie Ann (Rosselli) Connery, 76, loving wife of 40 years of William Patrick Connery (d. June 24, 2002), passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Dec. 18 in her home in Carefree.
Rose, as she was affectionately known by so many, spent most of her life in Massachusetts where she leaves cherished family and friends. Born April 28, 1936 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Thomas and Mary (Scopa) Rosselli, Rose moved to Arizona in 1999 with her husband, Bill and called the desert 'home' for the last 13 years. Rose attended Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Carefree where she was a faithful crafter - volunteering her time, culinary skills and creativity to raise monies for various charities. After her husband's passing in 2002, she became an active volunteer with Foothills Caring Corps where she was much loved and appreciated by the staff, the volunteers, and those she would visit or call on the phone to provide friendship and encouragement.
Rose is survived by her four daughters, Jeanette Begin (Manchester, NH), Patricia Connery (Maynard, MA), Katherine Connery Baltins (Milwaukee, WI) and Joyce Connery Shaw (Gainesville, VA). She will be cherished always as a loving grandmother to Rebecca Rose and Sarah Elizabeth Begin (Manchester, NH) and Jonathan Daniel, Christina Renee, and Ashley Nicole Shaw (Gainesville, VA) as well as a loving mother-in-law to Don Shaw.
Service and reception was held Wednesday, Dec. 26 at 10 a.m. at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 9205 E. Cave Creek Road, Carefree, AZ 85377 (480-488-2081 / www.ctlcarefree.org). Frank P. Coughlin
Frank P. Coughlin, 79, father and grandfather, died on January 9, 2013. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank Jr. and Patti Coughlin, three daughters, Caroline, Debbie and Donna Coughlin, two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Nicole Coughlin.
Frank was born the son of William and Eileen Coughlin in Dublin, Ireland.
He came to this country in 1958 and settled into the California life where he stayed until 1998 when he moved to Arizona.
Frank was a General Contractor in California and in Arizona did Commercial Construction Management.
He was a strong-willed, self-made man with an extremely hard work ethic.
Frank was a generous, gentle, loving man. He was a natural at sports, an accomplished artist, an avid golfer, played an electronic keyboard, could play a mean game of darts and would recite Irish poetry at the drop of the hat. In his younger years he raced Grand Prix motorcycles.
Frank believed in living “the moment” to its fullest. He will be greatly missed but his spirit will live on in the hearts of so many people whose lives he touched. A memorial is planned for February.
Pamela Tomich Beckert
Pamela Tomich Beckert, 54, of Durango, Colo., passed away on January 15, 2013.
She was born in Akron, Ohio on September 23, 1958.
Pamela is survived by her son Sean Dillman (Jessica Dillman), mother Alta Tomich, brothers James Peebles (JoBeth Peebles) and Preston Peebles (Teri Peebles), nieces Barbara Comstock, Jody Harris and Tisha Suarez, nephews Paul Walker, Michael Walker, James Peebles and Preston Peebles II, along with other family and friends.
Pamela is preceded in death by her father Peter Tomich and sister Marlene Radcliff.

Jean R. Nelson
Jean Rebecca Aidala Nelson, 77, passed away on February 15, 2013.
Jean was born in Manhattan, New York. She lived in Pennsylvania, California and Guam before settling in Arizona. She and her husband have lived in Cave Creek for the past 15 years.
Jean was an officer in the Arizona Kidney Foundation and the Chaine des Rotisseurs. She is survived by her husband, Walter B. Nelson, Jr., a local architect who has been a principal in several Phoenix firms. She is also survived by their niece Allison Brice and family of Douglas, Georgia and her dear friends.

William Verhulst
William Verhulst (Bill) of Cave Creek, Ariz. passed away on May 30, 2013.
He was born September 11, 1942 in Hackensack, N.J. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a graduate of Arizona State University and an accomplished Country Western drummer during his college days.
He was a high school history teacher with the Paradise Unified School District until retirement and he will be remembered by many of his students as their favorite.
Bill enjoyed reading, camping, hiking and spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife Carol and loving dog Lucky, sons Daren (Mafe), Devin (Amy), grandchildren Alexander, Marisa and Kinzley, sister Ellen (Robert) Eastly, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Wayne William Hennacy, Jr
Wayne William Hennacy, Jr., 84, of Cave Creek, Arizona died after a recently diagnosed lung cancer of 8 weeks, on August 21, 2013, at his beloved desert home.
Wayne was born in Sharon, PA, March 1929, to Wayne, Sr., and Thelma Hennacy. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alene. He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, Warren, Ohio, in 1945. On September 8, 1951 he married Edith Reihard, of Champion, Ohio.
Wayne (Bill) served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War, with the rank of corporal. He attended trade school for 4 years and graduated as a journeyman in sheet metal. Wayne was a proud member of local Union 359 for nearly 60 years. Bill retired in 1991.
Wayne and Edie had 3 children, Wayne (WIII), Rhonda, Colleen and two grandchildren, Shane and Erin. The family moved to Arizona in 1963 and then moved to Cave Creek, Arizona in 1973. Wayne was a dedicated family man and during retirement he and Edie, his wife, traveled across the country to visit their children.
A private celebration of life for family was held on August 24 at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary. Inurnment will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013, National Memorial Cemetery
of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. A public celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of the Valley, in honor of Wayne, at www.hov.org
Connie Rose Henderson
Consuelo Rose Moreno Henderson, 71, was born in Los Angeles, California and passed away June 15, 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona. She moved from California to Arizona in 1958, and graduated from Tempe High School.
While cruising with her girlfriends on Central Avenue in Phoenix, February 1960, she met the love of her life, Paul Henderson. The first night she met Paul, she told her friends she would marry him; they wed in October 1961.
Connie and Paul built their home and moved the family from Phoenix to Cave Creek where they lived for 25 years. Actively involved as a volunteer with her children’s 4-H Club, school, sports and other activities, she met many wonderful friends. Countless summer weekends were spent camping, fishing and water skiing with family and friends at Bartlett Lake.
The family regularly attended mass at the Carefree Inn and then Rancho Mañana before Our Lady of Joy parish was built in Carefree in 1974.
During the time she lived in Cave Creek, Connie met and worked for Dude and Barbara Noble of Carefree. Later they became business partners and remained lifelong friends.
Founder, President and CFO of Henderson Utility Company for 27 years, Connie treated her employees like family, insisting that everyone had health insurance coverage. The family business was established in January 1986, and continues operation today using her valuable ideas and administrative plans.
She was preceded in death five years ago by her only son, Michael Albert Henderson. They are now in Heaven together celebrating eternal life and happiness.
Connie was an amazingly talented, creative and ingenious artist, dabbling in nearly every art form: paints, mosaic tile, sculpture, crafts, beadwork and much more.
She was a supportive wife and the biggest cheerleader to Paul’s hobby building a cackle car K88 dragster and restoring their 1958 GMC Carry All over the last 8 years. Participation with both vehicles in several local car shows was a recent and exciting pastime for both.
She was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Nettie Moreno, three brothers and one sister in addition to her son Michael. Surviving family includes her loving husband, Paul, daughters Susan (Marty) Goggins, Patricia Henderson, grandchildren Joshua (Mandy) Henderson, Jacob (fiancé Xio Gonzales) Henderson, Raquel Gengler, Marie Goggins & Julie Goggins, great-grandson Jayden Gengler, brothers Gilbert (Veneta) Moreno and Phillip (Anna) Moreno, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial mass will be held on her birthday, Saturday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, 3424 N. 18th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85015. A reception celebration immediately following the service will take place in Gordon Hall at the church.
Tammy Morrison
Tammy Morrison of New River, Ariz., was born in Vernal, Utah, on April 24, 1959 to Kenneth and Velma Phillips. She died on November 27, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.
Tammy met Jeff Gollnick while they worked together at an electrical contracting company in 1985 and they were together as life partners since 1988.
Tammy became a purchasing agent in 1992 and pursued an Associates Degree in Purchasing, which she received in 2002. She worked in purchasing until in 2005, when she began working with Jeff in his Desert Foothills Electric business.
Tammy is survived by Jeff, her mother Velma of Vernal, Utah, son Patrick of Phoenix, Ariz., sisters Laurie Pitchford, Marci Lent and brother William Phillips of Vernal, Utah, Jeff’s mom Shirley of Phoenix, Ariz., brother Tim (Lisa), niece Lauren and nephew Taylor of Peoria, Ariz., sister Nancy Jenkins of Portland, Ore.
Tammy is predeceased by her father, Kenneth and Jeff’s father, Louis Gollnick.
Ruth M. Stevens
1927 – 2014
Ruth Stevens, a resident of Carefree, Ariz., passed away on January 8, 2014. She loved life and was a friend to all. Ruth was born in Arthur, Texas and grew up in Pleasantville, New York. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College in Virginia and worked for Texaco Co. in New York City.
Ruth met her husband, Hugh Stevens, on a blind sailing date on Long Island Sound. They married in 1954.
Ruth was a member of Soroptimist International, Carefree Chapter, and enjoyed the organization very much.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Hugh Stevens, former mayor of Carefree. She also has two sons; James Stevens of North Andover, Massachusetts and John Stevens of Gilbert, Arizona; one daughter, Cathy Dellios of Fountain Hills, Arizona and four grandchildren.
Donations in Ruth's memory can be made to the Foothills Caring Corps of Carefree.
A special “Goodbye to Ruth Stevens” will take place Saturday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. in Maitland Hall at the Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 6502 E. Cave Creek Rd., Cave Creek, Ariz.
Charles R. Bailey
1925-2000
Charles R. Bailey, of Elkhart, Ind., died on Jan. 15, 2000, at the Benson Hospital (Benson, AZ). Charles was born on Dec. 4, 1925, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Clark Remington and Marie (Cox) Bailey.
Charles was a truck driver for 38 years. He also worked with Howes & Howes for 20 years. He also served in the Army Air Corp from 1945 to 1948, most of that time was spent on the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. Charles and his wife were winter visitors of the Benson area for 10 years.
Charles was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Bailey and a granddaughter, Lee Ann Maskill.
Charles is survived by his wife, Doris Bailey of Benson and Elkhart, Ind.; two daughters, Celeste (Tom) Goggan of Elkhart, Ind.; and Marcia (Doyle) Gauld of Birch Run, Mich.; two brothers, Clark R. "Junior" Bailey of Arlington, Texas; and Donald "Donny" Bailey of Grand Rapids, Mich.; also five grandchildren.
A scripture service was held on Jan. 18, 2000, at 11 a.m., at Richardson's Mortuary, of Benson. Father Louis Hasenfuss officiated the service. Visitation was held on Jan. 17, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Internment will be at a later date in Manton, Mich.
Arrangements were made by Richardson's Mortuary of Benson.
Rudolph G. "Rudy" Garcia
1912-2000
Rudolph G. "Rudy" Garcia, of St. David, died on Jan. 30, 2000, at home in St. David, at the age of 87. Rudy was born on March 29, 1912, in Wickenburg.
Rudy worked as a miner for Magma Copper for 20 years. He was a resident of the St. David area for seven years. He previously resided in Tucson.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Carrie Garcia of St. David; two sons, Bob and Johnny; three daughters, Barbara, Marcie and Caroline; one brother, Joe of California and one sister, Anita of Wickenburg.
Services were held on Feb. 3, 2000, at Richardson's Mortuary in Benson, at 11 a.m. Pastor A B Blair, of the First Baptist Church of Benson, officiated the service. Internment was at the High Street Cemetery, in Benson. Casketbearers were Johnny Garcia, Joseph Garcia, Nick Garcia, Robert Garcia, Jr., Thomas Teasdale and Chris Stiffler. Honorary bearers were Bob Smith, Sam Hady, Duke Delaney, John Weber, Bill Weber and Michael Trejo.
Arrangements were made by Richardson's Mortuary of Benson.
Edward J. Hinrichs
1917-2000
Edward J. Hinrichs, a Benson resident for the past nine years, died suddenly at his home on Fri., Feb. 11, 2000, of a heart attack. He was 82.
Edward was born to Joseph T. Hinrichs, a Spanish American War Veteran and Elizabeth A. (Busch) on May 23, 1917 at the family farmstead west of Middleton Wis., the third of four brothers; La Vaerne, who died in infancy, Roman and George. Edward was the last surviving member of his generation of the family.
He grew up on the family farm, attending Mud Lake County School and Middleton High School. He worked for a number of prominent farmers in the area until he was drafted into the US Army Airforce in February of 1942. He was assigned to the Harlingen Army Air Gunnery School, Harlingen, Tx., where he met the love of his life, Norma Katherine Pace, of Los Fresnos, Tx. They were wed on May 26, 1943, in Cameron County, Tx. She bore him five sons and one daughter.
Upon discharge from the military in late 1945, he moved his family back to the Madison area, where he engaged in farming. He worked his own farm near Black Earth from 1948-1956 while working at Badger Ammunition Plant.
He sold the farm in 1956 and moved the family to San Benito, Tx, where he worked as a steel connector. They moved to East Texas briefly in 1957 and then back to southern Wisconsin. He worked for several local companies raising his family through 1966 when he was disabled by a stroke. He and Norma continued to live in Southern Wisconsin until 1991 when they relocated to Benson. They resided there until her death on April 25, 1999.
Edward had enjoyed fishing and sports, and was an accomplished raconteur. He enjoyed entrancing small children with the tales of his childhood. He had a knack for answering their questions about indelicate matters concerning animal behavior with homespun fables that addresses these matters in a most delicate, disarming, yet appropriate fashion.
Edward is survived by four sons and one daughter; Chester G., of Madison, Wis.; Merlin G. (Hank), of Phoenix; Harold E. (Gene) of East Troy, Wis.; David J. of Scottsdale; and Virginia E. (Ralph) Rudsinski of Delavan, Wis., and their daughter Ella of River Falls, Wis.
He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 56 years, Norma Katherine (Pace); and one son, Jerald E.
A memorial service will be held in Wisconsin later, time and location will be announced, under Richardson's Mortuary.
