LEON, Frances L. 'Panchita', born in Greaterville, AZ, and at an early age moved to Tucson. Preceded in death by parents, Carlota V. Laguna and Francisco M. Leon; brothers, Leonard, Joe and Lorenzo. Panchita worked at El Rio Health Center for 21 plus years as a Medical Receptionist. Panchita was very active in the restoration of the Barrio Historical, which she was a part of since she moved to Tucson. Panchita lived life to the fullest and she touched the lives of many people with her unselfish and giving character. Panchita will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends who loved her. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 1995 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. MEITZKE, Richard C. 'Dick', 69, of Tucson, went to be with our Lord on July 5, 1995. Born in Benton Harbor, MI March 14, 1926. Preceded in death by his father, Clifford H. Meitzke and sister, Marilyn R. Gordon. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Jane G.; mother, Dorothy P. Miller of Tucson; daughter, Carol (Michael) Jester of Metairie, LA; one grandson and one granddaughter. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends who all loved him and will miss him for his strong zest for life and his humor. Dick was a Veteran of U.S. Navy, life time member of the Foreign Wars #10008, American Legion #36, Elks Club #2090 and Moose Lodge #747. Memorial Services will be held at a later date with Rev. VIRGIL, Trinidad, 72, of Tucson, (loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother), passed away July 4, 1995. Survived by 12 children, Beverly Fortune, Charles Virgil, Ernest Virgil, Marvin Johnson, Denise Watkins, all of Tucson; George Evans, Yvonne Lathion, Harold Johnson, Rochelle Shaw, all of CA, Cynthia Parris of VA, Jeffrey Parris of Chicago, Vincent Parris of NY and Debra DeSilva of NJ; also survived by one sister, Delores Winn of CA; 36 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. AGUIRRE, Enrique C. 'Henry', 84, of Red Rock, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 1995. Survivors include loving children, Cecilia (Michael) Harrold, Mary Alice (Ron) Vogler, Henry H. 'Rick' (Cynthia) Aguirre, all of AZ; grandchildren, Lisa (James) Cortese, Kristin Marie Harrold, Monique (Jeff) Smith, Ricardo Aguirre, Breeanna, Cameron, and Daniella Rose Aguirre; great-grandchildren, Jamie Lynn and Lauren Cortese; brother, Yjinio F. Aguirre; sister, Ana Serrano. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Aguirre was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He was a descendant of a pioneer ranching and farming family northwest of Tucson in the Red Rock Area. He was a longtime member of the Arizona Cattle Growers and Arizona Cotton Growers Association. During World War II, Mr. Aguirre was hired by the Department of Defense and later joined U.S.D.A. as an appraiser specifically for the abatement of hoof and mouth disease in Mexico. ARMBRUSTER, Ronald G., 57, of Tucson, passed away July 3, 1995. Born in Belvidere, IL on January 24, 1938. Mr. Armbruster is survived by his wife of 31 years, Esther; sons, Carl and John of Tucson; two grandchildren; mother, Marrion; sister, Pat Walker of Tucson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Armbruster served four years in the USAF, retired from U.S. West after 32 years. He was also a member for 27 years of the American Legion Post 36, and member of the Copper Knights Color Post 36, and a life member of Telephone Pioneers of America. DENCKLAU, Edna L., 84, of Eagle Grove, Iowa, died Saturday, July 1, 1995 in Eagle Grove. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur and her son, Gaylord. ESCALADA, Rosalva Williams. A Funeral Mass was held July 3, 1995 at Sacred Heart Church for long-time resident, Rosalva Williams Escalada who died July 1, 1995. She was a vital active member of this community through-out her life. Her community service career included stints as State Regent of the Arizona Catholic Daughters of America, Grand Regent of the Santa Cruz Court #1341, Nogales Woman of the Year 1949, Hospital Auxiliary member, Santa Cruz County Chairperson for the March of Dimes, Secretary/treasurer of the Nogales Public Library Board, Nogales Chairperson for the American Red Cross Blood Donor Program, board member of the Santa Cruz Mental Health Association, and President of the Nogales Community Concert Association. Mrs. Escalada also served on the general fund raising committee for Saint Joseph's Hospital for many years and as vice-president of the Nogales Womans Club. She belonged to the panel for Mobilization and the Child and was a delegate to the conference on Children and Youth. Mrs. Escalada was an avid golfer, family and friends agree that making a 'hole in one' at the Meadow Hills County Club was one of the highlights of her golfing career. Mrs. Escalada graduated from Nogales High School in 1927. She worked for many years as assistant to Dr. Laurence Houle. Mrs. Escalada was pre-deceased by her husband, Manuel Escalada, member of a pioneer family. HAURY, Del W., 55 years old, died Monday, July 3, 1995. He was an area resident for 34 years. He was a retired Tucson Policeman. JOAQUIN, Angelo Jose, Sr, passed away Monday, July 3, 1995. Angelo was born on February 13, 1929 in Covered Wells on the Tohono O'odham Nation. He lived with his family in the Florence area for the past 35 years, where he was instrumental in the formation of the 44-acre Florence Reservation. Angelo is survived by his wife, Marcellina; 11 children; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Angelo had a distinguished career as a tribal leader, including serving as a school board member, district councilman and as a representative of the Gu Achi District to the Tohono O'odham Legislative Council. Angelo was elected as Vice Chairman of the Tohono O'odham Nation in 1988, and served as Chairman from 1989 to 1990. Angelo will be remembered for his contributions to waila music. The Joaquin Brothers, a family band which performed together for 35 years, appeared in such venues as Wolf Trap in Virginia, a Polka Pow Wow in Buffalo, New York, the World of Music and Dance Festival to Toronto and Carnegie Hall, as well as recorded for the Smithsonian's Folkmasters Series broadcast on National Public Radio. The band also appeared at many local festivals in southern Arizona. Funeral arrangements include a public viewing at the Tohono O'odham Nation Council Chambers in Sells on Friday, July 7 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. A 7:00 p.m. Mass is scheduled at Upper Covered Wells, approximately 25 miles west of Sells. Burial services will take place at 5:00 a.m. on July 8 in Upper Covered Wells.
LARSON, Raymond Harry, went to be with the Lord on July 3, 1995 at the age of 88 years. He died at home with his adopted family, Mildred, Connie and Joseph Young in Tucson, Arizona.
