STANLEY, Claudina J., 31 years old, died Thursday, July 20, 1995. She lived in Little Tucson. She was a bone marrow transplant patient. Survived by parents, Robert M. Stanley Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ, Anne Hendricks of Little Tucson; daughters, Marie A. Moreno, Angel J. Orque; son, Michael E. Moreno Jr.; sisters, Carol A. (Joseph) Ramon, all of Little Tucson, Roberta Stanley of Scottsdale; brothers, Calvin Stanley of Oklahoma City, OK, Leland Hendricks of Little Tucson. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. Little Tucson Village, at her mothers residence. All choirs are welcome. THURBER, Reed Gibbons completed his mortal probation and passed on to his eternal rest on July 24, 1995. He is survived by his wife Betty, his daughter Shelley Taylor of Tucson with her husband Kent and two daughters, his daughter Allison Carpenter of Mesa with her husband Stan and five children, his daughter LeAnn Birch of Yuma with her husband David and three children, and his son Carl with his wife Renee and two children of Tucson. Reed was born in Phoenix April 7, 1932 but grew up in St. Johns, Arizona. He graduated in elementary education from Northern Arizona University. Reed served his country in the army during the Korean conflict and served in his church as a Bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and as a Scoutmaster and later as the Stake Patriarch. He was very active in the Boy Scouts not only as Scoutmaster but also on Woodbadge staff and other leadership and training positions receiving both the Council Award of Merit and the National Silver Beaver Award. He taught school in the Tucson Unified School District for 20 years and later started Reed's Janitorial and then Reed's ChemDry carpet cleaning business. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints East Stake Center at 6901 E. Kenyon Dr. A viewing will be held at the East State Center Thursday evening July 27 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Interment will be Saturday morning July 29 in the St. Johns cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in his memory to The Catalina Council of the Boy Scouts of America at 5049 E. Broadway, Suite 200 or to the Arizona Cancer Center at 1515 N. Campbell.
VAN HORN, Rosalinda Torres, 28, of Tucson, passed away July 24, 1995. Survived by husband, Gilbert Van Horn; children, Nicole Torres, age ten and Gilbert Jr., age two; parents, Richard and Rose Mary Serrano Torres; grandmother, Mary U. Serrano; sister, Rose Marie (Chris) Villa; brothers, Ray, Rudy (Rachel), Richard Jr. (Lori) and Robert (Traci) Torres, all of Tucson; father and mother-in-law, Timothy and Vickie Van Horn; brother-in-law, Johnny (Thelma) Van Horn of Tucson; sister-in-law, Debbie (Robert) Saunders of CA. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, 16 nieces and nephews. Rosalinda was a nurse and manager of Riverview Retirement Homes for eight years. AZEVEDO, LaVerne Elvin, 79, died Thursday, July 20, 1995. She was visiting her son and grandson in Tucson, when she was diagnosed with her terminal illness. She died peacefully at her son's home, with friends present. She is survived by her son, William and grandson, Esteban. Burial, following her wishes, will be at her home in the San Francisco Bay Area.
CORBETT, Delma Bartlett, 77, went with our Lord July 24, 1995 to join the chorus of angels. She leaves a loving husband, Bill; and daughter Linda Howland; sister, Dora Dukes; brothers, Fernando Bartlett, Ruben Bartlett, Charles Bartlett; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dee loved to sing and was a 35 year charter member of the Swett Adelines Old Pueblo Chapter. Her last group was the Canyon Course; however, the past four years she was secluded due to Alzheimers. Dee was a fourth generation Tucsonian and proud of her ancestry. Her grandfather was John (Yank) Bartlett of 'Hank and Yank' fame. Yank sent Johnny Bartlett of Oro Blanco when the ranch was attacked by indians in the 1880's. He was awarded a rifle for his bravery. Born in Tucson Mrs. Corbett graduated from Tucson High in the class of 1936. She attended St. Mary's Nursing College for two years and then Lamson Business College. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed. Services Thursday, 11:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY. COTA-ROBLES, Francisco 'Frank', born in Tucson, September 3, 1916 died July 23, 1995. Preceded in death by son, Armando Cota-Robles, sister, Isable Newton and brothers, Alfonso Cota-Robles and Mario Cota-Robles. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eva; children, Aida (Regi) Bacoccini, Ricardo (Patricia), 'Corky' (Linda), Gerardo 'Jerry' and Leonardo Cota-Robles. Also survived by 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brother and four sisters. He lived and worked his entire life in Tucson, retiring after over fifty years in the sheet metal business. Frank has left a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity and will forever be remembered by those who knew him. KOUSSA, Louis E., D.D.S., 73, died peacefully at home on Saturday, July 22, 1995. He passed away to the Lord leaving his loving wife, Laurice, of 46 years. He is survived by his four children: Dr. Louis Koussa, wife Donna and grandchildren, Jlyn, Korryn and Tayte of WA., Linda of OR; Leigh Ann Worcester, husband Phil and grandchildren Phillip, Michael and Lauren of Tucson; Dr. Lawrence Koussa and wife Pamela of Tucson; sisters, Lena Aissis and Emily Dufour; brothers, Harold, Jerry, George and Edward. Preceded in death by his parents, Kareem and Angelina; and by brothers, Fred and Joseph. Louis was born in Central Falls, RI. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for service in WWII. After graduating from the University of Detroit Dental School, he practiced 42 years, establishing offices in Detroit and Tucson. He was a member of the American Dental Association and AZ Dental Society. Family and friends will always remember him for his honesty, humor and devotion to his wife and family. MAKI, Edward William, 73, passed away Saturday, July 22, 1995 at Carondelet/St. Mary's Holy Family Hospice. Ed was born and raised in Wisconsin, he farmed in Maple and worked at the ore docks in Superior. He served in the U.S. Army AirCorp during World War II and was later assigned to the QuarterMaster company during the post occupation of Germany. Ed and family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1963. He retired from Kino Community Hospital in 1981. He is survived by brother, Melvin Maki; son, Willis E. Maki; daughters, Loretta (Guild), Marilyn Maki, and Beverlee (Baker); and seven grandchildren. The viewing will be held at the SOUTH LAWN CHAPEL, 5401 S. PETERS, Raymond 'Pete', passed away June 30, 1995 in Mexico City. PFRIMMER, Walter E., 40, passed away July 14, 1995 in Carlin, Nevada. Mr. Pfrimmer was born and raised in Tucson and attended Tucson schools. He is survived by his wife, Mary; and son, Jake, both of Carlin; mother, Betty Pfrimmer; sister, Linda Pfrimmer; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Everill; aunts, uncles and cousins, all of Tucson. Mr. Pfrimmer was preceded in death by his father, John G. Pfrimmer and by his sister, Debra Pfrimmer. A Memorial Service was held in Carlin, July 18, 1995.
ROHER, Charles John, 82, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 23, 1995. He was born in Mt. Pulaski, IL in 1913 and moved to Tucson in 1948. He was preceded in death by Mildred, his wife of 60 years. He is survived by his son, David Roher and daughters, Sally Lee and Janet (Michael) Barr of Tucson, Patty (Stanley) McElrath of Tempe. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Mr. Roher founded Roher Fence Company in 1949 and was active until his retirement in 1983. Charles was steadfast and loyal in his love for God and for his family. He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene. He now rests safely in the arms of Jesus. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25, 1995 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. (Andra) Laos of Minneapolis, MN; brother of Rudy Laos of Tucson, and Juliette Gonzales of Tucson; grandfather of Paul E. Laos III, Fredrick Laos, Matthew Laos, Ingrid Laos Rochnick, Carter Laos, and Jett Alex. Two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Cristin also survive.
