FINICAL, Christene Smith, 89, a resident of Tucson since 1971, Mrs. Finical was born in Stratford, Ontario and came to the United States to take her nurses training at Sheldon Memorial Hospital in Albion, MI, graduating in 1927. She worked in hospital nursing specializing in occupational health. While being employed by Packard Motor Company she met Pearl Davis and in 1946 they established Davis-Smith, a nurses registry. They were instrumental in the founding of the Michigan Association of Occupational Health Nurses. Davis-Smith continues to provide quality nursing services to this day under the direction of its current president, Charles Corbett. Mrs. Finical was selected by Detroit Skyliner Magazine in 1965 as the recipient of their award for outstanding business person during `Salute to Women Who Work Week'. She has been an active member of PEO for many years. Mrs. Finical died on May 24th after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Finical who she married in 1987 and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS, 5801 E. Grant Rd. in Tucson on Friday, May 26th at 11:00 a.m.; visitation at 10:00 a.m. Services will also be held at Manns Ferguson Funeral Home in Livonia, MI where she will be buried.
HENDRICKSON, Floyd W., 84, died Wednesday, May 24, 1995. HORN, Maurice Wiles, 37, of Tucson, died May 23, 1995. He was born on April 23, 1958 in Canton, MS. He moved to Arizona in 1968. 'Mo' was the loving husband of, Caroline Owen-Horn; cherished son of, Johnie W. and Margaret Horn; beloved brother of, Renee Anderson and John M. Horn; devoted uncle of, Dale Jr., Joshua and Zachary; favored brother-in-law of, Steve and Judy Owen and Michael Owen. He is survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. 'Mo' graduated from Catalina High School in 1976. He attended Pima Community College for two years. 'Mo' was a telephone technician employed by Copperstate Communications for eight-and-a-half years. 'Mo' will be missed dearly by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at American Evangelical Lutheran Church, 115 N. KAISER, William 'Bill', 79, of Green Valley, AZ., passed away May 23, 1995. Survived by wife, Beverly Kaiser of Green Valley; daughter, Diane (Paul) Jorgenson of ND; step-daughter, Linda (Andy) Hernandez of Tucson; brother, Gene Kaiser of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Patrick, Kristen, Amy, and Kassie Jorgenson; great grandchild, Joey Jorgenson; step-grandchildren, Samuel and Mark Hernandez; step-great grandchildren, Brianna and Cory Hernandez. RANKIN, Katharine Bryant Jones, died May 23, 1995 at Central Oregon Health Care Center. She was 90. Mrs. Rankin was born July 17, 1904 at Niagara Falls, NY to Emmons and Dorothy Wilberforce Lyon Bryant. She attended St. Agnes School in Yonkers, NY and graduated from Wells College, Aurora, NY in 1926. She married Raymond B. Jones of Larchmont, NY in 1928. After his untimely death the following year, Mrs. Rankin attended the New York School of Social Work. She worked in that field until meeting and marrying Kenneth S. Rankin of Toronto, Canada in 1935. The family lived in Toronto until moving to Tucson, AZ in 1946 for Mr. Rankin's health. He predeceased Mrs. Rankin in 1959. A Tucson resident for over 40 years, Mrs. Rankin spent time as an adoptive placement worker with the Arizona Children's Home Society. A tireless church worker all her life, she was active in the Women's Auxiliary of Grace Episcopal Church and held a number of offices and chairmanships in both the local church and the diocese. After illness left her unable to live alone, she relocated to Bend, OR in 1990 to be with her son. Mrs. Rankin is survived by her son, Raymond B. Jones of Bend, OR; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Tucson, AZ, Saturday, June 24, 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Wells College, Aurora, NY 13026. FLANDERS, David S. Sr., 64, died Tuesday, May 23, 1995 at University Medical Center. Mr. Flanders was born March 8, 1931 in Fond du Lac, WI. Survivors include his widow, Charlotte; sons, Peter of San Francisco, CA, Michael, Kevin and Cary, all of Chandler, AZ; daughters, Anne Fuhrman of Fond du Lac, WI and Nora Nash of Rio Rico, AZ. A son, David, preceded him in death May 25, 1983. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; a brother, Donald of Vicksburg, MI; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Flanders of Fond du Lac, WI. GOETZ, Richard H., 68, of Tucson, died May 24, 1995. Survived by wife, Myrna Auslander Goetz; sons, Brian (Carol) Goetz of Boulder, CO., Larry (Robin) of Los Angeles, CA., Stephen (Christy) of Glendale, AZ., all by his late first wife, Elaine Flyer Goetz. Brian's daughters, Brook and Kelsey; and brother, Albert of Cleveland, OH. He is predeceased by brother Jerry Goetz; other survivors include his stepchildren, Steven (Nancy), Marcelle, Karen, and Brandon Auslander. Mr. Goetz was a practicing attorney in Tucson for 43 years, after graduating from U of A Law School in 1952. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Ohio and Western Reserve University. He enlisted in the Navy during WWII at the age of 17 and served for two years. Richard was very active in the community having served as President of the Arthritis Foundation 1971-1972 and was President of Congregation Anshei Israel in 1973 and President of the Jewish Community Council in 1979, when he was named Jewish Man of the Year.
