Retired engineer for PPG Industries, 1937 graduate of Ohio State University College of Engineering, past president of Ohio State Alumni of Tucson, a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, member and a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #5133, Tucson, AZ, member of Kiwanis for over 30 years, most recently a member of the Sunshine Kiwanis of Tucson, life member of BPOE #140 in Mt. Vernon, OH, member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Tucson, volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital for many years. Survived by his wife of 55 years Doris Baker Pietrangelo; daughters, Nancy Chupek of Akron, OH, Mary Ann Gill of Columbus, OH; son, Gary of Westerville, OH; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson; sister, Mary Pietrangelo of Smithfield, OH; brothers, Ralph of Long Beach, MS, Tony of Cadiz, OH and Julius of Smithfield, OH. ROBINSON, Clarence Hugo, a resident of Tucson for 50 years, went to be with the Lord May 27, 1995 in Tucson, at the age of 84. Born September 23, 1910 in Mammoth, WV. Mr. Robinson retired from Pacific Fruit Express Company. Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sadie; three sons; one daughter. ROCKWELL, Sr., Blaine M., 79, of Tucson, died May 25, 1995. Survived by wife, Hazel of Tucson; son, B. Milton (Patricia) Rockwell, Jr.; granddaughter, Cecilia I. Rockwell, all of Lafayette, LA; brother, Glen Rockwell of OK. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 30 years of service. Private services and interment were held at Evergreen Cemetery. RUDOLPH, John C., 73 years old, died May 30, 1995. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Tucson High School and the University of Arizona. He was on the U.O.A. Golf Team under the professional guidance of Fred Enke for four years. He won the El Rio Invitational in 1948 and various other tournaments country wide during the ensuing years. He served four years in the Army Air Corps as a glider pilot and air traffic controller during World War II. He entered the oil business in 1951 and began negotiations on oil and gas leases. He built and marketed equipment for the production of oil and gas. He was on the Board of Directors of the Corry National Bank and Marine National Bank in Erie, PA. John retired in 1969 from the oil business and returned to Tucson where he was P.G.A. golf professional at Randolph golf course for 12 years and the golf professional at Tucson Estates Country Club for four years. He is survived by loving companions, Victoria and Monica Deane Davis; Molly Soulsby Rudolph; Jock Rudolph, Mary Castor Rudolph, Isobel Rudolph and Emil Rudolph. A Memorial Service will be held at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 4520 West Ajo Way, Tucson, Arizona, Friday, June 2 at 5:00 p.m.
SCHROEDER, Gustav W., 88, of Tucson, passed away May 24, 1995. Retired Marine Engineer for NYC Fire Department. Preceded in death by wife, Mary and son, Thomas. VOULKOS, Clara M., 87, of Tucson, passed away May 29, 1995. Born October 11, 1907 to Guy and Mary Knauff. Came to Arizona as the bride of William Hillary in 1926. Settled in Tucson in 1933 following his death. Remarried in 1936 to James Voulkos, who passed away in 1988. Survived by daughter, Wanda Rice of Tucson; brother, Cecil (Meg) Knauff of Tucson; sister, Leta Shake of La Verne, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was an active member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and in later years with the American Parkinson Disease Association. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 31, 1995 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with Trisagion services at 6:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd. (1 1/2 Blks North of Grant). George E. Woodruff 83, passed away May 29, 1995. He was born in Orange, Connecticut on May 27, 1912. George graduated from the Choate School in Connecticut in 1931, received a bachelor's degree from Yale in 1936 and a Master's degree from Harvard in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a LT.j.g. George, his wife Marjorie and Claire Livesey ran Tucson Country Day School from 1946 until 1961. Mr. Woodruff was publisher of The Daily Reporter, a commercial newspaper, for a number of years. He retired to California in 1968 and returned to Tucson in 1990. He is survived by a nephew, numerous cousins and many close friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. An inurnment committal service will be held at the Columbarium at St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church, River Rd. at Campbell, at al later date. UPSHAW, Ulysses (Rev.), A resident of Tucson, passed away May 28, 1995 at the age of 80. Preceded in death by wife, Marie Upshaw, December 27, 1987. He is survived by sons, Ulysses (Irene) Upshaw of Tucson and Richard Upshaw of Tucson; brother, James Upshaw, Sr. of AL; grandchildren, Bryon, Erik and Michelle Upshaw all of Tucson; devoted niece, Juliette Jackson of Tucson. Rev. Upshaw retired as a principal of Sam Hughes Elementary School, director of Head Start in Tucson Unified School District. He was employed in the education field for over 30 years. Rev. Upshaw was associate minister with Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Dean of Mt. Calvary Bible Extension School, member of Phi Delta Kappa Chapter #30 Fraternity, veteran of WWII and Korean War. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 210 E. Lester with Rev. Vernon Howard officiating. Interment will be in Tuskegee, AL. WARREN, Harold F. (Hal), 81, entered his eternal reward on Saturday, May 27, 1995. He was a life long Christian, loving husband of 54 years to Lou Warren; father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Hal served his country in defense of freedom at the European Theater of Operations during WWII thru VE Day. He went on to complete a military career retiring from the U.S. Army at Ft. Huachuca, AZ as a LT. Colonel in 1959 with over 28 years active service. He then went on to a second career as a Systems Engineer, retiring in 1984. He served as a deacon and men's Sunday school teacher at 22nd Street Baptist Church for 35 years up until the last two weeks of his sojourn here on earth. Hal was an adult scouting leader for five decades having served on Wood Badge Staff many times. He received two of scouting's highest awards, The Silver Beaver and The Silver Shepherd. He is survived by his wife, Lou; daughter, Judy K. Anderson; two sons, Harold M. (Mike) and Philip S.; sister, Betty Klein; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to 22nd Street Baptist Church for the ongoing of Christ's kingdom. Humble, Sonja Lois Daum, Esther Yvonne Humble; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Virgil Gray and sister, Helen Dixon. Lois moved to Tucson from KS in 1946 with her first husband who preceded her in death, Charles Humble in 1974.
