MARTINEZ, Lou Ann, in loving memory, 47, of San Xavier Mission, died June 5, 1995. Survived by husband, Felix Martinez Sr; sons, Felix Jr., Manuel; daughter, Carmen; sisters, Marcia Encinas and Ofelia Compos; aunt, Teresa Orosco and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Rosary recital will be held Thursday evening, June 8th from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the San Xavier Center. Funeral Mass will be offered at 7:00 a.m. San Xavier Mission Church, and burial at San Xavier Cemetery.
MORRISON, S. Eugene (Gene), 71, died June 4, 1995 of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Survived by wife, Anna Lee; daughters, Patt Morrison (Jim Blair) of Los Angeles, CA, Maureen and son, Chris, both of Tucson; brothers, William of Lancaster, OH and Elmer of Newark, OH. Gene was a journeyman lineman and had been employed by Tucson Electric Power Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1990. During World World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for three years in the south Pacific as a Gunner's Mate on the destroyer Allen M. Sumner. Gene was a 50 year member of Licking Lodge F.andA.M. #291 in Utica, OH and was a former deacon of the Utica Presbyterian Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, hunting and fishing. He was also fond of Las Vegas, Laughlin and the slot machines in Tucson. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 11, 1995, in the chapel of EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile, with Dr. Andrew G. Ross of Northminster Presbyterian Church officiating and military honors by DMAFB Honor Guard. Interment will be private. The family suggests that donations be made to ALSA, 1601 W. St. Mary's Rd., or the the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
RIVARD, Eileen E., 76, of Tucson, died June 5, 1995. Survived by sons, Victor and Richard Rivard; daughter, Velinda Evans; 11 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Private inurnment will be held in Phoenix at a later date.
SNEDDEN, T. A. 'Al', was born in Sanger, CA, August 27, 1910, died June 4, 1995 in Tucson, AZ. Mr. Snedden joined ASARCO in 1933 at the Company's Ground Hog, New Mexico mine just after graduating from the University of California with a bachelor of science degree in metallurgy. He served in engineering and supervisory positions at various ASARCO units until 1952 when he was promoted to manager of the Southwestern Mining Department. He was named general manager of the United States Mining Department in 1963, and general manager of the North American Mining Department in 1969. He was elected vice-president – mining in 1971 and retired in 1975 after 42 years of service in the mining industry. Mr. Snedden served as past chairman of the Arizona Section of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, past governor of the Arizona Mining Association and past chairman of the Western Division of the American Mining Congress. Mr. Snedden was president of the board of trustees of the Tucson Medical Center and served on the board of directors of the Tucson Chamber of Commerce, The United Community campaign, and the Arizona Desert Museum. He was awarded a medallion of merit by the University of Arizona in 1959. He was an ardent golfer and long-time member of the Tucson Country Club of which he was a past president. He is survived by wife, Mary Ellen; daughters, Patty Fisher, Barbara Espy, Lois Snedden; a son Robert Snedden; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Memorial Service will be held at Tucson Medical Center Chapel, Sunday, June 11, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. William Killian and Donald Shropshire officiating. OLIVA, Luciano, 92 years old, died Monday, June 5, 1995 in Tucson. Survived by his daughter, Velma Wood of Tucson; son, Ralph Oliva of Tucson; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Mass for Mr. Oliva will be said at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 9, 1995 at St. Cyril's Church, 4725 E. Pima, with Entombment to follow at East Lawn Cemetery. ROUTLEY, Candida D., died peacefully on Monday, June 5, 1995. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Routley, who treasures 43 years of love and companionship.
Candida was born in Vienna, Austria in 1918. Her father was Austrian; her mother was English. She lived and went to school in Queens, New York and worked as a receptionist in New York City, and as model in Miami Beach. She married Jack in 1953 and lived in England, Malta, London, Paris, and Norfolk, Virginia during Jack's Navy career. They moved to Orange County, California while Jack worked with Hughes Aircraft Co. and retired to Tucson in 1987.
After years of heroic battles against declining health, Candy could no longer overcome her medical problems. She died in relaxed and peaceful surroundings in the University Medical Center. She received outstanding and caring medical support. Now may she rest in peace.
A Memorial Service will be held in EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. on Monday, June 12, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. No flowers please, donations to the Arizona Kidney Foundation.
SEARCY, Herbert L., 70, died peacefully on June 5, 1995. A librarian, he retired to Tucson from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse in 1981. Born in Carrollton, KY., he first taught high school in Harlan County in eastern Kentucky where he learned to care for and aid the less fortunate in life. Later he taught English at the University of Missouri before turning to librarianship. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois where he also revised foreign-language cataloging. He was always an honor student, a member of AAUP and Beta Phi Mu. He was a dedicated traveler and on his 40 trips to Europe he spent many hours studying art and architecture. He was a liberal member of the Democratic Party, a member of ACLU, and a kind and gentle supporter of the hungry and the homeless. He is survived by cousin in Kentucky, and Roy Nelson Van Note of Tucson. Funeral Services will be held at St. Michael's and All Angels on Saturday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment of his ashes in the church burial ground. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his favorite charity, St. Michaels's Meals Program, East Fifth Street at Wilmot Road.

WAGNER, Florence Rose, 78, of Tucson, died June 1, 1995. Survivors include daughter, Susan Cromwell of Tucson; son, John (Jody) Wagner of Lakewood, CO; brothers, Charles Hlavaty of NJ, Frank Lavaty of CT and Joseph Hlavaty of CT; grandchildren, Cathy Cromwell, Jeff, Peter, Nathan, Daniel, Matthew and Gwen Wagner. Mrs. Wagner has resided in Tucson for the past 19 years moving here from New York. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1989. She will be missed by us all. Private Services were held. WARNER, Anita Clark, 77, of Tucson, died June 6, 1995. Survivors include sister, Mrs. Jeff Manzer of PA; daughter, Sally Hose of Sequim, WA; grandchildren, Timothy and Shannon Giorgi; great grandson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Warner moved to Tucson in 1946 and was a longtime secretary for the State of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Warner in 1968. CECIL, Harold V., 78, of Tucson, died June 1, 1995. Survived by wife, Geneva; children, Bill Rankhorn, Barbara Brown, Joe Rankhorn and Pat Bodnar, all of Tucson; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. GEE, Nay Ning (Joe Gee), retired grocer in partnership with his wife, the late Tom Shee Gee (Tiu Gok Gee) died at 90 on June 1, 1995 in California. Born in Toisan County, Guangdong Province, China, he immigrated by himself to the U.S. at the age of 14. After eight years, he journeyed to China to marry, then returned to the U.S. in 1929 and moved to Tucson. During his 63 years in Tucson, the family operated several businesses, including Star Market, State Grocery, Star Mercantile and Gee's Star Fine Foods. Several years after retiring, he moved to Northern California. A prominent community leader, he was active in such civic organizations as the WWII War Bond Dive, Community Chest, Chinese American Citizens Alliance, Tucson Chinese Church, Guomingdang, Tucson Chamber of Commerce, Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Tucson Chinese Community Center and Chinese American Senior Citizen Center. He is survived by a son; six daughters and their spouses, Dr. Franklin and Margaret Gee, CA, Tammy and Tong Shui, NY, Helen and Lawrence Chew, CA, Ruth and Dr. Roy Wong, CA, Jeane and Richard Wong, CA, Emma Gee and Yuji Ichioka, CA, Virginia and Clarence Bakken, CA. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were held June 2 in Palo Alto, CA.
