HARMON, Rowenah P., 86, passed away on June 22, 1995. Wife of the late Col. Kenneth B. Harmon; beloved sister of, Francis C. Peters and Mary Ann Weinper; cherished 'Auntie' of many nieces and nephews; and warm, witty friend of so many. Rowenah, a proud Arizona native, was a dedicated employee of the U.S. Government. She was responsible for the civilian work force supporting the U.S. Army's Ordinance Department during World War II and was a pioneer who introduced women into what had been an all male work environment. As the war intensified, this action on her part ensured the supply of munitions as more men were called to military service. She later served as Postmaster of Avery, CA., prior to her retirement. A celebration of her life was conducted on June 25th at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY in Tucson. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM., on Tuesday, June 27.
KLUKAS, Joan M., 40, Tubac, AZ. Born in Milwaukee, WI November 16, 1954. Found heavenly peace June 23, 1995 after a devastating two-month battle with colon and liver cancer. Preceded in death by mother, Ruth Klukas. Survived by father and step-mother, Willard and Mary Klukas; sister, Barbara Litton; future brother-in-law, Donald Steinman; sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Jack Burgess; nephews, Timothy (Holly), Daniel, Jeffrey (Cathrine), and Gregory Burgess; and many loved and cherished friends and family members. PRESENT, Paul Stuart, 72, of Tucson, died June 24, 1995. Survived by his wife, Nancy Lou Present of Tucson; sons, Robert John (Deborah Oseran) Present of Tucson, William Aaron (Theresa) Present of NY; daughter, Cynthia P. (Steven) Wool of Tucson; grandchildren, Joshua Present, Claire Pontius, Naomi Present, Rachel Wool, Sonya Wool, Theodore 'Teddy' Present, Lily Wool and Sam Present; sister, Janice (Al) Kivel of Tucson; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Present was a member of one of Tucson's pioneering families. He graduated from Tucson High School and University of Arizona College of Law and was an avid supporter of university sports. He practiced Law in Tucson for over 27 years. He was a partner with his father, Elmer Present in operating Daniels Jewelry Store. He served in the Navy during WWII. Mr. Present was a member of Tucson Conquistadors, former board member of the United Way and Temple Emmanu-El and served on many Civic Boards. RASOR, Virgil Herman, 71 years old, died Thursday, June 22, 1995. He was an area resident for 49 years. JENSEN, Robert D., 71, of Tucson, died June 22, 1995. Preceded in death by parents, J.A. and Olga and brother Roy. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Arlene; sons, Jerry Jensen, Jim Jensen of SD., Don Jensen of D.C.; daughters, Jacki Jones of MN, Barbara Jensen of San Manuel; brothers, Leslie Jensen of SD, Glenn Jensen of NY; sisters, Norma Klinkle of Mesa, Ruth Larson of Tucson, Gladys Amert of SD; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren. A Navy veteran, he received the Purple Heart during WWII, he was the owner of the Jensen Motor Co. of Madison, SD for 35 years. Lifetime member of Benevolent Protectorate Order of Elks and former Exalted Ruler of Manistee Lodge 250 and member of Green Valley Lodge 2592, longtime basketball and football referee, member of Green Valley Kiwanis, founder and first president of Green Valley Michigan Club, member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, member of Friend in Deeds Transportation Group, member of Manistee Knights of Columbus and past president of Haven Men's Golf Club. SEPULVEDA, Rafael, August 30, 1905 – June 22, 1995. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alejandra. He is survived by his son, Jose Luis Sarabia (Delia); his daughters, Bertha Figueroa (William), Celia Oropeza (Armando) and Herminia Reyes; and 18 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and faithful friends. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving father and 'Tata' and as a man of honor and integrity who touched the lives of all who knew him. He was affectionately know as 'El Maestro' to his co-workers at Paul Lime Plant, Paul Spur, AZ where he worked for more than 40 years. SONNER, Alice C., 84, of Tucson, died June 20, 1995. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul Sonner; her sisters, Pauline Clementz and Doris Hunsley; and her nieces and nephew. Mrs. Sonner was born in New Windsor, IL on April 6, 1911. She studied to become a registered nurse and practiced in Peoria, IL at Methodist Hospital for several years and in Galion, OH before she and her husband retired to Tucson. Alice was a generous and gracious lady who will be missed by all who knew her. Following cremation, Mrs. Sonner will be laid to rest in New Windsor, IL. Plans for a memorial service are pending. AVENELL, 'Bill' A.A., entered into eternal rest, at his home, on June 19, 1995. Bill was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, of 29 years, Marjorie Dodd Avenell, son, Jimmy Dare Avenell and his children James Patrick and Kathryn Grace; son, Timothy Roy Avenell and wife Pauline and their daughters, Michele, Roxann and Evevon; His stepson Dale Alan Berman and his children, daughter, Lisa A. Johnson and her husband Sean Johnson and daughter Tricia A. Berman, as well as his close, loving friends Barbara J. and Alicia R. Simmons. He is also survived by former daughters-in-law, Linda Jankowski Pagel and Susan Ring Avenell and daughter-in-love, Anna Cinquemani. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Van Oort and her husband, John Van Oort of Alaska and brother, Wallis Avenell and wife Edythe Avenell of Colorado. Bill was an electronics engineer and retired from Bell Technical Operations, Textron where he spent approximately thirty years of his professional life. He was also associated with Lockheed Corporation in Tucson. Bill was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy, on duty in the South Pacific. Bill was born to Francis J. and Perces Bullard Avenell on May 1, 1924 at Storm Lake, Iowa. He was a devoted son to his parents who preceded him in death as well as a brother, Gerald F. Avenell and a sister in infancy Gwenna Mae Avenell. Bill will be greatly mourned by his family and friends. His quiet, gentle manner will be lovingly remembered, also the love and devotion he gave to his grandchildren.
Distance has no meaning for journeys that must be taken and time matters only as a silent message of continuance imprinted forever by the first step. As the end comes onto welcome view all the breath in my soul rushes ahead to embrace the journeys end
