Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9 at Park Avenue Christian Church, 4635 S. Park Ave.

DOWNEY, Beatrice K., 89, of Tucson, died March 7, 1995. Survived by son, Max J. (Jeanne) Downey of Phoenix; daughter-in-law, Sue Downey; grandchildren, Robert, Beverly and Dayne Downey, Tina Tallent, Terri Patterson, Candi Clausen, Linda Ingram, and Kip Zalley; great grandchildren, Chelsea Nicole Zally, Cindy Tallent, Aaron Tallent, Jennifer Patterson, Gabriel Patterson, Julie Clausen, Jaquie Clausen, Tami Ingram, Bubbie Ingram, Melody Ingram, Tiffany Ingram, and Scott Ingram.
Mrs. Downey has resided in Tucson since 1936.
She has been a member of St. Marks Presbyterian Church for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dayne in 1963.
Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. March 9, 1995, Funeral Services will be at St. Marks Presbyterian Church, 3809 E. 3rd St. at 10;00 a.m. Friday, March 10, 1995 with Dr. Paul David Sholin officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the AZ Boys Ranch in the name of Beatrice K. Downey.

ENIS, Eugene M., Jr. “Boy’, 22, of Tucson, died March 5, 1995. Survived by parents, Irma and Eugene G. Enis, Sr., Tucson; brother, Michael Enis; grandparents, Agnes Enis, Michael A. Enis; great-grandmother, Juanita Enis; aunts, Cynthia Encinas, Kathleen Noriega, Veronica Toro, Barbara Toro; uncles, Leroy Toro, Marvin Enis, Gerald Enis, as well as numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at 8090 S. Mission Rd. 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 1995.
Mass will be at San Xavier Mission at 8:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 1995. Burial will follow at San Xavier Mission Cemetery.

HARDESTY, Anthony S., 87, of Tucson, passed away March 5, 1995. He is survived by niece, Margaret A. Bokash of MI; nephew, John Hardesty.
Anthony was very devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sacred Heart and the passion of Christ.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. with Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 1995 at Hudgel’s SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd and Swan.
Funeral Mass will be 9:00 a.m. Friday at St. Josephs Catholic Church.
Private Interment will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.

JOHNSON, Maylean, 61, of Tucson, died March 5, 1995. Survived by AC Rodgers, Sr. of Tucson, AC Rodgers, Jr. of Marana, Floyd Rodgers and Jesse Rodgers, both of Tucson; daughters, Pearl Turner, Christine Rodgers, Daisy Harves, Dorothy Rodgers and Rebecka Rodgers, all of Tucson, Shirley Cisco, MaryAnn Roebuck, both of Rillito; sister, Pauline Green of Tucson; 44 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and many other relatives.
Predeceased by son, Willie B. Rodgers in 1979.
Services Tuesday 1:00 p.m. Bacon Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1218 N. Riverview Blvd. with Elder W. B. Shelby officiating.
Interment Evergreen Cemetery family and friends may call Monday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

JOHNSON, Roy Andrew Jr., 58, of Tucson, died Tuesday, February 28, 1995. Born August 19, 1936 in Chicago, IL.
Survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Stardust; son, Eric of Warrensburg, MO; daughter, Jennifer of Phoenix, AZ; mother, Florence Cunningham of Punta Gorda, FL; sister, Darlene Berg of Tucson; brothers, David Johnson of Magnolia, NJ and Kenneth Johnson of Wooddale, IL; plus many other loving friends and relatives.
He was Professor of Music at the University of Arizona where he taught organ, music theory and counterpoint for 29 years, and was also Director of Graduate Studies in Music for eight years.
He was well known, loved and admired through his teaching and numerous organ performances, both nationally and internationally.
He served as organist at the following Tucson churches: North Minster Presbyterian, Trinity Presbyterian, Catalina Methodist and Ev. Covenant, and previously at churches in Illinois and Michigan.
He was regional representative of the American Guild of Organists as well as past dean of the Southern Arizona chapter, a member of the Organ Historical Society, the Hymn Society of America, Pi Kappa Lambda and Phi Kappa Phi. He was the consultant for new organs at area churches.
He had varied research interests and was an avid stamp collector.
Friends may call at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott, on Friday, March 10, 1995 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at Catalina Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd.
Donations may be made to the Roy Johnson Memorial Fund established to add stops to the new organ at the U of A and to provide scholarships for students in the study of organ at the U of A.
Donations may be sent in care of North Minster Presbyterian Church, 2450 E. Ft. Lowell.
Interment to follow at East Lawn Cemetery.
Arrangements by BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

JONES, Virginia H., 91, of Green Valley, AZ died March 5, 1995.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Jones and her son, Donald O. Jones.
She is survived by daughter, Patricia (Charles J.) Pierce of Green Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Charles, Sharon, Debbie, Keith and Kevin; great grandchildren, Carrie, Shawna, Travis, Jeff, Joshua, Kelly, Donald, Megan, and Hannah; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial Services were held Tuesday, March 7, 1995 at Desert View Baptist Church in Green Valley with Pastor Pete Peterson officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundation.

KOTTWITZ, Eleanor M. (MAYNARD), 75, of Tucson, passed away March 6, 1995.
Survived by husband, Arthur; children, Patricia (Scott) Higgins of Tucson, Philip (Beverly) Maynard of Mesa and Paul (Lael) Maynard of MN; grandchildren, Craig, Brian, and Todd Courson, Matthew and Marybeth Maynard, Daniel and Drew Maynard; sisters, Della Jaster of Tucson and Eldine May of Glendale, AZ.
Services 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9th EVERGREEN MORTUARY with Pastor Rick Mensing of Ascension Lutheran Church officiating, burial Evergreen Cemetery.

LAMBERT, Dorothy E., 77, of Tucson, died March 6, 1995. Survived by husband, Robert L.; son, LeRoy (Mary) of Chino, CA; daughter, Ellen (Harold) Burtzloff of Tucson; three grandchildren.
Friends may call Thursday, March 9, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd., where funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday.
Burial will follow in East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

LANDIS, Jay, 70, of Tucson, died Tuesday, March 7, 1995. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Pauline; daughter, Susan Kelley; son-in-law, Mike Kelley; sons, Forrest Landis, Scott Landis; grandchildren, Michelle Kelley, Steven Kelley, all of Tucson; and brother, Dean Landis of Portland, OR.
Jay served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in World War II.
After the war he returned to Oregon, and was a commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor, flew for the Atomic Energy Commission and for an aerial mapping company all over the U.S. In 1959 he moved his family to Arizona and began a new career selling construction and mining equipment.
The last few years he had mining operations in Arizona and Oregon until he retired in 1989.
He was a very special husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Memorial Service 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 1995 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., with Pastor J.C. Joiner of New Testament Baptist Church officiating.

LILLMAN, John Jr., passed away suddenly March 6, 1995.
Born September 12, 1965. He will be dearly missed by his mother, Gloria, sisters and brother and good friends, Pete, Pam and Joe.
Johnny was a friend to all and an enemy to none.

MCALLISTER, Lydia, 85, died March 6, 1995. She moved to Tucson in 1951 from Wheeling, WV.
Preceded in death by husband, Elmer A. in 1970.
She is survived by four children: sons, Edward E. and Elmer Ray; daughters, Dorothy Rice and Betty Klein, all of Tucson; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 8 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 East University Blvd., where Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 9 at 11:00 a.m.

PRICE, Frederick B., 71, born August 20, 1923, died March 5, 1995.
Survived by wife, Betty; stepdaughter, Sandra Gockley; three grandsons; and 1 great grandson, all of UT.

SHANKS, Virginia Lucas, 81, a 43 year resident of Tucson, entered into rest March 5, 1995.
Virginia was a retired employee of Kitt Peak observatory and is survived by sister, Lucille Petering of Tucson and Myrtle Stamey of Hutchinson, KS and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 10 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Rev. Fred Wood officiating.
Internment will be in Lexington, MO.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, P.O. Box 44253 Tucson, AZ 85733 or a charity of your choice.

SMYER, Jeannette, 85, died Saturday, March 4, 1995.
Survived by son, Richard I. Smyer; two granddaughters, Gretchen Aronoff and Karen Adams; four grandchildren, Mary, Leah and James Aronoffand Rose Adams.
Friends may call one hour prior to Services which will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 10, 1995 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd.
Burial to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
