MARSHALL, George, 89, of Tucson, passed away March 31, 1995. Survived by his wife, Maud of Tucson; son, Raymond D. (Papan) of Tucson; daughters, Betty (David) Hartley of MI, Wilma (Duane) Grice of MI; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Janice. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 5th at First Church of God, 3355 N. Fontana. ORTIZ, Alicia O., 88, of Tucson, passed away April 1, 1995. Survivors include: children, Celia (Sally), O. Medina, Aurdra (Gordie) O., Valdez; 11 grandchildren, Carolina, Yolanda, Bernardo, Bernice, Oscar, Francisco, Betty, Daniel, Veronica, Angela; he was preceded in death by Margarita; 26 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 1995 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church, 801 N. Grande, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered, Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Interment will be at Holy Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Bernard O. Medina, Daniel E. Valdez, Francisco O. Romo, Steven A. Heimbach, John R. Paz, Alfonso O. Gallardo and Joey Rodriguez. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

STEIR, Harry B., 84, of Tucson, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 1995. Loving father of Barbara (Charles) Bryant, Samuel (Alicia) Steir, Nancy (Joe) Valdez, Phyllis Steir, Dennis (Dorothy) Steir, William (Gale) Steir, Edwin Steir, Terrence (Janet) Steir; also remembered by 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, John and Kenneth; sisters, Ruth Bonsall and Marjorie Petkash. Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 1995 at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway, with Rev. Lou Runion officiating. Remembrances may be made to Community Hospice or to your favorite charity. Arrangements by Hudgel’s SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd and Swan.

STOECKLE, Bernard F., 73, passed away March 30, 1995. Husband of, Beverly Stoeckle of Tucson; father of, David G. (Sandee) Stoeckle of Las Vegas; brother of, Helen Gregory, Agnes Long, Louis Stoeckle, and Vincent Stoeckle, all of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Ashley L. Stoeckle and Jodee L. Watts, both of Las Vegas, also survive. Mr. Stoeckle was preceded in death by son, John M. Stoeckle. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and retired from the postal Service after many years of service as a letter carrier, and a member of V.F.W. Post #549. Memorial Service 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the V.F.W. Post #549, 1884 S. Craycroft, with Chaplin Earl Baum officiating. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

ALAN, Jean Erdeen, 85, of Tucson, died March 30, 1995. Survived by sisters, Miriam Clapp of Tucson, Rosemary Holmes of Winamac, IN, Marion Baker of Santa Fe Springs, CA, Jacqueline Murphy of San Diego, CA; brother, Robert C. Shobe of CA; two nieces and two nephews. Predeceased by husband, Albert Alan. Services Monday, 11:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile, with Rev. Don L. Brummet, Senior Pastor, Catalina United Methodist Church officiating. Interment at a later date in Christina Union Cemetery, Garrett, IN.

AQUINO, Beatriz C., 85, a Tucson resident for 58 years, passed away March 30, 1995. Preceded in death by her husband, Manuel and son, Manuel C. “Lito’ Aquino. Survived by daughters, Carmen (Rafael) Vingochea and Beatrice (Paul) Romo; sons, Jesus (Carolyn), Raul, Victor (Norma), Jaime (Hope) and David (Cecilia) Aquino. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 2, 1995 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

BENNETT, Olin L., 78, of Tucson, formerly of Randolph, NY, died Sunday (March 19, 1995) in his home. He was born February 20, 1917, in Cleveland, OH. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army as a Tech 5 with Battery C, 8098th Division of AAA Battalion. Prior to retirement in 1972, he was employed for 27 years by the Rochester Telephone Company as a service technician and installer. Earlier, he was a professional baseball player with the Rochester Triple A farm team of the St. Louis Cardinals. Surviving are two sons, John L. Bennett of Jamestown, William O. Bennett of San Antonio, TX; four daughters, Barbara J. Classon of Green Hurst, Sandra L. Overlease of Great Falls, MT, Eilene J. Fleisher of Chelsea, MA, Patricia A. Johnson of Steamburg; and 14 grandchildren; and Marilyn McCool of Tucson, with whom he made his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Irene J. Shaw, whom he married in 1952, and who died December 16, 1969. Funeral Services April 3, 1:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave.

CIDONE, Jay Anthony, 22, resident of Tucson, died March 29, 1995. Survived by father, Jay Cidone; mother and stepfather, Sidney and James Smith; son, Joshua Cidone; sisters, Charlene Cidone, Jody Friedinger Woods; grandmothers, Alice Bohannon and Mayme Smith, all of Tucson. Jay was a loving son, brother and father. Services Sunday 1:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY. Friends may call one hour prior to service time, EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile.

DeVRY, Eva Villaescusa, a native of Tucson, passed away March 30, 1995. Preceded in death by her husband, Irving DeVry, former owners of DeVry and Sons Brick Company. Survived by great niece, Eva Lynn Devincenzi (Cox); great nephew, Arthur J. Villaescusa. Also survived by five great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 3, 1995 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (Center Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered on Tuesday, April 4th, 9:00 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. HINTZEN, Catherine Valerie Traibush, died Tuesday, March 28, 1995 at Mission Hospital, Mission Viejo, California. She was 42. She was born in Boulder, Co July 5, 1952, the daughter of Joan Flint Traibush and E. Victor Traibush. She attended Boulder Schools, graduating from Boulder High in 1970. She earned her BA in Anthropology with academic honors at the University of Arizona, Tucson. On October 12, 1974 she and Paul Michael Norman Hintzen were married in Glenwood, Minnesota. They lived in Tucson; Adelphi, Maryland; Las Vegas, Nevada and most recently Orange County, California. She was employed as a court clerk and then as a court reporter in Maryland and subsequently at Pima County Superior Court, Tucson. She is survived by her parents, both of Boulder; and her husband, Paul and daughter, Calliandra, Orange County; three brothers survive, Jon Traibush, Gustavus, Alaska, Tim Traibush, Boulder, Tom Traibush, Gustavus, Alaska; and her uncle, Arthur Flint, De Kalb, Illinois survives. Cremation was held. Memorial contributions may be sent to Arizona Nature Conservancy, 300 E. University Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85705. 622-3861.

JARBOE, Robert Elmer, 67, of Tucson, died March 30, 1995 after a long battle with cancer. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert T. and Maude Jarboe of Indianapolis, IN; and a sister, Mary Thomasine. Born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, Bob moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 1979 and came to Tucson in 1983. He retired from U-Haul of Southern Arizona in 1994 after 13 years. Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Louise; son, Robin (Sallie) of Scottsdale; and daughter, Julianna (Mike) Kevershan of Tucson. He will be dearly missed by his three grandchildren, Zachary, 10, Emilie, five, and Kaitlyn, two. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Edwina (George) Carney of Ft. Wayne, IN; and a brother, Herbert (Cathy) Jarboe of Indianapolis. Friends may call Sunday, April 2, 1995 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at ADAIR AVALON CHAPEL, 8090 N. Northern Ave. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 3, 1995, 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Shannon Rd.

JOHNSON, Karl Burton, 75, passed away March 30, 1995. Husband of, Mary Johnson of Tucson/Alaska; father of, Debra E. Johnson Scott, Bruce C. Johnson and Burton A. Johnson, all of AK; grandfather of, Stephanie Johnson, Brian Johnson, Brett Johnson, and Chad Scott, all of AK; brother of, Robert K. Johnson of Tucson, Ardyce Lohmeyer of MN and Corrine Johnson of MN; brother-in-law, Donald H. Sather of MN also survives. Memorial Services 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 3, 1995 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Family request contributions to the Lou Gehrig Foundation, 185 Madison Ave, New York, NY, 10016.

MACDONALD, Angelina, 57, of Tucson, entered into rest March 27, 1995. Survived by son, Willie MacDonald; sister, Jessie (Gene) Herrera, Chris Lopez, Alicia Dugar and Carmen Lopez; brothers, Edward (Theresa), Raul (Angie) and Ruben (Linda) Lopez; and many nieces and nephews. She was instrumental in raising Mary and Joseph Riley’s children. Angelina was a beautician and owner of Queens Choice Beauty Salon for many years. Burial of cremains will be Monday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, with Pastor G. McClure officiating.

MAIER, John A., 71, died Thursday, March 30, 1995. Survived by wife, Audrey L. Maier; son, Ronald J. Maier of MI; and daughter Carol S. Maier of Tucson; and two sisters and three brothers. Friends may call Sunday, April 2, 1995 from 2:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Funeral Services will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 1995 with Pastor Mark Lauterbach officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

RILEY, Benita Mary “Nita’, age 44, of Tucson, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 1995. Born on October 4, 1950 in St. Paul, MN. Nita is survived by devoted husband of 22 years, Paul J. Riley II; loving mother, Berniece E. Baillargeon of Albuquerque, NM; loving brother, William B. Walfoort of Stillwater, MN; and her grieving “best friend’ sister, Lucy Mary Dron of Albuquerque, NM. Nita is preceded in death by her father, Benedict J. Baillargeon and brother, Bernard T. Walfoort. She was a former resident of Casa Grande and Arizona City, and graduated from the University of Arizona. Nita was a dedicated, caring educator with the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) #1 for the past 18 years, and formerly was at Salpointe Catholic High School, 1976 to 1977 and at Santa Cruz Union High School, Eloy AZ, 1972 to 1976. She receivedthe TUSD President’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 1993, and was named to Who’s Who of America’s Teachers for 1994 and 1995. Nita was a Scholastic Journal Advisory Board National Consultant, 1976 to present; a member of American Federation of Journalism Teachers, 1992 to present, and the national state and local chapters of the National Education Association, 1972 to present. Nita was affiliated with Delta Zeta Sorority, 1968 to present, Tucson Panhellenic Association, 1972 to present, Casa de los Ninos, 1976 to present, and the Humane Society Auxiliary of Tucson, 1990 to present. Remembrances may be made to the Humane Society in lieu of flowers. Nita will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. “More today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow.’ Visitation will be held Saturday, April 1, 1995, at 3:00 p.m., with services at 4:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. TAYLOR, Richmond D. Jr., 76, died March 28, 1995. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Florence; son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Sandra Taylor of NY; grandchildren, Bryan, Amanda, Joel, Christopher and Matthew; great grandchildren, Rachel, Steven, and Brian Jr.; brothers, Robert, Gerald, Arthur, and Charles. Mr. Taylor was a member of the V.F.W. Post #549, Past Commander of V.F.W. Post #478, Binghamton, NY, Past County Commander in NY, and a volunteer of the VA Medical Center with 5000 hours of service. He was preceded in death by two sons and one brother. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 3, at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, with Dr. Wayne North officiating, with full Military Honors by Davis-Monthan AFB Honor Guard. VALENCIA, Amada D., 76, of Tucson, passed away March 30, 1995. Survived by daughters, Cecilia Cristo and Alice (Jim) Horton; son, Tony (Yolanda) Cristo; sisters, Bertha Figueroa and Hortencia Delgado; brothers, Magdaleno, Paul and Victor Delgado. Also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday April 2, from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (Center Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Monday 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima, 1950 W. Irvington Rd. Interment will follow Holy Hope Cemetery.
