FU LIN, Lan-Yin, 70, of Taiwan, died April 3, 1995. She came to Tucson in January to stay with her loving son, Chao-Yi Fu; and is also survived by her mother, Chao-Chich Lin in Taiwan. KELLEY, Raymond L., 80, of Tucson, formerly of Chicago, died March 30, 1995. He honorably served in the United States Navy from 1941 until 1945. WALBURN, James H., entered into the arms and presence of our Savior and Lord on March 30, 1995. He was born October 16, 1924 in Danville, PA. Attended Philadelphia Bible College. He was a decorated veteran of WWII in the South Pacific, Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. Recipient of the Silver Star, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and numerous other achievement medals. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathaline Anna; and children, Rebecca Ann Thomas of Tucson, David James Walburn of Houston, TX and Sarah Ann Walburn of Tucson; aunt, Wilhelmina Shields of Selinsgrove, PA; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. FRIEDMAN, Frank J., retired attorney, born in Birmingham, AL, passed away at home on March 31, 1995. Husband of Mollie, father of Madeleine Shulman of Tucson, Vicki Gunther of Snowflake, AZ and Judith Bizar of Northbrook, IL; also survived by brother, Harry Friedman of Newberry, FL; sister, Rose Ward of Huntsville, AL; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. HANDMAKER, I.H. “Murf’, was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 4, 1908. He was the first United States born son of Russian immigrants, Sophie and Harry Handmaker. After graduation from 5th Avenue High School in Pittsburgh, he went to work and eventually formed Automotive Supply Commune with his brother, Phil, and then moved to Johnstown, PA. He married Mamie Selma Bloom and they had three children, Grace, Sara Ruth and Hirsch. In 1944 the family moved to Tucson where he joined with other local Jewish families and became a founder and benefactor of Congregation Anshei Israel, the Tucson Jewish Community Center, and the Hebrew Free Loan. He led the effort to form the Handmaker Jewish Nursing Home for the Aged, named in his honor, the forerunner of Handmaker Jewish Services for the Aged, a nationally recognized institution devoted to the non-sectarian and non-profit care of the elderly. After the death of his wife, Mae, he married Ida Roberts who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Sara Block of Tucson and his son, Hirsch of Phoenix; sisters, Jean Sparks of Atlantic City, NJ and Mary Supowitz Cooperman of Tucson as well as seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His daughter, Grace, preceded him in death in 1976. After the sale of his Arizona business, Complete Auto and Home Supply, “Murf’ Handmaker served on the Boards of Directors of several public companies, including MEI Corporation, Texas Air and its successor, Continental Airlines. He was a member of the Masonic Order and El Zaribah Temple of the Shriners, Elks Club and was a Director of the YMCA. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. Congregation Anshei Israel, 5550 E. 5th St. with Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky officiating. Interment Congregation Anshei Isreal Section of Evergreen Cemetery. HATCHER, Wilbert H. (Bert), 78, of Tucson, died March 30, 1995. He was born in Tucson and was the second son of Arizona pioneers Burrell R. and Estella Hatcher. He graduated from Tucson High School and the University of Arizona. He was fluent in Spanish and an expert horseman. He served in the U.S. Calvary and as Capitan in the 1st Armored Division, Company A, Past President of Lions Club International and the Executive Association of Tucson. Preceded in death by wife, Majorie M. Hatcher and son, Michael M. Hatcher. Survived by daughter, Kathleen Chambers and son-in-law, Ed Chambers; grandchildren, Robert E. and Alexandra Chambers all of Littleton, CO; and a brother, B.
