WILLIAMS, Arthur G. Williams, 2nd Lt. Ret. USA 10th Cavalry, (Buffalo Soldier, Colored Army), 85, passed away Friday, April 14, 1995. Preceded in death by wife, Beatrice A. in 1992, he is survived by sons, Arthur G. Williams, Jr. of Tucson, Kenneth Q. Williams of Mesa, AZ, Allen N. Williams and Brian M. Williams, both of Tucson; sister, Dorothy Anderson of TN; great grand-niece, Vanessa Williams of NY; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Williams served in the Armed Forces for over 30 years, including the European and Aleutian Islands Theaters of Operation during WWII, at which time he served in the same unit with Jackie Robinson. Following the War, he served as 2nd in Command of the Prison Garrison during the Nuremberg War Crimes Trial. Funeral Service 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Cryptside service to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery with Military Honors by Davis Monthan Air Force Base. Friends may call at the Mortuary Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

WONG, Dang Shee, 92, born in Canton, China and a Tucson resident for the past 75 years, entered into rest Easter Sunday, April 16, 1995. Survived by sons, Robert Seen Wong, Ralph Wong, Alfred (Lillian) Wong and Dr. Roy (Ruth) Wong; daughters, Cleo Yee, Mary M. Yee, Tiny Mae Wong, Rosalie Wong, Louise (Raymond) Lee and Shirley A. Robb; grandsons, Andy (Maria) Yee, Marty, Craig S. (Sharon), Dr. Jeffrey R., Edward S. Wong and Darin P. Robb; granddaughters, Stephanie (Dr. David) Walters, Mary Ann (Victor) Ong, Lisa (Cliff) Ivey, Elaine (Kenn) Chan, Cindy (Mitch) McCoy, Kimberly (Grant) Lee and Valerie Ann Robb; 14 great-grandchildren. Friends may call 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 1995 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. BUFFINGTON, Robert F., 59, of Tucson, passed away April 14, 1995. Survived by his mother, Elva (Edgar) Cates of Tucson; sons, Kenneth Buffington of TX, Robert J. (Kelly) of TX; daughters, Doris Ann Barron of TX, Becky (Kyle) Mock of TX; 11 grandchildren; sister, Sandra (Don) Wehr of PA; brothers, Learchie (Louise) Buffington, of TX, Clarence (Dixie) Buffington of TX. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy on April 4, 1995. Friends may call at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. CASOLA, Patricia S., 67 years old, died Friday, April 14, 1995 in Tucson. Survived by one daughter, Patricia Dowd of Brooklyn, NY; one son, Wesly Casola of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Mary Caldemone of Tucson; one grandchild. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 19, 1995 at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where Scripture services will be said. DALTON, Woodrow W. “Woody’, born in Elgin, AZ October 30, 1913, the son of the late Albern C. and Lorina Rector Dalton. Preceded in death by brothers, Raymond, Howard and Claude and sisters, Shirley and Hettie Lee. Survived by wife, Claudia; sons, David, Bryan, Mark and Daniel; daughter-in-law, Debra; also cousins, Lanna, Grace, Sara and Gene plus many nieces and nephews. Woody attended school in Elgin, Patagonia and graduated from High School in Nogales, AZ. He worked with his father at the Dalton Dairy until enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1941. He retired from the Air Force in 1967 after which he worked for an office equipment company for 10 years. Woody was a man of few words but always was there for his family. Woody worked hard all his life to bring security and comfort to his extended family and brought a lot of happiness to many of his close friends. Funeral Services Thursday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Memorial gifts may be sent to Lutheran Social Ministry’s Tucson Resprite Program, 1222 N. Campbell, Tucson, AZ 85719.

DURNIAC, Anna Marie, 71, of Tucson, passed away April 16, 1995. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Afinowich. She is survived by husband, Dan; son, Jim Afinowich of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren, Amber and Robin Afinowich; brothers, Jim Leary of Milwaukee, WI, Wayne Leary of Fairfield Bay, AR; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was very active in the Church Guild of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. Friends may call Tuesday, April 18, 1995 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., (1 1/2 blocks N. of Grant). Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 1995 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church with interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. ESPINOZA, Ruben T., 70, of Tucson, passed away April 16, 1995. Survived by wife, Sara Espinoza; mother-in-law, Rosa Gonzalez; daughters, Philamena (Fred) Lopez, Cecilia (Frank) Murrieta, and Margaret (Richard) Quiroz; son, Ruben (Kathy) Espinoza, Jr.; sisters, Delia Lopez and Berta Ruiz; brothers, Gilbert, Henry and Rene Espinoza. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 1995 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday, 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Cathedral. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. HELM, Stephen Gale, 28, born October 24, 1966, was murdered April 6, 1995. Preceded in death by his mother, Eva Loretta Hicks Helm after a long illnessin 1990. Stephen is survived by two children in Colorado; his father, Ron Helm, Sr. of Tucson; brother, Ron Helm, Jr. of Commerce City, CO; sister, Melody Younger of VA; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gale Lueck of Commerce City, CO. Stephen and his father resided in Pinetop, AZ from September to December 1994. Stephen returned to Tucson on March 11, 1995. Interment was in Salem, Indiana where he was laid to rest beside his mother. A Memorial Service in Tucson will be announced.

LANGFITT, Cecilia Mary, 80, of Tucson, passed away April 17, 1995. She is survived by a family that loves her: her brother, Bruce Harriman; daughters, Jeannine Chapelle, Judy (John) Koopen and Beverly Shaw; son, Bruce Grant; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was born August 19, 1914 in Boone, IA, to Benjamin and Loretta Herriman. She earned her R.N. from Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge, IA in 1936. Cecilia cared for many during her career, including serving as a private nurse for Mamie Eisenhower in 1945. In retirement, Cecilia worked beside her brother to provide for the needy in Tucson through the St. Vincent de Paul Society, of which she was an honorary member. She was also a lifetime member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. Friends may call Wednesday, April 19, 1995 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., (1 1/2 blocks N. of Grant). Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 20, 1995 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church with interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. MALLETT, Janet O., 62, a Tucson resident for 61 years, died April 12, 1995. Preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Thyra Oxnam; and loving husband, Frank. Survived by brother and wife, Herbert “Dick’ and Elizabeth “Betty’ Oxnam; daughter and her husband, Jeanita and John “Steve’ Osborne; grandchildren, Liane and Christopher; in-laws, LeRoy and Olivia Cromwell; seven nieces and nephews. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, DAR, Mayflower Society and did volunteer work for the American Red Cross for many years. Visitation at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, Tuesday, April 18, 1995 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 1995, with Rev. MARSHALL, Scott A., 36, of Tucson, died April 15, 1995. Survived by mother, Marci Marshall; brothers, Craig Marshall and Bruce (Carol) Marshall; niece, Alexandrea; and nephew, Adam. MARTINEZ, Consuelo, 65, of Tucson, passed away April 15, 1995. Survived by husband, Enrique A. Martinez; daughters, Margaret (Jeff) Wemmer, Stella Martinez, Frances (Ernie) Santa Cruz, Erma (Danny) Sandander and Erlinda (Martin) Lopez; sons, Enrique (Cathy) Jr., Phillip Victor (Barbara) and David Martinez; brother, Juan (Juanita) Moraga; also survived by 17 grandchildren. MCDONALD, Mildred A., 85, passed away April 11, 1995. “Millie’ is survived by her son, Howard Franks of Tucson; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Blanche Novak of Berwyn, IL and her family. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 21, 1995 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, located at 1949 E. Helen St., with Pastor Charles Riggs officiating. ROSE, Harold M., 90, passed away April 14, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Helen; and two sons, Stanley Rose of Missoula, MT and Thomas Rose of Bryant, IN. Mr. Rose’s first wife, Ruth and daughter, Jane pre-deceased him. Interment will be at South Lawn Cemetery and a Memorial Service will be held at St. James Methodist Church, Sunday, April 23 at 3:00 p.m.

SHORT, William N., 42, of Tucson, passed away April 15, 1995 after a brief illness. Survived by his parents, Dean and Mildred Short; brothers, Jeff, Dean II, and Terry. Bill also leaves a loving extended family and many special friends, including the Mayer family, “Max’ and others. Bill spent many years in the family’s restaurant business and in recent years achieved recognition as a professional artist. The family requests that remembrances be made to your favorite charity. Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. with Pastor Jerry Hagelin of First Evangelical Free Church officiating.
