TERRY, Charles Thaddeus, 42, much-adored husband, father, son, brother and uncle, passed from us Saturday, April 29, 1995. Thad is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Ana; his daughter, Elena, his mother; Mrs. Marian Terry; his father, Anthony D. Terry; his brothers, Anthony D. (Jeanette) Terry, Jr. and Thomas Langdon (Emmeline) Hill Terry; his sister, Anne Terry (Michael) Morales; and the luckiest group of nieces and nephews the world has ever known, Brian, Amy, Drew, Matthew, Addie, Tiffer, Benjamin, Trey, Luz, Tess and Alden. Thad was born and raised in Tucson. He attended Fort Lowell and Whitmore Elementary schools, Townsend Junior High and Catalina High School. He received his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree with honors from the University of Arizona. Many knew Thad as a wonderful, funny and gifted teacher. As a swim coach and instructor, Thad joyfully led such local teams as the Lighthouse YMCA, the Eastside YMCA, and Green Hills. As a teacher of multiply handicapped children, Thad worked for Tucson Unified School District at Urquides, Howenstine and Myers-Ganoung schools. In the radio scanning community, Thad was recognized as a brilliant and tenacious researcher with a special fondness for The Thunderbirds and Blue Angels. His loving spirit was infectious and it was tough to even take Thad out for a burger without him being recognized and hugged by past students and colleagues. Thad’s greatest achievement, however, was his marriage to Ana Rita Elias, the birth of their daughter Elena Lucia, and the anticipated September birth of their beautiful new daughter. In their far-too-short time together, Thad, Ana and Elena taught us all the meaning of true love, true devotion and true happiness. Thad will also be very much missed by the Elias family: Albert and Viola Elias, Albert and Sarah Elias, Richard and Emily Elias, and Aida Elias. All who knew Thad are invited to help celebrate his extraordinary life. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3, 1995 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. that same evening at St. Augustine’s Cathedral. Thad’s funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. also at St. Augustine’s with interment following at Holy Hope Cemetery. While Thad really did like flowers, the family asks that donations instead be made to one of his favorite causes, the Special Olympics.
