PRCHAL, Betty June, was called home by our Lord, Jesus on February 6, 1995, at the age of 64. Betty was Ken’s loving wife for over 46 years, devoted mother of Steven, Joseph, and Kathryn (Nick) Mayer and grandmother of Julie, Dana, Alena, and Janelle and Jason, Justin and Nicole. Survived also by sisters, Marie Halla, Alice Nosek and Dorothy (Bill) Reiger of IL, Barbara (Fred) Budinger of CA; and sister-in-law, Ann Stekly of PA; many nieces and nephews and her “Tucson Mother’ Elisa Lerua. Betty always believed that God had sent her to Tucson 40 years ago to relieve her of the rapidly progressing disease of arthritis. In gratitude, she walked many miles for the Arthritis Foundation, Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Volunteer Center, and others, raising thousands of dollars to help those in need. Being a long time friend of Bill W., she was to guide many, with the aid of the 12 Step Program, to a new freedom. Betty was a charter member of Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, belonged to the Czechoslovak-American Club, ASDM, Sonoran Arthropod Studies, and the organizations previously mentioned. She was active in TMC and UMC Cancer Support Groups where her courage was an inspiration to those suffering from the disease of cancer. Personal achievement was secondary to Betty’s ministry to God’s children, walking hand in hand with her Savior, through life and the beauty of God’s world. Honey, Mom, Nana, we all love you dearly and miss you but are comforted by the knowledge that you are at peace and at home with Him. Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11 at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 710 S. Kolb Road, Pastor Eldon Weisheit officiating. SCHMIDT, Virgil J., Sr., 76, of Tulsa, OK, former resident of Tucson, died Monday, February 6, 1995 in Tulsa. Preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Esther Schmidt in 1992. Survived by his children, Richard Schmidt of Wilmington, NC, Esther Fuehrer of Griffith, IN, Betty Hall of Heyreyetta, OK, Virginia Ankarlo of Dalton, IL, Virgil Schmidt, Jr.; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Mr. Schmidt worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 28 1/2 years until his retirement in 1982. Funeral Service 9:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 1995 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. TEUSCHER, Kenneth F., born January 1, 1925 in Newark, OH. Passed February 8, 1995 at University Medical after a long illness. Ken made his home in Tucson for the last sixteen years. He was employed by Brush Wellman form 1982 to 1966. He is proceeded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Elsie; son, Ronald and his wife, Pamela; grandson, Kirk; brother, William and his wife, Helen; sister, Josephine, all of IL; nieces and great nieces, nephews and great nephews. COLE, Russell H., 78, of Oro Valley, passed away February 9, 1995. He is survived by his children, Barbara, Catherine, Fletcher, and Russell Jr.; and grandson, Jason. A native of Grand Rapids, MI., Russell moved to Oro Valley in the early 1980's. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 11 at 3:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. COVINGTON, Florence E., 94, of Tucson, died February 9, 1995. Born January 8, 1901, went to be with the Lord February 9, 1995. Florence was preceded in death by her first husband, Berlin D. Tucker in 1929 and her second husband Gary V. Covington in 1970. She is survived by her daughter, Adelle Kemp; grandsons, Glenn and Gary (Cherie) Donahoe; granddaughters, Audrey J. Frederick and Andrea Kemp; five great grandchildren, Jessy (Erin), Shane, Tara, Sean and Caitlin; and one great great grandchild, Emily Rose. Florence came to Tucson after the death of her husband, Berlin in 1929. She married Gary Covington in 1931, and together they had the Fairway Market on Grant Road and later Speedway Supply which was sold and became the Do-It-Yourself Stores. Mr. and Mrs. Covington were very active in the Masonic and Shriners of Tucson and Florence was a past Matron of Arizona Chapter #2, O.E.S. and served as secretary for eight years. She then served as recorded for Olana Temple #131, daughters of the Nile for 17 years and retired recorder Emeritus. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. FATUR, Joseph J., 76, died Tuesday, February 7, 1995. Husband of Mabel Mary Fatur who died in 1974 and a Tucson resident for the past 18 years from Illinois. Mr. Fatur was a retired Experimental Engineer for General Motors. Since 1985 he has given over 5000 hours of volunteer services at the Tucson Veterans Hospital. His survivors include nine children, Joan-Marie Moss of Chicago, IL, James Fatur of Mt. View, AR, Dorothy Andersen of Cape Girardeau, MO, Katherine Barth of Carterville, IL, John Fatur of Pagosa Springs, CO, Joseph Fatur of Carbondale, IL, Mary Stieb of Thornton, CO, William and Stephen Fatur of Carbondale, IL; 12 grandchildren; brother, John Fatur of Denver, CO; and sister, Madeline Ewing of Anchorage, AK. GONZALES, Louis Jr., 40, born December 22, 1954, passed forward on February 8, 1995. He was at home with his loving family. His wife Lynda Isamell, his sons, Ricardo Luis and Ramon Luis. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Bernice and Richard Jensen; sisters, Jacki (Albert) Leyva, Tracey (Aaron) Frederick, Christy Jensen and many nieces and nephews. Also his special Esther Torres. His physical existence will be missed, however his presence will be with us always. PAGE, Dorothy Bent, 76, died at her home in Green Valley, AZ, January 18, 1995, after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband, Willard H. Page; children, Sharon D. Wimmer and Philip B. Dow, a step daughter, Cathy P. Bernardi; and 11 grandchildren. Dorothy was born in Hartford, CT and graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. She moved to Green Valley from Potomac, Md in 1984. An accomplished landscape painter and interior designer, Dorothy was active in the management of Bent-Page Antiques in Tucson, AZ and a member of the Green Valley Antiques and Collectibles Club. She was a natural organizer and as such was instrumental in founding two Green Valley community-wide programs: Youth on Their Own for homeless high school students and a community wide adult day care program. She was also a member of the Green Valley Community Church’s Committee on Church and Society and the American Association of University Women. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, February 22, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. at the Green Valley Community Church. YEAGER, Daniel, 66, of Tucson, died February 9, 1995 at the V.A. Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine. Daniel was the father of 12, the grandfather of 20, the great grandfather of three. You are dearly loved and will be missed.
ZUMWALT, Deryl B., 78, of Tualatin, OR, died February 8, 1995. He was born and raised on a Wheat Farm in Bickleton, WA., on May 18, 1916. He lived most of his life in the Northwest. He married Betty Williams in 1947 in Vancouver, WA. He had lived in Arizona for 20 years. He was drafted and served his country during WWII in the South Pacific in the Army. He received a field commission and numerous decorations while in the military, retiring as a Captain in the army. He was a life member of the Vancouver, WA, Elks Club. He was a member of several professional engineering societies. He was physically very active in the last few years of his life. He enjoyed horseshoe pitching. He is survived by wife, Betty Zumwalt, OR; daughters, Karen L. Zumwalt, OR, Doreen A. Zumwalt, WY; sisters, Frances Tribe, WA, Ruth Ferguson, WA, Maxine Olson, OR; one granddaughter, Suzanne M.
