COLE, Nina, born September 3, 1898 in Duluth, MN., died February 4, 1995 in Tucson at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George, and an infant daughter, Judith Marie. Nina is survived by her daughter, Ileen Mattson and her husband, Don, of Tucson and her son, Douglas Cole and his wife, Lola, of Coon Rapids, MN; eight grandchildren, Judith, Sonia, Andrea, Colleen, Holly, Scott, Lee, and Jill; 13 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, Clara Campbell of Apache Junction, AZ and Ruth Forgy of MI. Nina became interested in ceramics while still living in MN., and became a skillful artist. She continued her craft during her long residency in Arizona and for many years taught a ceramics class at Council House Apartments where she lived until her recent stroke. She leaves many friends at the apartments, and her long and dear friend, Mabel Barnes of Duluth. Her family applauds her long, active and creative life. A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, February 10, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 545 South Fifth Ave. (at 16th street), The Reverend Robert Williams officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Primavera Foundation, 735 S. Stone, Tucson, AZ., 85701, would be appreciated.

GERHARDT, David G., Gunnery Sgt. USMC Ret., 63, of Tucson, died Monday, February 6, 1995. Born in Highland Park, IL. Son of Alma E. and the late Paul J. Gerhardt Sr. Survived by children, Nan Lanros of Palms Springs, David C. Gerhardt of Gardnerville, NV, Betsy Stokke of Laguna Niguel, CA, Randy J. Gerhardt of Magalia, CA, and Matt J. Gerhardt of Bermuda Dunes, CA; brothers, William J. of Lindenhurst, IL, and Paul J. Gerhardt Jr. of Pavilion, NY; along with nine loving grandchildren and a very special companion, Helen Wagner. Mr Gerhardt served 22 years in the US Marine Corp, and had tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam, as well as Japan and Guam. After retiring Mr. Gerhardt moved to Tucson in 1989 and served with various local law enforcement agencies, including Pima County Sheriffs Department, and Department of Public Safety. Final place of rest will be St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cook County, IL. Memorial Service 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 9 at BRING’S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott, with full Military Honors.
HOOLIHAN, Cindy Lou, 51, died February 5, 1995. Survived by her mother, Ruth Hoolihan of Tucson; two sons, Rusty R. Redinger and his wife, Theresa of Evergreen, CO., and Tony Redinger of Tucson; two sisters, Pat Smith and her husband, Ted of Canada and Judy Hoolihan of MI; and by four nephews. Memorial Services for Mrs. Hoolihan will be held in the ARIZONA MORTUARY Chapel, (7 East University Blvd.) at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9th. MATHEWS, Ronald F. (Frank), 33, a native of Tucson, was tragically taken from us on February 2, 1995, due to a heavy equipment accident. Survived by son, Ronnie Mathews; father, Ronald Mathews; mother Jo Anne Schirka; brothers, Louie Schirka and John Mathews; sisters, Ronda (Pat) Schellde and Suzanne (Ben) Petersen. Frank was a member of the Chiliheads of Arizona, a semi truck driver and a great friend to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but will remain in our hearts forever. SEVERIN, Hurlen, Jr., 71, of Tucson, died Monday, February 6, 1995. Survived by his wife, Toni A. Hurlen; sons, Gene S. Hurlen of MD; Brian M. Hurlen of WA; mother, Emily Hurlen of WA. He was the Treasurer of La Cholla Hills Homeowners Association and a member of the Retired Officers Association. At Mr. Hurlen’s request there will be no services held. DIAZ, Joseph P., 80, died February 7, 1995. Survived by his sisters, Andrea Estrada of MO, and Mary (Alfonso) Prieto of Tucson; brother, Steve (Frances) Diaz of Tucson; several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Diaz was WWII Veteran. Served in the European Theatre, Italy and North Africa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Atanacio and Christina Diaz and brother Fred Diaz. GODEY, Winifred Marie, born September 15, 1921 in Jamestown, NY, died Tuesday, February 7, 1995 in Tucson, AZ. Ms. Godey, daughter of Roy Ernest Godey and Edna Berggren Godey of Jamestown. Ms. Godey graduated from Jamestown High School, married twice, raised four children, retired from banking in Tucson, Ms. Godey is survived by a son, James Louis Neill, Jr. of Williamsville, NY; three daughters, Elizabeth Neill Tobey of Newport News, VA, Margaret Godey Neill and Ann Marie Neill of Tucson; sister Mrs. David L.
