SMITH, Margie J., 75, a resident of Tucson, died January 31, 1995. Survived by daughter, Shirley Harrington; grandchildren, Anna Marie, Tabitha and Shaun Harrington; great grandchildren, Matthew Harrington, Christian Jimerson; brother, Emmett Howell, all of Tucson. She was preceded in death by twin sister, Madge and sister, Geneva. Graveside service 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

VANOVER, Kevin, 10, of Tucson, passed away January 28, 1995. Survived by parents, Renee Ann Vanover and Donald Vanover Jr.; brother, Jesse Riley Vanover; grandmother, Janice A. Indie; grandfather, Donald Vanover Sr.; great-grandmother, Inez Vanover of Tucson; and great-grandparents of Hawaii; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Pima Street Baptist Church, 5056 E. Pima. Arrangements HEATHER MORTUARY .

WOODARD, Chester Allen, a 45 year resident of Tucson, passed away January 29, 1995 at the age of 89. Born September 30, 1905 in Davis City, IA. Mr. Woodard retired from Hughes Aircraft. Survived by his daughters, Mamie L. (Cecil) Holman, and Ann (John) Biazo; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Helen Donaldson. Funeral Service will be held today at 1:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Rev. David Green officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.

COLWELL, Edna E., 86, of Tucson, died January 31, 1995. Survived by husband, Ottis Colwell of Tucson; son, Paul Colwell of Tucson; daughters, Talitha Hopkins of Cardiff, CA and Mary Louise Boyd of Prescott, AZ; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorial Services Saturday 11:00 a.m. Palo Verde Baptist Church with Pastor Martin Jensen officiating. Private interment Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile.

ECKES, Patricia Ellen, age 65, passed away peacefully on January 27, 1995. She spent her youth in Montana and was educated in Nursing in Washington. After living throughout the West she came to Arizona in 1958 where she lived out her life. Pat was a bright and intelligent person who was cherished by many for her generosity and honesty. Pat was one the first nurses at the Air National Guard unit in Tucson; she raised, educated and loved her family; enjoyed golf and bridge; and had many close friends throughout her community. She is survived by her husband, Bob Eckes; her children, Tanna and Darryl; her grandchildren, Ashley, Michelle and Brooke; and the rest of her loving family including her father, John McDonough and siblings, Betty, Jean, Joe, Millie, Jack, Shirley and Kala. She will remain in our hearts and memories from this day forth. There will be no formal services as Pat had requested. Her family is grateful for your personal prayers. Memorial contributions can be made to charities of your choice in memory of Patricia Ellen Eckes.

LINTOW, R. Ernest (Ernie), finished his earthly course February 1, 1995. Husband of Naomi M. Lintow; brother of Cecil D. Lintow and family; father of eight; grandfather of 16; great grandfather of ten. Memorial Service at Valencia Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 430 W. Aragon on Saturday, February 4th at 1:30 p.m.

MORAGA, Fernando P., 77 years old, died January 31, 1995. He was a WWII Veteran. Survivors include, wife, Rosa; son, Manuel (Margie), son, Fernando C. (Margie) Jr. of Tucson; daughters, Norma McKinnon, Elizabeth (Ron) Kelley of CA; brother, Juan (Juana); sister, Consuelo (Henry) Martinez, both of Tucson; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild. Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 1995 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass set for Saturday, February 4, 1995 at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Monica. Military Burial at South Lawn Cemetery.

SMITH, Lonetta, 74, of Paducah, KY., died Thursday, February 2, 1995. Survived by niece, Sharron Lee Eley of Tucson, AZ; two nephews, Dwight Spitzer and Dean Spitzer, both of MI. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 7 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah, KY. Burial will be at Soldier Creek Cemetery in Benton, KY. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee.

SODER, James A., 46 year resident and teacher in Tucson passed away January 30, 1995 at the age of 76. Born July 27, 1918 in Manistique, MI, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, William of Ganado, AZ; daughters, Patricia Dowling, Australia, Barbara Van Blyenburg, Hawaii, Mary Bennett of Tucson; and 12 grandchildren; 7.9 great grandchildren. Also one brother, Rector Soder of Curtis, MI; a sister, Mary Jane Swingle of Atascadero, CA; and several cousins and nieces and nephews. James was a Jr. High and High School Science teacher in T.U.S.D. for many years and three years previously in Sahuarita Elementary. He graduated from Eastern High School, Lansing, MI and M.S.C. (now M.S.U), in East Lansing, with a B.S. in Biology and Bacteriology, followed by a M.Ed. from the University of Arizona in Tucson, plus numerous other courses and institutes from N.A.U., O.B.U., U of A. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and collecting specimens of all kinds. He kept beehives for many years. He was a member of VASA, SABA, PCRTA, American Legion and the DAV and worked with the B.S.A. A memorial service will be held at Hope Methodist Church, 6740 S. Santa Clara, Saturday, February 4th at 4:00 p.m. As per his wishes, his ashes will be spread on Roosevelt Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations for a memorial at Hope Methodist Church.

SPANHOOK, Buell M., 83, of Tucson, died January 31, 1995. He was Born may 23, 1911 in Arthur, IL. Survivors include his wife, Juanita; daughter, Teresa Newell; son, Jon Spanhook; three grandchildren, Tamara Angiulo, Troy Curtis and Chasen Newell; six great grandchildren, all of Tucson; brother, Harold Spanhook of Decatur, IL; and nieces and nephews. Mr. Spanhook was a retired jeweler, barber and real estate realtor. He was a member of Masonic Arthur Lodge #825, Arthur, IL, veteran of WWII, member of VFW #589, American Legion #36 and DAV #18 of Tucson. Memorial Services will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 1995. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association. Inurnment will be in Arthur Cemetery, Arthur, IL., in the family plot.

WEISS, Vyvyan B., 66, of Phoenix, AZ, died February 1, 1995. Born October 4, 1928 in Windsor, Ontario Canada. Survived by daughter, Penny Kienow; son, Bill Weiss; sister, Margaret Deibel; brother, J. D. Sands; and five grandchildren. Private services were held. Contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 3925 E. 5th St., Tucson, AZ 85711 or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 5105 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85013. Arrangements by Hansen Mortuary Phoenix, 944-1561.

ALVAREZ, Danny H., 43, of Tucson, passed away February 2, 1995. Preceded in death by his father, Henry G. Alvarez. Survived by wife, Matilda Alvarez; mother, Mary H. Alvarez; daughter, Kimberly Alvarez; sons, Richard and Francisco Alvarez; sister, Carol Ramirez; brothers, Arcenio, William and Edward Alvarez. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 1995 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Cathedral. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

EDWARDS, Wilmetta M., 84 years old, died Friday, January 27, 1995 at her residence in Burton, MI. She was a Tucson resident from 1935 to 1973. She was a member of the Church of Nazarene. Survived by several cousins. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 1995 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave.

GOMEZ, Julio B., 78, of Tucson, passed away February 3, 1995. Survived by daughter, Rosemary Herran; son, Dr. Richard L. Gomez; five grandchildren, Frank Herran Jr., Denise Herran, Richard C. Gomez, Vanessa Gomez and Lisa Gomez. Also survived by one great grandchild, Alexis M. Parra. Mr. Gomez was a member of the Elks Lodge #385. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 1995 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Cathedral. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

HANLEY, Lauretta M., of Tucson, formerly of Hibbing, MN, died January 31, 1995. Preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Survived by six nieces and nephews; and many close friends in Tucson. Miss Hanley worked for the Telephone Company 43 years as a supervisor in several North Dakota offices. She retired in 1971 and has resided in Tucson until her death. Memorial Mass was held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will be in Hibbing, Minnesota.

ROBSON, Agnes Hanson, 98, of Tucson, died February 3, 1995. Survivors include, cousins, Edna Franzen, Medford, OR and Evelyn Wimer, Portland, OR, as well as several other relatives in Sweden. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. February 6, 1995. Funeral Services will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 1995. Entombment will follow at South Lawn Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church in Agnes’ name.

ROSS, Mylin H., 85, of Green Valley, died at his home February 1, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Green Valley; sons, Alan (Judy) and Jerry (Chris). Friends are invited to the home to visit with the family on Sunday, February 5, from 2 to 5:00 p.m.
