MARCUS, Simon, M.D., 90, of Tucson, died January 28, 1995. Born February 25, 1904 in Montreal, Canada. He was a 1924 graduate of McGill Medical College, member of Pima County Medical Society, and was in practice 24 years in Tucson until retiring in 1981. He was also a member of Congregation Anshei Israel. Dr. Marcus is survived by son, Leslie B. Marcus of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada; sister, Bea Shapiro, Montreal, Canada. Preceded in death by his wife, Fanny in 1971. Graveside Services were held Sunday, January 29, 1995 Congregation Anshei Israel Section of Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Aaron S. Polinsky officiating. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Dr. Simon Marcus. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile.

OSSIAS, MATILDA, 89, of Tucson, passed away on January 15, 1995. Beloved wife of the late Jerry Ossias. She is survived by niece, Ellen (Dr. Jack) Pinnas of Tucson; great-nieces, Michelle Wolfe, Deborah Friedman, Laura Pinnas and Shara Pinnas. Services and interment were held in New Jersey. Arrangements by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 327-6341.

ROWE, Viola L., 85, of Tucson, passed away January 28, 1995. She is survived by sister, Maureen Weber of Tucson; nieces, Peggy Beam of Rochester, IL, Carol Zubeck of Chenoa, IL; nephew, W. H. Weber of Leroy, IL. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 E. Ft. Lowell, Tucson, AZ 85716.

SITES, Rev. Robert A., 63, of Phoenix, died January 27, 1995. Survived by wife, June J. Sites; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Cynthia Sites of Tucson; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Rev. George Flattery III of Carlsbad, NM; five grandchildren, Christina, Rebecca, George IV Flattery and Charity and Jonathan Sites; father and mother, Herbert A. and Nellie E. Sites of Sullivan, MO. Rev. Sites served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. After graduating from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO Rev. Sites served as an Assemblies of God pastor in Missouri and Eastside Assembly of God Church here in Tucson from 1969 to 1984, and most recently served as Arizona District Superintendent for the Assemblies of God Churches from 1984 until the time of his death. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31 at Eastside Assembly of God Church, 1930 S. Wilmot Rd. Interment will take place in Sullivan, MO February 2. Memorial gifts may be sent directly to Arizona District Council, 2009 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ 85006.

WOOD. Arizona pioneer descendent and retired Tucson school teacher, May Belle Wood, 76, died January 28, 1995. Born on February 14, 1918 in Phoenix, AZ to pioneer ranchers, Ysidoro (CK) and June Halleck Olea. Survived by three daughters, Eileen (David) Haga of Phoenix, Roberta (Bob) Russell of Tucson, May (John) Carr of Arlington, VA; and three sons, Michael (Carole) Wood of Tucson, David Wood of Tucson and Paul (Anitra) Wood of Houston, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Cary, Robert, Michelle, Janet, Nicolas and Stuart; brother, Robert Olea; sisters, Jane Kemp, Bebe Clements, Genevieve Crough, Dora Olea, Patsy Rodgers; Wood family members, Josephine Elias, Amalia Moreno and Mercy Carrillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonso Wood. She will be lovingly remembered by all her family, friends and students. Her devotion to family was her greatest gift. Visitation will be held Monday, January 30 at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 31 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church at 4:00 p.m. Friends may contribute to the charity of your choice.

ACKERMAN, Garnes N., 70, of Sahuarita, passed away January 27, 1995. He was born November 8, 1924 in Sioux County, ND, the third son of Ennis Ackerman and Harriet Heichel Ackerman. He is survived by his wife, Doris; two daughters, Judy Kimball of Ashland, OR and Arlys Schad of Tucson; and one son, Brian of Sahuarita. He also leaves behind two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers of Rochester, MN; and one sister of Ft. Bragg, CA. Garnes was a retired financial planner with IDS/American Express. A U.S. Submarine Veteran WWII, he served on the O-4 and the U.S.S. Bluegill, and was a member of the Tucson Cactus Chapter. At his request there will be no services. Arrangements by Hudgel’s SWAN FUNERAL HOME.

BROWN, Bennie Joe, 80, of Tucson, died January 29, 1995. Father of June M. (Marshall) Davis of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; stepfather of Mary of Tucson; brother of Lottie Hatch of Tucson. Funeral Services will be held at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL Tuesday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dale Dawson officiating. Friends may call at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave., (888-1111), Tuesday 10:00 a.m. until service time.

HERNANDEZ, Alice Scott, 42, loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away January 27, 1995. She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Tony, Joe and Robert; daughters, Tanya and Monique; mother Mary J. Scott; sister, Frances Kendall; brother, Donald Scott. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert M. Scott and her brothers, Gilbert T. and Robert J. Scott. Alice was an employee of Hughes Aircraft for 21 years, and was active in professional and community service throughout her career. She was loved and cherished by many because of her kindness and her generous spirit. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Scripture Services at 7:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., (1 1/2 blocks North of Grant). Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 1 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Casa de Los Ninos. Directed by VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 327-6341.

JUNKER, Mary, 95, of Tucson, died January 28, 1995. Survived by daughter, Peggy (Dan) Coyne of Tucson; son, Bill (Chris) Turner of CA; grandchildren, Jeff, Glenn, Mary Ellen Hummer, Tammy Kusian, David, Randy, Bill and Jane Turner; six great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 1431 W. Magee, Wednesday, February, 1st at 2:00 p.m. Private Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee.

MORAN, Patricia Mary “Pat’, born St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1908, died Sunday, January 29, 1995. Preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Moran. She is survived by her son, Edward; granddaughters, Casey and Kelly, all of Tucson. Pat was a longtime volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital; many new babies went home in her hand knitted sweaters. Friends may call at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Tuesday, January 31, 1995 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 8, 1995 at St. Joseph Hospital Chapel. Private Inurnment will be at the Mausoleum of Peace, East Lawn Palms Cemetery. O’DELL, Douglas H. 85, of Duncan, AZ died January 30, 1995. Survived by sons, Melvin (Shirley) O’Dell of Tucson, Robert (Beverly) O’Dell of Farmington, NM; daughter, Donna (Dean) Klingaman of Apache Junction, AZ; brothers, Arch O’Dell of Duncan and Gene O’Dell of Roswell, NM; and four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. POPP, Roger, 48, of Tucson, died Saturday, January 28, 1995. Preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Popp. Survived by wife, Barbara Hayes Popp; daughters, Amanda Popp, Rebecca Miller; two grandsons, Nicholas and Michael Miller; mother, Eleanor (Robert) Vogie; brother, David (Marianne) Vogie; sister, Roberta (Donald) Smith. Mr. Popp was in the Marines and received a Purple Heart, member of F.O.P. Lodge #53, 25 year veteran of Law Enforcement. Volunteer freshman football coach at C.D.O. PRICE, Jennie, 85, of Tucson, died January 29, 1995. She is survived by her husband, Edward; daughters, Delores (Vito) Mannino and Sharron Pollitt; son, Richard (Susie), all of Tucson; sisters, Natalcha M. (Jay) Fuller and Catherine Dee, of Tucson and Stella (Lawrence) Gorski of Lansing, MI; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Bodell of Lansing. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Odilia Catholic Church. Internment at Holy Hope Cemetery will be private.

RODRIGUEZ, Raul, 47, a resident of Tucson, died Sunday, January 29, 1995. Survived by cousin Ricardo Moreno of Orlando, FL; friend Dan Kemper and other relatives and friends also survive. Raul was an employee at the U.S. Post office, Cherrybell Station. He was deeply touched by the support given him by his fellow employees during his illness. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave., with Rev. Gale Trow of Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Interment Valley View Cemetery, Mammoth. Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

SMITH, Eugenia Lee, 83, of Tucson, died Saturday, January 28, 1995. Memorial Mass will be at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 1995.

WRIGHT, Josephine Watkins, born September 8, 1916 in Jackson, MS, died January 28, 1995 in Tucson, AZ. She was 78 years old. Survived by her three children, Russell Jr. (Judy) of Baltimore, MD, Virginia Sonnenfeld (Dezso) of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Alex (Kathy) of Tucson AZ; seven grandchildren. During her life she lived and worked in Meridian, MS, Baltimore, MD, Paramus, NJ, Alexandria, LA, and Opelousas, LA. A resident of The Forum Retirement Community for the past 18 months, she left Opelousas, LA to reside in Tucson. She was a 1938 graduate of Louisiana State University. A retired medical records librarian, she also organized the “ Pink Ladies’ volunteer program for Doctors Hospital in Opelousas, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander F. Watkins Jr. and Josephine Saizan Watkins as well as her brother, Alexander F. Watkins III, all of Opelousas, LA. Private interment arrangements are pending, but will be held in the Watkins Family plot, at Myrtle Grove Cemetery, in Opelousas, LA.

WRINN, George, 78, a long-time resident of Tucson passed away in Southington, CT., October 29, 1994. George was well-known in both the restaurant and commercial real-estate in Tucson. He once owned and operated the “Talk Of The Town’ restaurant. Later, he owned the George Wrinn Real Estate Agency here. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in his memory at Our Lady, Queen of All Saints Church, 2915 E. 36th St., where he worshiped, Wednesday, February 1st at 7:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude. There were no children.

COADY, Bernard R. (Bill), 65, of Tucson, died January 30, 1995. Husband of Norma J.; father of Maureen T. Coady, both of Tucson, Kathleen A. Holt of Pasadena, TX; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother of Margaret Curran of Little Rock, AR, Agnes Wendle of Sutter Creek, CA, Dorothy Bryan of Las Vegas, NV, Marcella Nails of Taylorville, IL. Memorial Service will be held at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, Thursday, February 2, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Gerald M. Cote officiating. Arrangements by ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave (888-1111).
