BLANCARTE, Jose G., 91, of Tucson, died February 16, 1995. Survivors include daughters, Juanita Lopez, Hayden, AZ, Dolores (Armando) Bravo, Tucson, Josie (Kel) Chavez, Tucson; sons, Frank (Oralia) Nava, Tucson, Sotero (Maudie) Blancarte, Mesa, Louie (Josie) Blancarte, Tucson, and Adolfo (Irene) Blancarte, Tucson; also surviving are 33 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren. NELSON, Bruce, 47, a resident of Tucson and former resident of California, died Wednesday, February 15, 1995. Survived by wife, Sandy Froman; mother, Lois Nelson of Calistoga, CA; father, Clifford of Solon Springs, WI; sisters, Nadine Nelson of Morgan Hill, CA; Nancy Poitou of Glendora, CA; brother, Brian Nelson of Yampa, CO. Bruce was a retired law enforcement officer, one of the top holster makers and leather craftsmen in the country. A renowned firearms and police officer survival instructor, Bruce was one of the founders of the International Practical Shooting Confederation and a well-know author, gun rights activist and community leader. PHELAN, Margaret, died suddenly at Carmel Heights Retirement Home, Mississauga Ontario, Canada, on February 17th, in her 87th year. Margaret was a Canadian snowbird resident on Lazy Heart in Tucson Estates for over 22 years.
PRIDDY, Karen Ann, 49, of Tucson, passed away February 16, 1995. She was very dedicated to her work as a registered nurse. For the past 25 years she has worked with several hospitals and nursing homes, including Veterans Administration Nursing Home, and St. Mary’s Hospital. Her interests include water sports, photography, and travel. Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon at St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 5:00 p.m. at 4655 N. Brittain Place. Karen’s survivors include her sister, Susan Platt; a niece, Rebecca Rosko (age 21); and a nephew, Remus Rosko (age 23), all of Southampton, NY; and a half-brother, John Priddy and wife, Kathy of Orland, ME. TOMPKINSON, Albert, Jr., 70, of Tucson, died February 17, 1995. Albert Tompkinson Jr. was born December 8, 1924 in Tucson, AZ to Albert Tompkinson and Theresa Mabel Price. He grew up in the Binghampton area of Tucson attending Davidson Elementary School, Mansfield Jr. High and graduating from Tucson High School in June 1942. He joined the Army Airforce and was trained as a mechanic and gunner. He served in the Pacific Theater and in the Army of Occupation in Japan. He was discharged and returned home in 1945. He then served two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He then worked as a mail carrier for the US Post Office for 37 years, retiring in 1985. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Verdaun Porter Tompkinson; two sons, Stacy M. Tompkinson of St. David, AZ and S. Gregg Tompkinson of Tucson, AZ; three daughters, Janet Carpenter of Cedar City, UT, Daphne Seaney of San Manuel, AZ amd Amy Leavitt of Tempe, AZ; and 24 grandchildren; two sisters, Emily Simmons of Tucson, AZ and Cleda Earl from Las Vegas, NV. Albert died at the Riverview Retirement Home of Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons Diseases after a three year illness on February 17, 1995. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. CARLIN, James H., 27, of Tucson, died Sunday, February 12, 1995. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jean Carlin and Charles H. Russell; grandmother, Hazel Carlin; three uncles, numerous cousins and companion, David Ruder. James worked for Carondelet, St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s for 13 years. He was very thoughtful, caring and supportive of everyone he knew and he will be greatly missed. Memorial Services will be at Metropolitan Community Church, 3269 N. GEISEL, Edward E., longtime Tucsonan, loving father, grandfather and a friend of those who knew him. Ed passed away on February 15, 1995 at approximately 2:00 p.m. He was one of the finest, most sincere and respected men known. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his mother, Clara; two sons, Tony and Eddie; his brother, Sonny; and his three sisters, Beverly, Virginia and Sharolynn; also a generous amount of grandchildren, nephews and nieces. HALL, Timothy Wayne, 47, passed away February 15, 1995. Husband of, Linda Hall of Tucson. Father of Cathrine Hall and Scott Hall, both of Tucson. Brother of Anthony Hall of Safford and Sandi Stubblefield of Las Vegas. Son of, Elsie May Hall of Safford. Mr. Hall was a lifetime member of N.R.A. and life member of Tucson Rod and Gun Club also served as an officer and on the board of directors. Mr. Hall also served in the US Air Force and served in Vietnam. He was employed by Hughes Aircraft for twenty years and member of Boy Scott Troop #733 in Tucson.
